  5. The number of questions posed and the lack of commitment does suggest you have a head v. heart conflict. Sure it is easy to get caught up in the enthusiasm of those who have enhanced their vehicles but do you really need it or the possible consequences of utilising the extra performance. You bought a 'sensible' and practical vehicle that offers slightly better than average performance and with potential for very good economy compared to others in its price range. Even with a tuning box or remap you are not going to be the 'king of the traffic light grand-prix', or you could end up like in 'Back to the Future' without a time machine for a second chance. Use the performance and you will need to replace tyres and clutches more frequently, the wet box DSG is more durable than the manual clutch. I'll offer you the same advice I was given when I asked for directions in a remote part of Ireland "Well sorr, I wouldn't start from here" If you truly need more performance then you'd be off getting something more appropriate such as a VRS, a Merc but not a BMW ( their indicators never work) or something really fast like a white van 'cos those damn things can move.

  6. So when I was in getting the Sprint serviced the other day, I decided to wait for it and drink the dealers coffee and have a look round,.... I couldn't believe how much kit some of the Tiger models have as standard these days, so the salesman said why not take one for a ride while you are waiting, I declined at that time but asked him to work out a cost to change. The cost to change was very favourable no doubt including a lot of good will after the issues with the Sprint after collection (all fixed now I must add) so I went home to think about it. Some e-mail exchanges and a telephone conversation the next day saw me back for a test ride on the Friday, this worked well as I had to be in Romford that day anyway! A couple of hours later and the deal was done and I'll be taking delivery of a Tiger 800 XRT next week hopefully . As we were doing the paperwork I put my registration on retention (using the DVLA's on-line system) and told him what the new registration for the Sprint would be, I received the new V5C yesterday and then advised the DVLA that the bike had been sold again using their on-line system (I love what you can do on-line these days). I have added a few bits as Triumph are supplying expedition panniers foc at the moment so I've added a matching top box and an alarm plus some other little bits. Now all I have to do is jump through the "what chain oiler" loop again, although it will have to be a diy fit this time as the new holding company doesn't allow fitment of non manufacturers authorized accessories

  7. NOOOO. Superb Mk1 is NOT urea based, it is some expensive Eolys molybdenum type liquid, really nasty stuff - highly carcinogenic (so let's stick it in the exhaust). The cars that use urea (Adblue) go through it much quicker. If you stick Adblue in the error will go away because the level sensor will register liquid, but pretty soon you'll have a totally blocked DPF.

  8. Just had the rollback done today. Initial impressions are a slight improvement in response although it wasn't bad before (as the car hasn't done too many miles) Around town and on the A roads at cruising speed, the EGR rate does appear to be less and the number of miles to increase the soot level appears lower but will have to wait to see the overall effect on consumption and the mileage between regens.

  11. Golf GTE is a fat lump. New Euro 7 coming and lightness is next to godliness. 115 ps from the front and equivalent to 45 ps from the rear should be nice as torque is what matters, and other than under acceleration or load a small family sized vehicle even a 'warm or hot one' only needs around 100ps, maybe even less as shown with 1.4 or 1.5 TSI / TFSI ACT/COD's 200ps is all very nice when necessary and VW have put a 2.0litre in the VW Polo GTI (Hatch only available & FWD just now.) Skoda can do better than that, and maybe before VW do to the Polo. 150ps or 160ps with plenty torque on demand would be nice IMO. The Seat Ibiza FR 150ps DSG was a nippy car, as nippy as a 180ps Ibiza oddly, even hard to tell any performance difference.

  16. They adjusted it but as The Client said, it needs less -Ve camber (old springs, soft dampers, etc). -0.75 would be nice to aim for. They need to fix the toe up too as it's still toeing out on the RHS. Not only will this cause inside edge wear, it will cause a slight LH drift. Start a daily squirt of PB Blaster for a week or two to penetrate into the seized eccentric or you might have to sacrifice Up the front, camber is fine. Caster is fine. toe is fine as long as the steering wheel is straight.

