Enabling High Beam Assist using a Kufatec dongle
JonSIII replied to richardjh's topic in Skoda Superb Mk III (2015 - 2023)
I had a Kufatec dongle to supposedly enable auto-lights on my A3 a couple of years ago after switching the sensor from wipers only to wipers + lights. ... It never worked. I had to dig around til I found the code I needed to change using Carista. -
Android Auto / Apple Carplay not recognising devices
JonSIII replied to CoolC's topic in Skoda Superb Mk III (2015 - 2023)
I have this every so often. Proper reboot of the head unit usually sorts that out. Press and hold for 10-12 seconds as someone said earlier then it lets me choose Phone -> Carplay. -
NOISE FROM TIMING BELT AREA ! !
JonSIII replied to AKASILVERBACK's topic in Skoda Superb Mk III (2015 - 2023)
I had this last winter at around 19k. MSB Skoda replaced the belt, tensioners and pulleys under warranty, no questions asked. -
I’ve had this a few times. The DAB option vanishes from the Columbus and if I leave it on Media long enough it will start an MP3, but FM radio works fine. Only fix I’ve found is to press and hold the power button for ten seconds or so and let it reboot. Comes straight back on.

Hi @GrahamVRS I ended up with a torn achilles tendon. Took some time to resolve.

Retrofit better screen
JonSIII replied to Bob-thebuilder's topic in Skoda Superb Mk III (2015 - 2023)
VAG’s component protection will make it more difficult than that. You’ll need a legitimate way around it so it’ll be at least partly a dealer/VAG specialist job. -
Excited convert-to-be from Audi
JonSIII replied to lobsta100's topic in Skoda Superb Mk III (2015 - 2023)
I made the change from an A3 Sportback to a Superb Sportline last Friday and so far I can't think of anything that I preferred about the Audi over the Skoda. It's early days but at the moment I can't see why I would go back to Audi. You've made the right decision! -
North east darlington area code reader help?
JonSIII replied to tommccabevRS's topic in Diagnostics & VCDS
I've got VCDS and I'll stick it back on my work laptop sometime if you're still desperate. -
LED bulbs for rear lights.
JonSIII replied to billywhiz040480's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
I've done all the indicators with cheapo eBay SMD's. Recently installed Cree's for reversing too but they're giving a bulb out warning when they're tested on engine start. To be honest I didn't have the guts to buy enough bulbs to do stop/tail only for them to give bulb out warnings. Indicators were fine though, no warnings with those. -
I've yet to find the answer on here so I'll add that if you buy the piano black Columbus surround, the numbers for the piano black ashtray and gear gaiter surround to match are 1Z2863212N77 and 1Z2857962N77 respectively.

I bought the old N40L, added Server 2012 and 8GB RAM and it's got about 6TB of RAID'd storage now. Definitely recommend the unit at the cashback price. I've got no affiliation to them but look in the Computers and Networking forum on AVForums.com and there's some tremendous threads about the different versions of the Microserver along with some BIOS upgrades that enable faster SATA ports and better RAID levels. Radio upgrade on 06 Octavia II
JonSIII replied to Paul Milam's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
The newer Amundsen unit will do the job. It's got built-in Bluetooth too that only needs enabling with VCDS. You'd have to manually install the OEM mic in the light unit but it's as OEM as you can get. Here's the install guide - http://www.briskoda....install-how-to/# Edited to add: not sure about video playback actually. I guess it's definitely the Columbus plus OEM Bluetooth module if that's a priority. -
I've gone for 35mm springs and I'll use standard shocks. I've bought them but I'm still to put them on. I had KW V2 coilovers on my last Octavia VRS and my 04 Fabia VRS had the Eibach springs and damper combo, so I've had a couple of combinations before. The -35mm and standard shock argument seems to go on forever in the forums but I reckon you're about on the limit for the shocks at that height. HR -45mm springs would definitely need the dampers changing. I've been out in a car on Eibach springs with standard shocks and there wasn't any bounciness. I'm fully prepared to have to replace the shocks if the ride is terrible but I'm happy to just do the springs and see how I go, but I don't anticipate any major problems going on others' experience.

Well I pickup a fourth VRS tomorrow morning so I'm going to get back into the whole car forum thing. I had a couple of VAG cars a few years ago and did the whole forum and meet-up thing and went to a few Edition 38's over the years but I guess I grew a bit tired of it. I've got through two Fabia VRS' (one of them being a limited edition if anybody's seen L19 VRS anywhere in the last couple of years!) and a TFSI Octavia that I should never have sold, but increasing miles for work made me concentrate on MPG too much. ... so tomorrow I'm off to Sheffield to collect a fully-loaded FL TDI VRS and I'm really looking forward to it. There's already a Columbus, new plates, LED's and blinds waiting to go into it so I'll have my hands full over the weekend, weather permitting. Anyway, I've been lurking a fair bit over the last few months while I considered another Octavia. Now that I've decided I'll be sure to be much more active on here Jon

Quick guide to fitting BOV/Changing DV etc.

You've got more guts than I have to go three feet under a car balanced on two trolley jacks! Nice write-up Damo
