  7. So I've picked up some ttrs 370mm brakes. They had been refurbed before and not done many miles and came in dark grey with a brembo sticker on them. Sent them straight to the body shop to be repainted in skoda red and also ive painted the centre of the disc silver. Ive done 2 dry fit to make sure that they will fit and what spacer i needed, also ive got to order some new brakes hoses because they oem are to short and the wrong type of fitting. Also I've fitted 4 brand new extreme wheels as the other extreme wheels wasn't up to my standard plus I kerbed one of them the other week

  8. I had some LED modules leftover from the boot lid install and was chuffed to find that the footwell lighting uses the same module, along with glovebox. They took a little fettling to fit as being copies of the OEM unit the plastic housing is/was slightly fatter. Some furious filing later, they're in. Additional units now ordered for the fronts and glovebox. I sourced some pre-owned SuperSkoda sun shades from a fellow member and fitted these today also. Pleased that they have a one piece rear shade as this was most annoying on the wife's Touran £150 cheaper than getting tints.

  9. Yes one cannot trust reviews if they are made by people who are not objective and honest. Taking money from car companies to give them good reviews is reprehensible, immoral, unethical and basically dishonest.

  10. The guys from TPS sent me an email with a pic of the brake pipes on to make sure they were the right ones... These are the main two front to rear brake pipes that run the full length of the car from ABS pump to the rear axle. Due to the crap VW parts diagrams and descriptions it took them three attempts to get the right ones, needless to say the boxes were equally as big This means that every single hard brake line on the car has been replaced, all because over the years the unions corrode onto the pipes and twist the pipe when you undo them. Had to graciously leave the boxes behind and managed to fit them both inside the black vRS quite easily

  13. Have you also tried looking at the wiring in the door bellow? I am sure there must be a possibility of one of those being severe too, although I would have thought that would stop the window going up and down with the key. Still worth investigating though.

  15. Journalist Alan Douglas had a "static preview in Sweden", his words, and then produced a full tabloid page review. A good third of his dialogue was about the name KaroQ which was the last thing I wanted to know about. After what was presumably an expensive junket to Sweden you would think that he would be able to tell you more facts about the car. The remaining text includes speculation about UK launch dates and and levels of equipment. Surely a journalist could have got more out of Skoda than this?

  17. Getting ready for Silvetrstone on Sunday now. We are on the International circuit which is nice as I found the National a bit simple in terms of layout last year. New Brisky screen banners going on... And as my National A license has come through due to having finished 6 races now it's time to get the beast out. Bit of last minute tweaking and we have a bit over 600bhp/tonne to the rear wheels. My Fiesta is out alongside the Brisky ones too, but in CSCC a race win sees you get a 30 second extra pit stop time penalty so we'll have to see where we end up at the finish line! Stops someone dominating like in a championship. Going to be a busy Sunday!

  21. Hello Awayoffski Whatcar for one: "What's the 2017 Skoda Karoq like to drive? The Karoq is based on the same platform as the Seat Ateca and Volkswagen Tiguan, but it clearly has a softer set-up than the former, because there's more vertical movement over crests and undulations. That said, at no point did the disguised prototype that we drove feel floaty or wayward, and it soaked up large bumps well. Just don't expect that initial softness to translate into the sort of plush, cosseting feel you get with the Skoda Superb executive saloon. On the standard passive suspension fitted to our test car, the Karoq simply failed to settle down, exhibiting a fidgety ride on all but the smoothest of surfaces. We suspect Skoda is aware of this low-speed unruliness, because it has streamlined the development time of the optional adaptive dampers to ensure they’re available to customers by the end of 2017."

  22. Robbydazzler: If you have a decent dealer, he or she will explain all to you during handover. Allow at least an hour. All you've asked here is straightforward; wait 'till you get to the in car entertainment. Like you I had never had an auto before, but had researched how the DSG gearbox works - it's worth Googling if you're interested. (this is a rather "folksy" video

  23. Just be fully stopped, foot on brake, then move the stick from 'D' through to 'P', Hand Brake on then. Switch off.

  24. I've owned all sorts of automatic and DSG gearboxes from different makes. I've only ever put it from D to P in one motion when I'm about to turn it off. Very rare I'd ever put the car in N

  25. Kick down occurs when you sharply apply the accelerator pedal to the maximum travel - you "kick the pedal down". It is applied when already moving and causes the gearbox to drop one or two cogs giving you maximum acceleration. It is most commonly used (in my case) when going for a quick overtake. Indicate, move out, kick down. With the 280 it's all over in the blink of an eye. The 280 will still enable kick down at well over 100 mph - it's a beast. Do not use kick down until the engine is bedded in, so certainly not for the first 500 miles of its life. Yes those 19" wheels are diamond cut. I have no idea if AlloyGator rim protectors fit. Edit: If you're not familiar with kick down then maybe I should add you won't "accidentally" engage it. There is a resistance in the final stage of the pedal movement that you need to overcome with a determined press of the pedal. A gentler press of putting the 'pedal to the metal' will merely accelerate the car in the current gear. Merely? Perhaps not the best choice of words, as you may soon discover.