  23. Correct, PQ35 cars need ODIS or VCP to edit the lighting config. A dealer *should* be able to enable rear DRL... Stop/start coding is pretty limited on this platform. The only thing I've seen is: VCDS - 19 Gateway -> (Long) adaption -> channel 13 -> change code 002000 into 292029 I think it'll permanent disable it but I am unable to test it as I haven't got access to a PQ35 with stop/start. I'd advise a full autoscan and adaption map for the gateway before changing it. Any feedback would be good too

  28. Just checked my car, as expected it's identical to the OP's and only has one pipe connected. @REH17 - are you able to log values whilst you drive using your OBD dongle? I should have some I made with VCDS a while back. How frequent are your regen's and have you had 'the fix' done? What made you think the pressure sensor was at fault and needed replacing?

  29. There are 'potential gains' for some. Those with a 1.2, 1.6 or 2.0 TDI with the Cheat Device and running issues, ones that have had endless problems and expense trying to get a vehicle fit for purpose and Dealership staff & Skoda Customer Staff panning them off and saying 'Driver Error', pay yourself,. Diagnostics, EGR's. to get forced regens etc. You can get the car in for The Fix, get your Peace of mind 24 month guarantee in writing and then use it, get your car issues resolved if they continue or return, work the VW Group system and have them assume the position for a change. Maybe even take actions against them to recover previous expenditure because they confessed to being a lying cheating corporation and a Small Claims Court in England/Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland might just be aware of the honest customer and the Dodgy Vehicle Manufacturer.

  33. I know this post was some time ago, but its the best I've read on the subject. I had a MkII so knew about regen and the running fan. In my Mk III I had been wondering why the revs at idle were high sometimes and the stop/start deactivated. Couldn't find anything on this in the manual. The fans in my Mk III are way louder than the MK II and it seems to regen a lot more often. I'm doing the same mix of shorter journeys intersperced with longer runs. A couple of days after getting my car I had the dual issue of the P7 19" wheel spin when turning right from a standing start in sport mode, coupled with burning smell when I got back home, leading me to think I'd a binding brake and went back to the dealer for a check on the ramp. Either they thought I was a complete dummy showed some respect for my age or didn't make the connection with the symptoms above, but all was fine. Now after a canter round the forum and the benefit of more savvy people than me, I realise what is/was going on.

  36. Well it's been a while since I updated this so thought I would chuck a quick update on. This year was a big one for the car, in early January I found that the K03 turbo had almost "died" so went down the path of replacing the turbo, but didn't go standard replacement. Instead went for a K04 revo tweeked turbo with stage 3 revo software. While they had the engine out, I took the opportunity to have the engine rebuilt and fitted forged internals. So it now has the following extra mods: · K04 turbo kit · RS4 injectors · RS4 Low Pressure fuel pump · RS4 fuel regulator valve · Wossner Pistons · ZRP Rods · AirTech Large Black Intercooler · Revo Induction Kit 3 inch We ran it on the dyno, with a dodgy clutch and managed 340bhp and 480nm. I took her to Germany in April and despite the clutch slip it flew down the Autobahn at an exhilarating speed of 140 mph. Two months ago, I finally saved enough money to purchase a Helix sport organic clutch and a wavetrac LS differential. Since doing that it’s been so much better at taking corners and applying the power, no more clutch slip Unfortunately, I’m writing this without my car parked on the drive as it’s currently sitting in a workshop waiting for a lovely technician to have a look at the gearbox, as it’s having a wee problem of selecting gears and occasionally getting stuck in gears. Fingers crossed this isn’t an expensive issue So, I will leave you with a picture of the shiny cylinders, pistons and an archive picture of my car. Thanks for reading!

  40. Almost 8,000 miles and 8 months in on a 1.0 SE estate/Combi. Family of four with a roof box and cycle carrier. Separate trips to Peak district, Belgium, France, Germany and Ireland completed from West Norfolk. Used as a local family taxi four days a week Not found wanting in the power department yet and averaging 51mpg since I first picked it up. Happy with that...

