IIRC, it has a clamp of some sort holding it to the shaft that you can't get to very easily. You can't just unscrew it or pull it off with brute force...
You should be able to remove or unclip the gaitor from the base somehow, push it up like an umbrella and you should see the clip/clamp. No idea if you can reuse it or if you'd have to cut it off and replace. Either way, you'd have to make sure the new knob is attached firmly ;-)
( Was many years ago that I looked at this on my old fabia, but I'm sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong... )

I had the ABS warning light on and off when I had the fabia. After reading up on the symptoms I thought it was the pump. Turned out to be one of the fuses by the battery - £2 to fix :-)

Android is a really good idea, but googles open approach to it, could be its downfall. From everything im reading it does look like being Windows for Mobile phones, ie there are millions of applications, but the fragmentation in the market means you cant just download an app, and know it'll work, because of all the different configurations, screen sizes, interfaces, etc.
If only the market had millions of apps I've had an Android handset for quite a while now, and a lot of the apps are fairly awful. Don't expect any games close to those on the iPhone, and finding websites that review android apps is quite a challenge. http://www.planetandroid.com/ is a useful place to start if you are looking...
Apart from the drawbacks with the market / apps, the actual OS is pretty good to use though, with fairly slick integration with everything google does...

When they ask you if you have any questions, roll out my favourite:
"What do YOU enjoy about working here the most?"
Usually makes them sweat a little, and they'll certainly remember you

Big?
You should hear him parp.... whoah!
(He's a cutie really, even enjoys his daddy cuddling him )

After getting a macbook my PC is consigned to downloading torrents and the odd spot of warcraft. I used to think of Apples as expensive toys (which in some ways they are) but the presentation and software (and OS X) are top notch. Great for doing stuff from my camcorder and/or creating dvds, for example...
At the end of the day you can do everything on a mac that you can on a PC... but it just seems nicer on a mac for some reason
Now, roll on the fabled 3g iPhone....

Watching the Bumper Car vid reminded me of the journey up there :P
It wasn't that bad (The bumper cars....)
Drive up was good fun

Remap is tempting although cost per bhp gained isn't really too exciting!
Mine was relatively "sporty" but these days i'm just glad it hasn't fallen apart (I'm thinking the fate of the blues brothers' car at the end of the film for some reason...).
Best advice I can give is to drive a slower car now and again, then the 1.4 seems pretty fun. Still a laugh if you don't mind revving it a lot

Happy birthday... xx

20 mies from me, so definitely possible...
No idea if I'm/we're free that day right now though. I need to learn how to use a calendar or something

Fitted vrs alloys on my 1.4 16v, with no changes to bolts many years ago...
Now, if i could be bothered to clean the car, they'd look nice again...

Night out? Not heard of bittorrent?

over-hyped, over-rated and pretty boring... ultimately, do i care if a bunch of septics get killed by the monster? :P

I know, but I'd never used SPs for that purpose before, so I thought I'd go crazy

If you have SQL installed you could use stored procedures to call the files you need...
I have an application at work that calls simple stuff like ping, tracert, etc, on the server to check connectivity. Works like a charm...

I suppose I could wheel out the old 1.4 for this
1) Des and Dawn
2) Stu & Chrissi
3) Andy and Kat
4) Steve & Kathy ( lfc958+ SWMBO)
5) Ant & Tory
6) Gerry & Sandra
7) Dave and Sandy
8) Richie, Tracy and Ben
9) MissKia
10) Hedge
11) Makefish & Family
12) Stimps

I imagine the morning will be fine
Famous last words....

Thanks for the heads up - I must check around for some more filters - quite like my flash washer. Think I've got spares somewhere however, which should last a long while given how infrequently I wash my car!

Hayes in Little Clacton used to be fantastic for service & friendliness - although at some point in the last couple of years it got new management and now appears to be a standard faceless dealership. Might be worth a try still if any of the old guard are still there...
Not tried the Colchester one (Underwoods?) or Potters (outside town in Marks Tey), apart from having a look at their cars one day - they seemed ok, but all I remember is them having an octy wrc at a really stupid price :P

Got 16" vRS alloys on mine (16v Fab) replacing the standard 14" wheels - couldn't really notice any difference in performance, and the speedo seems about right - GPS speed is slightly lower than indicated, but that's to be expected?

Here's the perfect link for you...

Tried it many years ago - really f**ked it up
Basically - too much paint on surrounds, which stopped the vents moving. And to top things off, snapped a vent being heavy handed.
Replacements (2xside, 1xcentre) come to about £100 or so, IIRC
Essex meet in August

I think I'm free that weekend so we might be able make it. Only 20 minutes away, if that.
