Attempting to be off sick. Boss keeps calling to give me work to do.

Gah don't you hate it when you accidentally skip an episode of a TV show and see the "Previously" bit and it tells you the critical bit that you missed but you still have to go back and watch the missed show even though you know what's going to happen at the end in case you missed something else?

Dr Who Symphonic Spectacular was really good. I didn't film the whole thing on my phone like half the people around us but I did take a few photos.

Melanie has arrived in Auckland. 10 hours to Cannonball. It's on!

Car is back in one piece. Road test, WOF and final dyno still to do. Looking promising.

Really starting to stress now. We set off for Auckland in 45 hours. I reckon stickering up the car will take at least 4 hours, maybe more as the vinyl will be tricky. My car still has no gearbox installed and I don't yet know if they can make the clutch work with all of the torques. They have to do the work on the clutch, get it 40km up the road to the mechanic then he has to re-fit everything, and complete the dyno work. I hate being last-minute!

Glanced out of the window to see a dozen sparrows hopping around the deck eating seed from around a fallen comrade that one of the cats had murdered.Picked it up in a bag, went out the back to put it in the bin to find another dead sparrow on the step.Noodle got to it first and ate it, wagging her tail and looking pleased with herself.

Have they been polishing the slides at Chipmunks Wellington - Playland & Cafe?I went down them a few times with Libby and they're super fast! Managed to burn skin off both elbows and now I have big scabs! Maybe I was wearing my best sliding trousers.

Here's a thing they don't tell you about when you become a parent: how many accidental pokes in the eye and kicks in the *******s you're going to get.

I definitely did not just try riding Libby's tiny bike, forget about the pedal-back-brake, stop suddenly and go over the handlebars. Definitely not.

Christmas!

They should have Christmas on the same day each year, then it wouldn't keep taking me by surprise every time.Haven't posted any cards yet. Erm, bugger.

Well the cooker is working after Melanie mucked about with it then gave it a smack (seriously!)Next problem is the dog, who not only has fleas (just been to the vet and spent a fortune on flea stuff) but she's also just about to come into season, the timing works out that she'll probably be fertile when she's in kennels for our holidays.If they'll take her of course.

When's the worst time for your oven to break? December 23rd after the shops close would be a good candidate. Huge turkey half defrosted in the kitchen and people coming for Christmas dinner. Yay.

Wall-E is a pretty dark and depressing vision of the future.

What a night - Libby got up at 2:30am and went back to bed about 4:30ish. Everyone's feeling a bit tired and grumpy.

I'm re-watching Star Trek TNG and thoroughly enjoying it, thanks to Adam and Marion. After nearly two seasons I've come to the conclusion that without Data they would be in serious trouble for both getting out of sticky situations, and for episode plots.There are quite a few I haven't seen. And I certainly don't remember that surprisingly gory ending to the first season. Pretty sure BBC2 skipped that episode.

Libby was super-brave at the doctor's as they glued her scalp back together (with purple glue, which she liked a lot)She somehow fell off the toilet and got a 1cm long cut when she caught herself on the metal toilet roll holder.

Parked next to a BMW at Libby's daycare this morning. 3 Series with M badges, engine running, handbag on passenger seat, iPhone laying on centre console. No-one in sight for a good five minutes. Some people are very trusting!
