Octavia III Photos - no disguise
Evening Star replied to Jabozuma's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
I'm torn between a Golf Mk VII or Kia Sportage KX-4 Auto. The Golf is £27,700, the Sportage which is a bigger car with 4WD + Sunroof, Bluetooth, Park Assist (inc Parking Sensors), Keyless Entry, Sat Nav etc, etc is £27,100 (that's a £2,800 discount!) with Metallic Paint & of course the ubiquitous 7 year warranty. VW are offering £8,250 for my Octy, Kia £8k, I can't get an insurance quote for the Golf, the insurance for the Kia is just £250 fully comp. -
I must admit I've had two windscreens go over the last 5 years & each time I have used Autoglass and their service has been exemplary. My dad had one go & used another one and he had to have it removed & refitted because they bodged it. Can't remember who did it though.

It's a shame that from what I've seen written around the forum, that the Fabia vRS's engine seems to have the life span of a daddy longlegs. -

Be too late for me I'm afraid. I'm now deciding between a Mk7 Golf (yes I know it's smaller) & Kia either Sportage or 'Ceed. I'm not sure which one I going for yet. Shame I've liked my Skoda a lot, it's just they haven't kept up with the pack and now I think it's time to move on after just one car because I can't find what I want in their current range, C'est la vie! -
Just be aware that Plumpton only receives a limited service & a few extra services on race days. So be careful as 90-95% go racing through at 80-90mph!

Gatwick Airport, Haywards Heath & that's about it.

I had my screen chipped a while back, I was lucky as I was extremely close to an Autoglass centre and I popped in and paid £10 and had the chip repaired.

Car PCPs - Anyone on one or have used one?
Evening Star replied to Evening Star's topic in The Roadside Hotel
Well having had one fully explained to me I have decided the best route for me isn't the PCP route to a new car, but use the traditional route of a bank loan. Whilst they payments are higher, the interest rate I can get with online applications is broadly similar with VW & BMW Solutions at 5,6 - 7%, It's a bit more expensive than Kia's at 4,9%. The reason I decided not to do this route was the balloon payment at the end of it, it basically cancels out the outstanding debt if you don't want another car of the same make and leaves you with nothing, no car, no collateral to put down on a different car. You will have to start from absolute scratch. So as I have said previously, whilst the payments on a ordinary bank loan maybe much harsher, it does leave me with the option to sell it & repay it should the need arise, but also after the agreement period & final payment I will have a car to my name & I will be able to use it to fund the next one. -

Isn't it odd? We celebrate a terrorist activity with fireworks & bonfires. Yet we don't celebrate other ones do we? Strange how things change! -
Make sure you have a GFX card driver which activates HD Audio over the HDMI connection. The latest ones from Nvidia do, they also add Physix & 3D capabilities too, mind you I do have a 2Gb GFX card on board.

Because they don't know how much bloatware it puts on their system or how much it slows it down. You can get better elsewhere & occasionally for free, I was thinking about a Nexus 7 32Gb Wi-Fi+Cellular for £240 which becomes available on 13/11/12, for possible use as a Sat Nav & Web browser.

Needs a 2ltr engine + DSG.

Evening Star replied to Jabozuma's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
Ha Bloody Ha. It's the front end I don't like to look of in that picture, From what I've seen of the interior shot of the console it looks OK, not fantastic but OK. However, I don't believe that SUK will get the specifications & pricing right (if the rapid is anything to go by!) and I think that with the unveiling & official launch being weeks & months away, I think it will be far too late for my custom. -
Well I won't be sad to see the demise of Comet. I find them expensive, no.... VERY Expensive. The shop in Guildford is so large, yet it's nearly always deserted, because it's out of town on the old A3/Woodbridge Road on the Europa Park. I rarely go there because of their pricing policy, they will never compete, I went for a camcorder, I did my research and I went into town and did some price checking, I thought I would get it from Comet as it's big & as it's only 5 mins from work, yet it was nearly 20% more expensive than in town, I asked if they would price match the price I could get in town, the answer was NO. So I took my custom & £900 elsewhere, which with hindsight was a good idea, because I was able to get more for my money in town than from Comet. Parents wanted a Washer/Dryer, Yet Comet actually did them a deal and they saved £90. Very odd.

Hatoon? It appears to be a hybrid. I also notice that you can no longer configure ANY Octavia's on the SUK website. -

Just for a laugh I specced up a 1,4 122bhp DSG, to what I would want. It would cost £21k & still not have loads of stuff missing from it, it seems to be an exceptionally odd pricing/specification strategy on behalf of SUK, when you consider that I paid £21k for a fully specced up Elegance 3 years ago! If you spec up a new Seat Toledo SE, you will get far more for the same price, you will get a even better specced DCT Kia Ceed with Bluetooth, Xenons, full dual zone climate control for £2k more & you get the amazing 7 year warranty! The more searching I'm doing, the more it makes the Rapid seem pretty poor VFM. -
