EPC Warning light

Recommended Posts

My wife just called me and said the EPC warning light is on the dash and another lamp she described as looking like an engine is also on. I have a Fabia 2006 Sportline and it has just been serviced for hte 60,000 km service. Do you have any idea what these lamps mean? Can she drive it home on a 30 minute commute?

Thanks

David

"...EPC on...60_000km service." - That means that the garage has just signally fvcked up! ;)

I'd drive it back to the garage, and politely tell them to fix this and give me a free courtesy car whilst they did so!

From the Owner's Manual:

EPC EPC fault light (petrol engine)

The EPC (Electronic Power Control) warning light comes on for a few seconds when the ignition is switched on.

There is a system fault in the engine control system if the warning light EPC does not go out or comes on or flashes while driving. The engine management system selects an emergency programme which enables you to drive to the nearest specialist garage by adopting a gentle style of driving.

Control system for exhaust gases (engine symbol)

The (engine symbol) warning light comes on after the ignition has been switched on.

If the warning light does not go out after starting the engine or it lights up or flashes when driving, a fault exists in an exhaust relevant component. The engine management system selects an emergency programme which enables you to drive to the nearest specialist garage by adopting a gentle style of driving.

This happened to my 04 fabia 1.2 50 miles from home, it turned out to be an easy fix as I opened the bonnet and took off the cover, the cover is also an air box and to the right it connects to the engine, basically the seal broke off the air box and jammed in that part which caused the light to come on and the car went into emergency mode, I simply removed the seal and the car runs perfect again
