  1. We sure were! An amazing weekend at the last CSCC event of the year. With 5 Fiestas taking part in the Tin Tops race and 3 in the night race we had a busy day. The track was wet, greasy and extremely slippery after the recent truck racing, with about 20% of cars not finishing some races. But all of our Fiestas finished every race. We took the outright win in Tin Tops and 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th in class. Then we took the win in the mixed night race too with all 3 cars in the top 10 out of 30 cars, 1st and 3rd overall. Amazing results, top drives and huge fun with a great pit atmosphere. Really can't thank everyone that helped out, worked on the cars, drove and ran support enough. Thank you so much, such a great team of people. A brilliant way to finish the year.

  5. Agreed. I can just about detect the downchanges but certainly wouldn’t describe them as jerks. As to the auto-hold, I use 2 dabs. First dab of the throttle restarts the car (if auto stop start active), second disengages the autohold and moves the car off. I do find that if the engine is stopped and you just press the throttle, there is a little bit of a jerk as the engine starts and then moves off momentarily fighting the auto-hold.

  6. It’s the very fact that it ‘wasn’t gonna happen so why bother’. You should take things more seriously next time. Apathy was Trumps best friend.

  7. You remoaners just keep posting the same crap. When asked a question like I presented you can’t answer it or just change the subject. If you want a positive we are leaving the EU after a majority vote in a referendum. As far as I know that’s not changed so best get used to it or start preparing to move to another EU state. Crying on this forum won’t change the outcome.

  8. George the reason lawyers exist is because we have laws, and we have laws because at some stage or another non lawyers try to shaft one another for gain, then someone says "something must be done" and laws get passed. If people were decent and honest with one another and didn't try to shaft one another there'd be no need to have lawyers. Sadly human nature doesn't work that way. Oh and get with the programme, we do use skype instead of meetings 95% of the time and I couldn't tell you last time I sent a letter or fax. Years ago. I notice though you never tell us how you make a living just in case anyone ever criticises you. Not sure whether being a holier than thou paragon of virtue is much in demand these days but it seems to keep you occupied.

  12. According to information received from Skoda factory they evaluate this rattle as normal phenomenon:) and they will do nothing to solve this problem. One of the solution which is even more possible than Skoda factory action is like that all roads in Latvia, in Europe and in globe will be covered with asphalt:)

  13. Well I suppose they could be stopping production to tool up for the MY2019 280 4x4 replacement, but don't hold your breath. (PS this post is entirely speculative and has no basis in fact)

  14. Mine completely saved me once - on the A40 coming back from a hellish day of work, lapse in concentration and stopped me from ploughing into the car in front. Agree it shouldn’t be relied on, but certainly worked for me on the occasion it really needed to!

  15. Any one fit the door protectors from SuperSkoda? I bought a set and took them to the dealer to fit during PDI. Protectors fit just above the crease in the door skin and although they look too low I was surprised that when opening the door (very carefully) against the wall in the reflection they are just in the right place. Bought the under parcel shelf storage tray as well. Ideal for keeping all the junk away from the dog who lives in the boot when we a travelling thanks to the "foldawayable" parcel shelf. Had a MkII Octavia and fitted an additional bag hook in boot. Bought one for my new Octavia MkIII and guess what it already has two fitted

  16. Got mine fixed...well, I've found the problem. Had a wet floor in front drivers side and after sealing all doors (one of them 2-3 times) I've found the problem. Here's how: Ripped out interior/carpet Got a friend to spray with a water hose (start from bottom) Got inside the car with a flashlight to see where the water is coming from To my surprise all the water coming inside the car was running along the a-pillar and windshield from the top Seems like a former change of windshield was done poorly :( Used a lot of hours on this forum reading how to fix wet floors, but the problem was not the usual. But thanks from Denmark for being the best Skoda forum

  17. Also from reading on various forums, strut braces arent exactly beneficial apart from looks! your better off getting a whiteline RARB which from people on here transforms the car!!

  22. My 245 DSG is the first car I've had with stop start. It takes a while to get used to, but I now know when it will and won't switch the engine off. That being said, the reversing situation the OP mentions still catches me out from time to time!

