  1. Thought i would post mine up few people might know it. My first car bought it from a main dealer a week after passing my test in October 2016 so my first drive in a car on my own was driving it back from Southampton to Glasgow with a couple of stop offs on the way. The car was the perfect spec, 2014 model with Maxidot, Amusden + , Red Seats, Underseat storage, Multi function steering wheel, Rear Parking sensors,ESP and Climate Control. Dealer also fitted Cruise Control, Arm Rest and rubber mats all round Car started off looking like this. From picking it up it was drove straight to Funk Motorsport in London and the fogs/drls were tinted yellow with Lamin-X. Then After that to Awesome GTi in Manchester who put it on the Rolling Road and to my surprise it didn't make the claimed 103bhp and 184 lb fts, It actually made 114.5bhp and 201.8 lbs ft, While there i also picked up a 25mm H&R Rear Anti Roll bar, Audi R8 oil cap , Porsche Coolant cap and TT Jacking points. Then when i got it home i fitted a red TDi badge that i had ordered for the front Next was one of my favourite modifications Nitrogen Gas Bonnet Struts, Keep forgetting others don't have them so i've found a few i've opened the bonnet on my mates montes or vRS's and let them go expecting them to rise up like mine but they just slam back down lol. Then went off to visit a mate to get some pictures with his fabia Then the following day it was off to take part in the Glasgow to Monte Carlo Rally. Then also a quick stop off here on the way back Next fitted was the Autolight kit with a Mk1 Yeti switch so all the lights stay skoda green Next was Briskoda Number plate holders when fitting the fronts i found that the dealer ignored the 4 pre drilled holes and thought they would make 2 more Thankfully they used the holes for the back but the plastic bungs couldn't be screwed in again so had to replace those Also some Skoda tyre caps Next thing was the popular sunglasses holder mod Then Team Heko Wind Deflectors Next was the big thing for me, New wheels, after long consideration i decided on MK1 Octavia vRS Spiders which i'm so glad i went with as they really set off the car. Then the bad luck started First 2 lots of punctures Dead Battery And what i thought was a fuel leak turned out to be the air con leaking Also wrapped the stereo surround Then started the LED Conversation Started off with number plates from Halfords DRLs Twenty20's Autobeam Interior kit Autobeam LED fog lights with Halfords 6k Sidelights Autobeam LED Red Tail lights (only LEDs in the car that bring up a bulb error) give it a nice deep red look. Autobeam chrome indicators (these aren't led but will be changed to led in the future as autobeam have just brought out ones that dont need resistors) Techmac LED Headlights with Lush lightings adaptors Also have currently on the way Autobeam LED red brake lights, white reverse light , Red rear fog light. And the most recent H&R 40mm Lowering Springs Very happy with how it looks and drives just now, In the future it will get Bilstien Shocks, CR177 turbo with an S3 intercooler Darkside Hardpipe kit and hopefully get over the 200bhp mark. 8. Just got a new Koch Chemie 1k nano applied to my Octavia and damn, it looks good! Should seal the paint really well as well, and the cleaning should be very easy. I really can recommend this to anyone, had it on my previous car and my few of my friends have it too. After one year (In Finland, I must say, where the weather is not really that good all year long..) the finish was just like new. Let's hope it sticks just like that in my Octavia too! Some pics, bad ones, just took them when I came home. I can post better ones if someone needs to see what it looks like, wet etc.

  9. Wow! I spent all that time on the internet getting the price down and playing one dealer off against another to save loads of cash, only to find that the new car needs a £1200 - £1300 wash. That'd pay for 260 visits to my Kurdish mates car wash team at the old petrol station. Well, I think I'll just get them to wash it every week for the next 5 years. Mind you this car might be a keeper - call it every 2 weeks for the next 10 years then.

  12. Mad suspension do airbag kits that go inside the coils to assist when carrying a load. I fitted these to my brothers Octavia VRS earlier this year. Like you said simple valve in the boot to inflate with blow off valve to prevent over inflation.

