Hi all, Just thought I'd better jump in this forum from the MK2 one and start a thread. I currently drive a 2011 VRS hatch CR170 DSG, bloody great car! Then this happened...... !!! So yeah....... crazy week!! Short of it is I'm off to the dealers tomorrow morning to spec up my new VRS230 DSG, probably an estate this time, the extra space will be handy but depends if they can do something about the £1200 price hike! So I'm currently here with the spec: Moon White Metallic Panoramic Electric Sunroof (PH8) £1,150 Dynamic chassis control (DCC) (PFH) £850 Adaptive cruise control (PSB) £565 Canton sound system (RA3) £500 Tow bar with adaptor (PK1) £550 Heated windscreen (PH5) £300 Temporary space saver spare wheel (PJC) £100 Umbrella (for electric seats / CANTON) (QE7) £0 Heated washer nozzles in front (9T1) £50 Crew Protection Assistant (7W1) £150 Rear side airbags (PE4) £285 5 Year / 100k Extended Warranty £515 Anything else REALLY worth having? Any of the lighting, lane assist, blind spot monitoring or such things worth what they're asking for them? Any ideas on the current build time at the moment? Thanks!9 points

We just got back from the dealer, just a day before our vacation, so just in time! Me and my wife only had a quick drive around the city and it's already great. I can't wait for the trip! I promised some photos, so here they go. RS230 Meteor Grey with silver (standard here) 18 Gemini Alloys and a black pack.5 points

Thanks for all the positive comments, much appreciated! So that's it ordered, I went for the Hatch in the end, just looks so nice and in all honesty with the space they have it will more than suffice. Here's the one they brought on the day, it's a 230 but specced with most of the 245 bits, simply stunning! Those Alcantara seats!!! Oh and so impressed with the Ambusmen nav and Canton, stunning screen and the sound!! Incredible! The dealer (Henrys Skoda Glasgow City Centre) and salesman Andrew have been fantastic with it all, also giving me a brand new VRS for the weekend next week to try out!! What a week! Now the long wait!!4 points

The 245 is awesome I'm sure you'll enjoy, well done & yes the screen looks great but, once you've driven it your No. 1 praise will go to those seats. Alcantra is fantastic, it'd take Micheal Barrymore to grip your ass firmer though maybe, not near a swimming pool.3 points

The new motor has arrived 2.0d SE L. Have only driven round the block as it were, but it instantly feels like a better ride (thanks to DCC) and is much quieter than the old 2013 Mk3 2.0d Elegance. And I judged emptying the old fuel tank to perfection - remaining range was 20 miles. I realise that it not going to be everyone's favourite colour, and it's not a vRS - but I am happy3 points

Quite. Imagine having that particular fault in the same scenario with a dealer who doesn't care about the customer. You'd have to start arguing about when it was discovered, how it happened, why it happened, Consumer Rights Act, etc. As it stands, it's a fault which may or may not have been noticeable at the time of sale, may or may not have happened after the sale to the customer, is being addressed by the dealer with no problems at all, a courtesy car has been arranged in the interim, and as far as I can see the whole issue should be just put down to a dealer doing the right thing.2 points
-
Then it's entirely likely that the dealer wouldn't have heard it either. As long as they are dealing with the fault properly then it's not worth losing sleep over.2 points

Blade got the new diff fitted by 3pm so I went down in the hire car to pick it up. Whilst waiting for them to give the Yeti a clean I wandered into the Seat part of the showroom. You may not believe the next bit. Low and behold they had a pre reg top of the range Ateca Excellence with extra goodies and only 12 miles on the clock. Lava Blue, 190bhp diesel 4 wheel drive with DSG. Nearly £7k off retail. Bought it!. Will get 67 reg have been assured. Yeti traded in and Ateca picked up next weekend. Bit impulsive maybe. The BMW i agent I've been talking to for a few months will not be happy!2 points