  23. Hi guys, I have a Superb 2.0 TDI CR 140 (CFFB) MY2011, manual transmission and reading this post, I see my car could be affected. Is there a way to know if my car mounts a Sachs clutch w/o dismantle? Is there like any VIN number affected ? I would rather prefer to do a preventive maintenance before the gear box is affected and get a huge bill Thanks

  24. Primary reason I bought a 1.0 Octavia was I have to get my children mobile. I work shifts and live in the countryside. I wasn't giving up my BMW 520d to drive a p.o.s. 1 litre ancient Yaris or similar (Pre requisite in this country to insure new driver regardless of age is 1 litre car and still costs 1800 euro). Given the above and having driven the focus/civic/Kia/Hyundai options the Octavia stands head and shoulders above them all. The piddly little lawnmower engine is very charachterful and power is better than adequate, refinement very good, ride quite good, handling and driving dynamics are fine/ok,standard equipment is generous and you need to go out of your way to specify things like park assist thank god,and will most likely better the 40mpg the BMW was getting also the spaciousness advantage of the car over its competitors is considerable. In the meantime I'm driving a 200euro Almera till the Octavia turns up,should make the transition easy

  27. Its a pain in the a$$, It came off in 3 pieces unfortunately and that wasn't easy. Trim removal tools are essential i wouldn't do it with a screwdriver as you would definitely damage the paint o the bumper...

  28. I've only ever owned one diesel car (I'm ignoring several diesel motorhomes) which was an Audi A4 1.9TDI 130 Sport - which frustrated me a lot because I kept hitting the rev limit at around 4500 rpm, having come from petrol cars which had rev limits over 7000rpm. Now having owned a petrol car with an 8600rpm rev limit I think adjusting to a diesel would be a step too far for me.

  29. With several million DQ200's built it's not surprising there are several hundred gone wrong. That's the only one's we hear about. themanwithnoaim sums it up nicely and his is the only comment I've ever seen which praises the DQ200 because no-one posts on a forum with a "isn't the XXX gearbox good" thread.

  34. (From now on it will be refered to as DSG Fart) So lets continue that comment about the farting, this is actually a big deal. Traffic lights, no cars, open road, sport mode floor it (in DSG) are we saying its not going to fart!?

  36. Mine was ordered yesterday, I have a screenshot from something that looks like a Skoda order system, has order number, dealer code, uk port, options, model etc so they must have been accepting orders up until yesterday? It seems we will be seeing a few more of these on the road soon, I have not spotted once since I got interested in them. It's been years since I have driven a 'powerful' petrol car having been riding bikes instead, my last one was an S2000. I'm looking forward to having a practical car I can also go for a blast in while still having my other car for high mpg runs.

  37. In my opinion the brake thing doesn’t work reliably. Yes it does work sometimes, but equally sometimes you just drift to a near-stop and the engine cuts before you’ve come to rest, barely touching the brake. Other times you stop expecting the engine to cut, but it doesn’t. But a firm press on the brake will then make it stop.

  39. 1.9 tdi - then it's the water pump. This motor is notorious for this. You won't see any puddles or drips; it leaks inside the cam belt cover then evaporates on the engine block.

  40. I actually find it kinda interesting, the sort of complete subculture that has developed around this sort of thing and how open some people are about it. The Internet has not only helped cater for a variety of tastes that would previously leave people quite het up and perhaps pushed into more questionable behaviours, but more importantly has made those who cater to such tastes able to do so remotely and in much greater safety. Plus, of course, whoever makes money from peddling such stuff can continue to do so in a more regulated world. AH-HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAA!!!!!! No no no no no no no, they don't actually do this while at work!!! No, but there are a couple of girs here, where I work, who do this from home in their spare time... and no, I've not actually watched their channel. But yeah, it's way more than just stripping or lapdancing. It's a show in many ways. While there is a lot of sexual performance on various channels, they may also perform songs on request or play a game on one of the various apps, some do DIY while others read you stories from a book. One girl likes to wear a sexy maid's outfit and just cooks for people. Another just spins hula hoops. Whatever performers can think up, really. You'd be surprised what brings the tips in... and by how much people tip. A good deal of them simply chat with folks, for the most part. Plenty of blokes broadcast and you get many couples, too. It's rather brazen in its openness, in a way that feels weirdly Scandinavian, if that makes sense?

