Less interest Detailing nowadays?...
Still detailing mine, inside, outside, around the engine bay. Have had lots of time to do it, as I am self employed and have been off furloughed. Not much work has come back still, so gave the car a good wax early one morning last week before the sun came up. This pensioner still likes to wax on, wax off.

Octavia front and rear badges.
I looked on the AliExpress site again and found the badges I am after. Trouble is, you have to register as a member first before you can buy! I may easily be wrong of course, but I don't really want a Chinese company to have to many of my details. Why can't you just order and pay for what you want without having to sign up to their web site?

I will look again, cheers mate.

Octavia front and rear badges.
I did look on there the other day but could not find what I want. Have to have another look in case I missed them. As for the peg positions, at this moment I don't know what position they are meant to be in.

Octavia front and rear badges.
Yes I have got some bits from them in the past, but their prices for badges are stupidly high. I guess to spot their discount weekend coming up, they announce it on their site, yes? I really like their colour coded ones too, even better than black. I just find the original badges far too bright, as were the "Skoda" and "Octavia" rear badges, which I have already taken off. It's the VRS badge on the rear that needs changing as well! Too shiny!

Octavia front and rear badges.
Hi all As you can see, I own a MK3 Octavia. The bonnet and boot badges are both 90mm. Unlike my old MK2 Octavia, where they were 90mm and 80mm. What I want to do is change both 90mm badges for gloss black ones, but not sure where best to buy them from. By the look of them, they have a slight curve, especially the front one. I also don't know what the positioning pins at the rear look like, until I take the old ones off of course. Has anyone changed these badges off a MK3 Octavia and where did you get your black ones from? Seen plenty on ebay, but most of them come from China. Not sure whether they have pins on the back, the position of said pins and the build quality either. It would be good if the black badges I buy have no pins at all. Just have to position them accurately myself, as I did with my last Octavia when I changed the badges. I have seen some perfect ones on the Superskoda web site, even ones that match the colour of my car, Quartz Grey, nice. But at 44.99 euros each, they are taking the p--s. Informed advice needed please.

Window deflectors
I had a bit of trouble getting a couple of widows to go fully up after fitment. I then held the switch in the up position and pushed the window up by pushing on the glass at the same time. After a couple of tries the windows went fully up. After that, they were never a problem again.

New Member - new to Skoda!
Welcome new member Sparky572. My previous car was a MK2 Octavia fl TSI. I fitted a load of mods, including a stage one remap taking it from 200bhp to 250bhp. Made a nice difference to the power and torque of the vehicle. I loved it so much my present car is a late MK3 Octavia VRS TSI. Also mapped from 230bhp, although it was from the factory running a bit more than that, to a now healthy 329bhp. These vehicles are great and they certainly love a remap. I think you will have lots of fun with your new car, but watch out, as once you mod you just can't stop. Bit like Pringles. lol. By the way, you have also just joined a very informative friendly site.

Sd card for sat nav
A member on here, "Rustynuts" supplies Skoda SD cards for nav. I got an updated one off him last year, as I did not trust myself to download updates for the one I already had.

How to adjust distance on self levelling LED lights
Don't think it is a simple process. I took my car back to the garage to have it done and they informed me that they had erased the necessary software on their computer, ready to download some new updated software from VW, before the lights could be aligned. There was a delay in getting this software from VW. Had to go back the next day when their VW download was complete and even then it took around an hour. Lights perfect now thank goodness.

Octavia vRS 2.0 TSI Mark3 “modes”
It's early days yet with the clutch, but at the moment no clutch slip. As for mileage, I did a 200 mile round trip the other day to Stanstead airport from Didcot. Bit of country road and then motorway. The on board computer showed an average of of 41mpg. In other words, no better than I would expect, but certainly no worse.

Octavia vRS 2.0 TSI Mark3 “modes”
If you go with a quality mapping company, you should see over 300bhp. I have just mapped my car with Racingline OEM maps. Stock power was shown on the rolling road as above Skoda figures and after the stage one map the car achieved 329bhp with 499nm or torque. There are no other hardware mods on the car either. The guy who mapped the car did say I had an extremely healthy car to start with. Bloomin thing really does shift now, very enjoyable, as well as useful at times.

How to adjust distance on self levelling LED lights
Yes I did see some white plastic hex screws, one near the dip bulb and the other near the main beam one. Initially wondered if they were linked to adjustment, but I did not want to fiddle and get it wrong, as LED headlights can be very blinding to any oncoming driver.

Thanks Phil-E. You know with all the tech in modern cars nowadays, I had a feeling that would be the case. It's back to the garage then tomorrow.

How to adjust distance on self levelling LED lights
My car got badly damaged last February while parked overnight by a hit and run driver. As part of the £5.5k repair the garage fitted a new O/S headlight. Last night was the first time I drove it in the dark and sadly found it quite dangerous. The new headlight was only throwing out light at a rough distance on dip, of around 15mtrs. With LED of course, once the set distance has been reached, light cuts straight down to darkness ahead. Other light bulbs will still throw a bit more light ahead when set distance has been reached. So the road straight ahead is only lit for a short distance on dipped lights. On the dark country roads, if there was something or somebody ahead in the middle of the road, I would spot them probably too late to avoid. These are self levelling lights and this system does seem to be working, as they set themselves with the usual up and down movement as soon as you switch the lights on. Is there a simple way to adjust distance on the headlight, or do I have to take it all the way back to the garage that did the job this Monday morning? Maybe a Skoda Technician can answer this one.

Is a Racingline map worth the extra money?
My tuner said the same thing regarding using higher octane fuel. He stated some drivers have had engine problems when using lower grade fuel. I used to use 95 octane for 3 tank fills and better fuel for the 4th. It's the best fuel all the way now, even if it does cost me with the amount of miles I usually do when working. Must admit mind, when I had my last VRS TSI Octavia mapped, it did for the majority of fills, get the 95 octane. Never had a problem in the last 40-50k miles that it had the map on. It did however only go from 200bhp to 250bhp. Maybe I was just lucky! REMAP DYNO PRINTOUT (1).pdf

Looking to buy a VRS Petrol
I live in Didcot Oxfordshire just off the A34 and since the virus the roads are a lot quieter than they used to be. Try not to hit the M40 north bound from the A34 though in the middle to late afternoon, as although better than before, it can still be queues of traffic.

Most stage one maps will get you to 300bhp easily. Good luck with your car purchase mate.

Looking to buy a VRS Petrol
I used a very reputable map company, Racingline. On the first dyno run it showed a fair bit above 230bhp, as is very often the case with these TSI engines. Once mapped it achieved 329bhp with 499nm of torque. It's now a bloomin beast. Getting 2 new Michelin PS4S better grip tyres to fit on the front tomorrow, as my car is still on it's original tyres, Pirelli Zeros. They still have a good 4mm of tread, but as expected can't handle the extra power. I am with LV insurance and they only charged me £16 for the last 7 months I have left on the policy. So around £30 per year extra for the remap, not too bad at all.
