Well you were all probably wondering what i did to have the wild idea of spraying the MFD3 surround.

Well here it is. I have always liked my octy since day 1 however something has niggled me about the front end. Im still not sure about it after what i have done but i do think it looks ok.

Basically i have painted race blue the 2 end pieces of the lower bumper grill being cafrefull to make sure i left black on it so it didnt make the centre piece look un finished. The front end now has more of a V shape and im gonna leave it this way to see if it grows on me even more. My girlfriend liked it a lot but i thought i'd let you lot have a look and see what you think

Just click your choice in the simple poll

As for what you need

1 x Tin of Plasticote plastic primer (get it from B&Q)

1 x Tin of Skoda Race Blue Paint. Code is 8X8X (yes i know people say other numbers but i have included a photo of the tin so you can take the full series of numbers if you wish)

1 x Tin of clear Lacquer (Comes with Blue when you order it)

A bit of masking Tape

A bit of patience

Firstly ensure parts are clean

Spray with 2 coats of plastic primer (it says 10 mins between coats but i left it an hour due to the grooved nature of the grill pieces)

The next bit is up to you but i gave it 4 coats of Blue (minimum of 2) to build up a nice layer allowing 2 hours between coats and allowing to dry overnight for final coat

Then again personal preference but again i used 4 coats of lacquer to get a good finish (minimum of 2) allowing 2 hours again between coats and final coat overnight

The end result is as below

Incase you fook it up the part No.s for the plastic bits are

1Z0 853 665A

1Z0 853 666A

Tell me what you think

How much was the paint?

IIRC (and i bought it some time ago) it was about £10 give or take from a skoda dealer.

The primer was around about the same from B&Q

I just hadn't gotten round to doing yet with work commitments

vorschprung durch technik (or something like that)

spell check wouldn't work on this post!?

you mean vorsprung durch technik? which means advancement through technology :P:P:P

I like it mate:thumbup:

Top Job... Really like that. :D

I like that - a lot

And for those that asked....here is the Skoda UK link for the paint - ?koda Accessories - £9.00 RRP

The part number (HFB381084) matches Carl's piccie of the spray tin above.

I like it, looks great.

I would suggest you paint the surround of the centre grille though.. masking off the fins individually to keep em black.. That said... it'd be a pig of a job to do that!

Rob :D
