Rough Road Pack

The Plumber

Recommended Posts

The Rough Road Pack option provides additional protection to areas of the Yeti particularly underneath that could be damaged if the vehicle is driven over rough ground or on gravel roads.

There are two specifications of this pack;

Production start to 01.08.10

02.08.2010 to present

Highlighted below are the principle areas with additional protection underneath, based on the initial specification offered (Skoda publicity image)

Additional note:

Yeti's fitted with the either version of the Rough Road Pack, have what the manufacture describes as a reinforced brake fluid distribution system and hand-brake cable. The rear rigid brake pipe lines to the left and right rear brake hoses, plus handbrake cables and associated rear brackets, therefore have different part numbers to those normally fitted to the Yeti.

Brake Cable - 1K0 609 721 BB

Brake cable bracket (11mm) - 1K0 609 651 C

Brake line to hose LH - 1K0 614 741 AH

Brake line to hose RH - 1K0 614 742 AJ

Original specification Rough Road Pack; production start to 01.08.10

The following photos were taken of a RHD 4x4 SE which was built WK42/09 (MY2010)

The main component is a steel protective 'skid plate' under the engine bay (this replaces the standard noise insulation panel).

Note the rear of the skid plate is attached to the cast aluminium assemble carrier.

Additional stone chip guard panels are fitted over the triangular section at the rear of the standard under-body trim panels attached either side of the central tunnel for added protection to fuel and brake pipes (Note: these additional panels appear to have only been fitted to some RRP equipped Yeti's)

Plastic stone guards are fitted to both rear lower wishbones (axle beams), covering the front and lower face of the beam and protecting the frontal area of the coil spring.

A protective foil film is fitted to the rear doors to guard against paint chipping (a number of owners have reported this to be a problem on vehicles without the film).

It looks like the 5K0 825 90x (5C6 825 90x) thermoplastic engine protection has been withdrawn from production. I was trying to order one recently but suppliers refuse to supply it. The only engine shield that is listed in the current catalogues is a steel one - 1K0 018 930. The latter seems incompatible with the previous mounts though.

Having damaged some of the rrp panels when I went offroad a year ago, it cost about £200 for the replacements, but it was only the panels under the offside, and the dealer had problems finding the right one, it seems like they have changed the design a few times.

Here are a couple of photos of my new Octavia III 4x4 estate which has option 2UF fitted (Chassis with increased ride height). As you can see it is also fitted with the thermoplastic sump guard and underbody protection so this appears to be essentially the same as the RRP (option 2UB).

The picture above shows the sumpguard.

Octavia 3 Underbody Protection (nearside) towards rear axle

The picture above shows the underbody protection on the nearside towards the rear.

Octavia 3 4x4 Rear Diff

Just for interest, the picture above shows the rear diff on the 4x4.

For some reason I can't further edit my post above, but one comment I wanted to add to the note after the picture of the rear diff is that this picture also shows the exhaust running under the rear axle, and this is the lowest point under the car. The actual clearance under the body is probably more than 150mm over most of the car, maybe 160mm or more, but this is reduced by the exhaust which is the lowest point. I wonder whether the Scout will be any different in this respect?

From the pics your car has an RRP, note also the plastic guards on the rear suspension beams.

Exhaust could have maybe be better designed by Skoda but there's a lot of bits back there to have to work round.

Thanks for posting,

Read this with interest. I've recently acquired a 2010 cr170 elegance and just noted the car has the following option code

2UB SWP Rough-road design

Is this the 'rough road pack' referred to above or is it something else? I guess I could have a look underneath but it's cold, dark and wet out there and I'm very comfy in my armchair!

Agreed, it's the one area that's let me down whilst off-roading in my Yeti. The silencer needs a sloping skid plate at the front so that it helps the silencer ride up and over centre-of-the-road obstacles. Instead, it tends to catch on rocks etc and pull the whole exhaust system backwards thus disengaging the front support arms from their rubber mounts. This causes the exhaust to hang lower and rattle when going over bumps. It's fairly easy to fix but a pain when you have to jack up and work under a muddy vehicle.