  42. it's fast enough to more than keep up and if you let it rev it's not bad at all. A world away from the 80 PS in a Tipo I had in a rental the other week. Engine characteristics are nicer than the 2.0TDI if you ask me... lighter clutch, fewer vibrations, quieter. 200Nm and 115PS work well. Added to a realistic 50-60mpg there's an awful lot to like. - Bre

  44. Been a while since an update, annoyingly Photobucket images don't work anymore so I'll have to try add all the pictures again but it won't let me edit!?! Anyway i haven't had to do much to the car at all; done over 2500miles and it's always started first time, never overheats and everything works as it should. The car is nearly ready for remapping however before this i need to uprate the clutch so I've bought a 6 paddle vr6 clutch rated to 440flb and a pinion brace to prevent the gearbox case cracking (common problem on high power 02j gearbox) My friend may be buying the Gt2860rs turbo from me meaning i can upgrade, thinking a gtx2867r or gtx3067r which will both do near 500bhp but i won't be going that high, probably aim for somewhere between 420-450bhp. Onto a couple of jobs i got done on the car, the mk2 golf 8v radiator i originally fitted was a used rad and it started leaking so i bought a mk2 Scirocco aluminium radiator, along with this i bought a aluminium shroud with twin 10" fans and made it fit the Aluminium radiator. Quite a tight fit with a twin core radiator and twin fans. I thought i may aswell change the rear suspension top mounts too to polybushes and at the same time fitted a OMP rear strut brace. Welded brackets to rear turrets and bolted strut in place. Next i had a 80mm aluminium MAF housing made, was using a 3" Vr6 MAF but internally it's only 2.75" so the 80mm should help things flow better. Lastly i bought a strut brace for a mk2 Golf and made it fit the Felicia, cut the brackets supplied in half and welded them to the front turrets, shortened the bar and bolted it on. Looks the part also this is how the engine bay currently looks (not fitted the aluminium MAF yet)

  45. I had to remove my (A5 FL) LHD car's front left door trim due to some annoying noise. The wire to the door led took loose, after I fixed it with duct tape, the noise was gone. I also repaired one broken plastic clip on the inside of the door trim with hot glue. Here are some pictures I took as reminder, hopefully someone else can also use them. You can also see how to orientate the removal tool for the tiny plastic trim holders (to not to break them).

  46. spent a couple of days driving my work's company car. A 66plate mercedes a140 diesel. It was nice and smooth, the clutch was really light, but was totally gutless, spongy and the steering was numb. As I sat back in my car, the sparco seats hugging me as if the car had missed me. I started it up and was glad to hear the rattles from the smf. It took a few minutes to familiarise myself with the clutch pedal as it is much heavier than the merc. It felt great having to put more effort into every gear change. It felt more rewarding. the stiffened suspension inviting me to tackle the corners and I smiled. the merc was nice, but reminded me why I much prefer the noisy 12 year old skoda

  47. As a child, I used to love drawing cars and would spend ages designing new models. Rather surprisingly, nobody from BL, Ford, VW or any other manufacturer ever approached me with a view to producing my designs so I decided to set up my own company. Needing a name for my new brand, I employed the services of a consultant (AKA my Mum) to make some suggestions. The chosen name, Kephigo (made up from bits of my forename, middle name and surname), was quite brilliant, sounding vaguely European whilst also sounding a bit like the Austin Montego, which was a car that I knew my Dad wished he would be able to afford one day. With a great name and some amazing designs that combined the best bits from the General Lee from The Dukes of Hazard, the A Team's GMC Ventura van, the Ford Gran Torino from Starsky and Hutch and The Fall Guy's Chevy pick-up with those from my Dad's Austin Maxi, how could the project fail? Alas, it did due to one small oversight on my part - whilst there was absolutely nothing wrong with the designs I realise now that it was unfair of me to expect my brother to develop the engineering and business prowess to get the project off the ground. Unfortunately, he was more interested in pulling wheelies on his Grifter so I am now driving a Skoda and NOT a Kephigo.

  48. Modified the breather system and reconnected the rocker covers to the inlet manifold to create a bit of suction as the engine was oozing oil form every orifice, seems to be better. Also fitted some new mirrors as the old ones were just dead weight. Fitted some expensive real carbon ones that look fake and cheap.. Popped up to Goudhurst for another go for at the clubs photography competition.. Best shot below.

Challenging roads, no rain but wet surfaces, Headed towards the coast again, forgot to tell Steve about the bump in the Camber Road until I saw him almost fly out of his car, lucky he had his seatbelt on. Back to the 1066 café to mix it with the bikers, nice retro Honda below..