  41. Straight to the most recent, so 166 (2018). It completely replaces all your installed maps and included POI on your Columbus with the new data (as opposed to just modifying the old data). It does not delete any personal POI (PPOI) you may have already added (just in case that's a concern).

  42. Oh, and the thread you are referring to is almost 4 years old, and was last amended 18 months ago, so to say the info and screenshots are a little out of date is an understatement. A lot has changed with the MQB platform in the interim, we were at the cutting edge when those who helped compile and test those coding changes started pulling it all together. Many a long night learning German and poring over spreadsheets with 1000's of settings in pulled from many different variants of Octavia's, Golf's and Leon's. More importantly, the help of a good community of like minded individuals from all over Europe who were willing to experiment and contribute. I can no longer unlock the thread to edit since the site refresh, if I could TBH I would probably delete it as other forums and even people selling dodgy Android software have just passed it off as their own work. Someone even had the cheek to start a thread on the Kodiaq forum the other day and call it 'Skoda Kodiaq OBDeleven Adaptations - tried and tested ' FFS and then had a load of info pulled directly from the O3 VCDS tried & tested thread. Someone else can have the joy of working it all out again for the FL models I don't have the time anymore. With the rise of OBD11 I no longer publish anything, there are too many users out there with a dangerous tool in their hand and not a scoobies as to what they are doing. And guess what, it will be mine or Briskoda's fault when they mess something up and end up with a repair bill in the £100's because they weren't told to do something or didn't follow the steps to the letter ....... Another reason why I never posted anything to do with a safety system such as ABS etc - get that one wrong and you or someone else could end up dead. At the end of the day, it is all at your own risk.

  43. Until you have coded all of the modules the others will have fault codes on them. When you have finished, clear the codes. Simples. If you need telling to do that then you shouldn't be playing with VCDS. Why would you expect a function to work when you have multiple fault codes on multiple modules related to that function? First thing I do before performing any coding is clear all error codes and check they don't come back, and again after coding. Otherwise how are you sure you haven't made a mistake?

  44. Leaving aside the fact than my Skoda dealer up here is now Arnold Shark.. I chose the MK7 Golf 1.4 GT estate because it has a better mechanical & trim spec than the MK3 Octavia with a similar engine.. Yes the Octavia is 2inches longer in wheel base & a further 2inches longer outside of the WB (4inches O/A longer than Golf estate)..but I wasn't concerned by that. What I wanted was the multilink rear suspension....& having driven both suspensions on the same car I can tell the difference on our roads..& for that size of car it should have multilink suspension, I mean its not exactly "new"....all MK5 Golfs had it.. Also the sports seats are very comfortable...which is N/A on Octavia unless vRS..at the time of ordering..

  47. I've been through a few tuning options on other cars. Started off with one of the first DTUK tuning boxes and hated it, whilst it gave a lot of extra power it was very crude too. I got rid of it for a Superchips Bluefin which was a marked improvement over the DTUK, not as much power but a lot more refined. I had problems with the Bluefin though and had to take it off. Superchips were very helpful and provided additional maps to try but the problem persisted, eventually they refunded me. I then had the custom map done which was very good, smooth as you want it to be but when you planted your foot it was off. I then got the Skoda Octavia and knew it wasn't going to be a keeper so didn't touch it. I now have a 3 series diesel and had the chance of a ridiculously cheap DTUK CRD3. I got it just out of curiosity to see what they were like now with the three channel setup. I was surprised at just how good it is compared to a remap and I'm running it on the milder side. The beauty is you can fit it yourself within 30mins and remove it just as quick. If you sell the car it can be easily removed and sold on or fitted to another car of the same engine type or returned to DTUK for a new loom and reprogram for different car. If you share the car with your partner you can also switch it off if they don't like the extra power, something that would be useful for winter too when the last thing you need is more torque in the snow.