  13. I've gone back to Saga Car Insurance, I've saved over £140 on the quote from Chris Knott and that included the Briskoda discount. Also I was unable to enter the competition to win tickets for the British GP as I already had a policy with Chris Knott so I didn't need a quote and also missed out on the " Save money by bringing another Car to CK " They wern't completive with Mrs G's car ( also Saga ) so Mrs G stayed with them. Advertising for Competitive Car Insurance and being a member of a Car Club for discounts didn't work for us. Sorry Chris Knott...............

  16. Got my car back today.....£257 all in for parts and labour. Diagnostic machine was showing it was misfiring, Could this have been caused by a faulty pump? Strangely when I drove the car today approx 1.5 miles to the garage only the EML came on and not the EPC light before having the new pump fitted, All faults have been cleared and no lights on the dash. Heres hoping all is well, thanks for the help folks it's truly appreciated.

  23. I'm going to get my gearbox reset as it seems to change up too early, so maybe that'll eek some more miles out of the tank! I am surprised you get 30 on average, that really is good. My girlfriend's mum's Kia sorento gets far, far less than that and it is a 2.5L auto.

  28. It is much better than some find it-or I am driving differently. I would describe it as nimble and brisk. I hardly ever used the considerable power of my mapped 1.8 as my licence was traditionally fragile and maybe I have learned that driving on my reflexes isn't as easy or useful or fun as I used to find it. My dad slowed down a lot as he aged and I now understand why-it is much more relaxing.

  35. Just started back up after many years off. Need to get fit being a slob of a lorry driver Currently using my brothers spare Boardman pro while he rebuilds his lapierre zesty full suspension for me, He has a posh cube thing. Only doing 3-5 mile a day to ease myself into it and get some fitness back but we've done the odd blue route at Sherwood pines and went on a 16 mile adventure Monday night round clumber park.

  37. I was interested to see that @RichardHH is unhappy with the damping set up on the Superb 3. From reading these fora some people seem to like the ride, some do not. I think its a question of expectation and what you are used to. For myself I like the ride of my L&K 190 D on 19 inch wheels and use the DCC in its normal setting for general driving. I do use the sport setting if I am driving narrow and winding roads where the extra stiffness is useful to keep better control. A road test by EVO magazine some time ago made the following comment, "Ride and Handling: Precise cornering characteristics and impressive body control don't harm the Superb's excellent ride". EVO did accept that the car was in fact a better cruiser than a B-road thriller. Personally, I would not buy the car if its suspension was much stiffer and, if I wanted a a car that was more orientated towards handling rather than comfort, I would probably have bought a sporty version of the Octavia. Having said all that I suspect that a new set of sport dampers would stiffen the car up quite a bit and may solve the problem.

  40. You can't change it - it is designed as ACC. If you wanted normal cruise control then you'd have to strip it all out and install a different version which kind of defies the point. Having had ACC for over 18 months now I wouldn't switch back. Drove a colleagues car with normal cruise the other day and it's just awful in comparison - had to keep switching it on and off to maintain flow / change lanes etc. Whereas with the ACC i just let it run.

  43. Bit of progress this weekend. Connected up the brake lines, torqued up the front driveshaft bolts, repaired and fitted the rear left driveshaft, broke off the corroded shielding on the ABS sensors, re-wrapped and re-fitted them, replaced a broken wire to the rear diff, not sure what it does (yet), looked at a few other things and pondered them I thought I'd better clean this out.. Yay, got this nut back on. I damaged it trying to get it out of the hub. And it's in Brake lines are all complete. No fluid in there yet. Ticked a few things off the list but I keep adding more. The damaged fuel line and the replacement I bought from Audi tradition. Not sure that's the right one I'm itching to clean it. Need to wait until Final Touch Wellington to do it properly.