Looks good! My SE L estate shows up on Tuesday and have been eagerly looking out for FL cars on the roads with those same Trius 17" wheels. Haven't really seen many TBH. I had been going back and forth on going for 18" wheels as an extra but stuck with the standard Trius ones. They look good to me.2 points

Just a small point, Queen Elizabeth II is the Head of State the 92 year old lady un-elected. (EDIT, sorry 91, i get mixed up she has more than 1 birthday this year, and every year since becoming Head of State.) The Prime Minister asked her permission to form a government after a General Election where she was almost no longer going to be able to form a government if the Unionist Party from Northern Ireland did not accept the bribery to vote with the Conservative & Unionists. Since the Queens & the USA's Presidents Grand Parents were German they maybe should be out doing the Deals with Angela Merkel since it is ultimately the Germans that will do the Trade Deals post Brexit for the UK & USA. Or send Airmiles Andy & Charlie is my Darling as their close buddies in the Middle East will be a big part of what the UK does in Exports etc,.2 points

Moved from Diesel (2015 Golf ETD Estate) to Petrol 30 August 2017 .... originally after an Octavia VRS Estate but tried a Superb and was immediately smitten !! Drove up to Marshalls Reading from down here in West Cornwall and picked up my 4600 mile Feb.2017 220ps Superb SE-L Exec. Estate in Business Grey , standard spec. with addition of a Tilt / Slide Pan. Roof. Amazingly smooth and quiet 250 mile drive back - I just can't believe how well equipped this big estate car is . I've owned and driven A few new (at time) Beemers , Audis and VW's over the years and have to say this Skoda is up there if not above the lot of them .2 points

Most of the cable connections are usually "just" the required length..heat, vibration etc. wear then down usually where the wire enters the connector.... Numerous other sensors have the same problems...so get good at doing this fix as it is common to do to the cars this age..1 point

Just came across this whilst searching through the forums. Thought I'd add I had to replace a gearbox mount on my 100k mile fabia a while ago as it wore out. Fitted a genuine replacement part and torque to spec etc and after a few thousand miles I heard a bang sound. Checked car over and nothing obvious so ignored it. Then started knocking as i was slowing down hitting bumps. I was driving home one day and accelerated away fairly quickly and there was a loud bang. Turns out new mount had cracked and sheared in half. Im not saying i gave the car a full mechanical inspection when i first heard the noises but I did investigate underneath and couldn't see anything wrong. I know its a different car and different situation but its the same principal that there are always 'faults' within a batch of parts. I wouldn't worry in the slightest that it is the start of things to come. I would ignore what everyone says about how it may have been 'abused'. A part like an engine mount is built and tested to take extreme abuse so should not fail. You have had bad luck that the mount fitted to your car probably had a fault when it was fitted at factory but never picked up on. Can you really expect a dealer to do a full detailed check on EVERYTHING on a used car?1 point
-
Ben, The answer I believe is yes. However, you may need to check spec. Personally it never worried me on my previous R Estate. Just let others trailing behind to worry about that.lol Now go get one. Lol Spoil yourself. Check out in your Exeter dealership, you know you want to.1 point

Unfortunately I don't have a photo where I can show the light, and obscure my registration plate. Wait till it goes dark and see what the light is like, can always take them back out and fit the other way if it's not good enough for you. In a video on Youtube of the Facelift Octavia in a showroom, the LED number plate lights are mounted the same way around as I have them - and this is from the factory. See attached images. It may be possible to get more light if you mount it the other way around, but I think it's possible to have too much light on the numberplate (see this often where non-OEM LEDs are used) and I find this way around more than adequate.1 point

Thanks for the comments. So speccing it up today actually it seems Lane Assist is standard and it's done by an additional forward facing camera on the rear view mirror rather than the ACC radar in the grille? Good to hear that you can get light assist enabled with VCDS (I have it) as I nearly checked that option too! I think that with ACC you might also get front assist too (padestrian warning / colission detection) too? Really the only thing I'm still considering adding would be rear view camera but that's just a "nice to have" rather than something I really want so I'll think about that one for a bit.1 point