  27. Only if you have the Amundsen SatNav. Because it has no internal storage media to save the maps they need to be read from the maps SD Card which comes with your car and should always be present in one of the SD slots when using SatNav. If you have the Columbus SatNav you do not get an SD Card because the maps are already stored on the device's internal hard drive. Updates are done using your own 32 Gb or larger SD Card which then transfers the maps to the hard drive. If you have Swing or Bolero you do not get an SD Card as they do not have SatNav and therefore have no use for a maps SD Card.

  28. I've no first hand experience with cars running stage 3 and the Borg Warner K04 (you said T04?). There will be people with some real practical experience either in here or in other forums who run the set up. If there is no response here, you may like to join there as well, like a mk6 gti forum with threads on same engine set up. Looking at a few other forums, it doesn't seem they always run colder rated plugs with that set up. NGK heat range 7s seem quite common. Shark should be able to advise their recommendation. Some compression tests across all cylinders, wet and dry, whilst the plugs out not a bad idea and before forking out a lot of money to try see if there is an obvious problem. Your actual recent oil usage stats should give some insight too. Then, if compression test is not ugly, I would be replacing all plugs and coil packs as a start. Possibly the red audi R8 coil packs wouldn't be a bad idea. https://www.awesomegti.com/shop-by-brand/ecs-tuning/oem-red-r8-ignition-coil-pack-set-for-2-0t-vehicles/ The amount of oil pushed up the threads on no 4 worries me though. The cylinder has had deactivation, so I suppose there is no combustion to burn any oil but it looks like a lot more than I would expect for short mileage with a problem.

  32. FurryFriend - couldn't agree more about the current choice of cars from mainstream brands. Almost every manufacturer stick to a dull formulaic approach of one model per category (City, Estate, SUV etc) but they are all so similar to look at and in spec, there really aren't any 'stand-out' marques or models any more. I used be a Land Rover man through and through, would never drive anything else but they too have gone dull, all models look the same, no individual charisma and let's not talk about the price! My Octavia Scout is fairly dull to look at (apart from 'front-on') but is a brilliant car to drive and a generally nice place to be in, would really struggle to get enthusiastic about anything else just now and Skoda have just binned their one unique model (Yeti). No idea at all what I would buy next, even found myself looking at brands I would previously never have touched such as the new Peugeot 3008 and 2018 Citroen C5 Aircross just because they actually look quirky, different and interesting!!

  36. You know what I have found? every individual car is different. ive had: good year efficient grips and the performance variety. Dunlop sport blue response avon ZV-5 Falkens (Fitted by skoda) now got fulda's I found when cold the Goodyear's and Dunlop's became sloppy and slippy when cold and damp as they got older and older. ZV-5's were great in the dry but rubbish in the wet. Falkens were great all round and lasted 22k (9 Months for me) happy in both the wet and dry and returned great mpg. got the Fulda's on now for 600 miles, not as good mpg as the falkens but so far in some extreme weather on Friday A34 river were awesome no worries at all. its all about what you drive, how you drive, the weather, the state of the roads you travel. I always try to pick b ratings or better for every tire and often go XL 95/98 for extra safety due to the massive amount of driving I do. There is no one tire for one model, its very hit and miss. even replacing like with like can be different. and every one has their favourite, even the guys in the tire places will have their own. same as do you or don't you have nitrogen fill?

  37. In the current financial climate i would recommend you don't VT your citigo.... i understand its a CCA term which allows you ...... but finance companies are now having it so often because people just want a quick way to change that they no doubt will interrogate any future applications. Good luck

  38. These MPG figures are manufacture quoted and they are as reliable as VW's emmisions. I really do not understand WHY motor manufacturers can continue to blatantly lie about these and get away with it, everyone knows theses are not done in the real world. I would place a bet that real world on the 150 TSI will be not much better than my Yeti which is returning at best 38 mpg, so 55.4 is completely unrealistic. Shame really.

  39. Had a few hours this weekend spare so dived into the garage to make some headway on the underneath. Pictures kinda speak for themselves.. The flash makes it look almost too bright a yellow, without the flash you can see it's a perfect match More coats of the yellow will follow, then a good few days for it to go off before I can start putting the body bungs back into place. I'm now under the mid section of the car, at the prepping and primer/base coat stage.. seems never ending lol..