I got the part number, and first search found replacement pre-wired connector on eBay; only trouble they take ages to come from China! A closer look at my connector showed me that it is possible to disassemble to rewire it (clever little almost concealed clip inside) so I'm splicing in a new bit of cable and re-making, Original cable was too short and reason for break at connector - probably done when manufactured. Have ordered new connector, not pre-wired from UK, just in case I b****r this one up! Many thanks,Wino, for your input - led me in the right direction. You learn something new every day!1 point

I haven't seen many FL cars either. Those LED DRLs are bright! Looking forward to seeing what the LED headlights are like after dark1 point

Hello everyone. Haven't actually got my Skoda yet. Waiting on delivery (currently 4 weeks into a 10 - 12 week delivery time). Not that it's dragging or anything Looking forward to picking your collective brains once I get hold of it and can't figure out how to put oil in it1 point

Quick update on mine in case anyone is interested: Parked in the drive last night with steering wheel at centre, looking from the rear down each side, the drivers front wheel looked pretty straight BUT the passenger side you could clearly see was turning left by a good few degrees. Adjusted the track rod end a few turns so as the passenger wheel looked straight like the other side and.....It doesnt swerve to the left anymore!!!! (albeit the steering wheel is no longer straight when driving in a straight line) So I am pretty sure mine was/is alignment issues. Can't beleive changing from worn out to cupra bushes put the tracking out that much!!?? Unless one of the old TC arms was slightly bent?? Anyhow I will now get it booked in for a proper 4 wheel alignment and hope thats the end of it.1 point

New car looks good. Lost a little of the "wild" look from the last TVR designs at the front, but definately in keeping with a modern version of the griffith/chimera era. Not too sure on those wheels though, but apart from that I'm more than happy for someone to buy me one as a gift I have to say though, the interior is my favourite.... Who else would have a button labelled "KILL" on their dashboard1 point

I don't think any car headunit will support streaming music to bluetooth (BT) headsets. If I've understood it correctly, the problem you've presented is to add a BT output on equipment that has no BT output or AUX output. I'm not sure how the BT/aux adaptor linked by Fin helps as it solves the opposite problem. Namely, it connects to an AUX input so BT devices can stream to equipment without an BT input option. To solve your problem, you'd probably need two devices and the BT volume is likely to change when you adjust the headunit volume: - one like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/142181252156 to convert the high level speaker outputs in to a line level output - one like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/260821395579 to transmit the line level output over BT If you have a factory sound system installed, you'll already have a line level output between the headunit and amp so you'll just need the second part. A better question is what are you actually trying to achieve? Is it to allow one of your children: - to listen to the stereo without disturbing other vehicle occupants - to have their own volume control - something else...?1 point

Better result than I am getting. Service mgr rang me with an update this afternoon to say warranty company which is VAG Financial Services I believe may want to send an assessor out due to the cost involved so he couldn't order the part. Need to make some more phone calls tomorrow morning. Got absolutely nowhere with contribution request or any chance of a loan car. Just pay the excess as it's just like any insurance policy and no loan cars available for love or money. Blade Skoda in Bristol by the way. You never know how good your dealer/manufacturer/warranty is until something goes wrong. Who was your warranty with?1 point

Oh, and bought a space saver wheel from eBay for £50 delivered (it's practically brand new) and the spare wheel kit from Skoda. £95 all in, and now I actually have a spare wheel, Jack and brace! Went around and loosened all the nuts with a telescopic brace and tightened them properly. Bit of peace of mind!1 point

Took it straight round the in-laws. Wife's Dad drives a mint 3 year old Merc E-Class AMG in midnight blue. He was cursing and wish he'd gone for a similar colour to ours. Then his missus starts having a go at him, saying look how much more you get for your money with one of these Both of them were blown away. The styling? Somebody deserves massive props.1 point

The Controllers arrived 3 days back but could not get myself working on it till yesterday as I was busy at work. I have replaced both the CAN Gateway and PDC Controllers and the result is that I now get the OPS Display on my Screen of my Chinese HU (but should work on any compatible System like Bolero/Columbus/etc I presume): It goes like this; First replaced my Stock 1K0 907 530 H with a 7N0 907 530, which was very easy. This Gateway was placed right behind the Glove Box, which made the task entirely easy by not having to find it behind the dash in other later models of the Octy II (mine is a 2006). At this point, before putting the glove box back in, I followed the instructions as mentioned in the above GTI website link on connecting the CANBUS Cable to the Drivetrain CANBUS Network (Pins 16 and 6, CAN H & L respectively). I have pulled this cable alongside of the car upto the Boot on the rear end of the Car. Before removing the old Stock Gateway, connected VCDS and took Screenshots of every byte code of the Gateway which really helped me in coding the new Gateway, where quiete a few bytes have changed. After connecting the new Gateway, coded, scanned and all was well, not a single error. Gateway upgrade was complete. Getting the new PDC working was a challenge. Removed the old 1Z0 919 283 C PDC Controller and fitted it with the new one, which is a 1Z0 919 465 E. I had actullay ordered for a 1Z0 919 465 C from Skodateile, but as a goodwill gesture, he (Ales) sent me a later version 1Z0 919 465 E of the PDC. Had to adapt the old main connector with old CANBUS to this new one by cutting off the old CANBUS wires and connecting this new cable at new pins (Pins 6 and 16, CAN H & L respectively) in the T16 Connector as described in the above GTI Link. Connected the other 2 Sensors' Connectors (T12's) to the Unit. Connected VCDS, changed the Park Assist from Address 76 (old) to 10 (new) on the Gateway. There are quiete a few extra settings available on this new controller from the old one, like setting up the PDC type to OPS, the Car type to Skoda and so on, but in all, it was very simple. Connected VCDS and scanned for erros and got a "Mechanical Failure - Rear Sensors" + "Warning Buzzer" on the new PDC Controller. One thing was clear from this that the Front Sensors were ok as there was no error indicating otherwise. Pulled out the T12 which is last from the T16 and is the one for the Rear Sensors, compared it to the Front Sensors Connector (T12) next to it and the difference was easy to spot, which is that in the Front Sensors Connector, there are only 6 Pin Connections (4 for each Sensor and 2 for Common Power) while the Rear Sensors Connector has all the 12 Pin connections (4 Sensors with 3 pins each = 12 Pins). So I assumed that this needs to be changed to the exact format that the Front Sensors Connector has, which is by combining the common power pins of the Sensors into one. Moreover, another Pic I found on the Internet (not sure from where) as shown below helped me in confirming this. This above Diagram only shows the connections in general and not the colour coded wires specific to the setup in my Car. Took a guess and placed the 4 coloured wires in exact same order as in the other connector (Front) and this did the trick. Connected the VCDS and the earlier "Mechanical Failure" error disappeard. But still, one error remained; "Missing Front - Warning Buzzer" one. I knew I needed another Buzzer for the Front beeps but didn't have one in hand. What I had was another 8W spare DIY Speaker, which I tried connecting and to my surprise, it worked!!! The error disappeared and when I engaged the reverese gear, the OPS lit up on the Screen, was such a good feeling to see this after hours of hard work put into getting this one thing done. However, the only problem now is that the Parking aid works intermittently because of the incompatible Buzzer. They are available on Internet for $20+, but before investing so much for such a small thing, I will try to make this speaker work as a compatible Buzzer, and if only all fails, will order a new one. To conclude, it is a myth that you need to upgrade the Sensors to the newer ones I now assume. But mixing the make of Sensors and the Controller is something I really can't comment on. Just for the info, my old PDC Controller was a Valeo make and the Sensors are a 7H0 919 275 C (according to ETKA). Pin-outs with colour codes for the rear sensors connector later when I have time. EDIT: Added the Rear Sensors Connection Diagram:1 point
