I bolted mine to the air box as well, it works well and doesn't rattle at all. You gonna baffle the catch can?

Its got a filter inside it, attached to the top outlet pipe, its definately the best place to have it

The plan for this weekend is to check all torque's for the subframe and suspension components then remove, clean and regrease the ARB bushes. I'm going to work a week at a time and check each component. It seems the only logical way of getting to the bottom of this noise.

Right well its been a while since I had anything worth updating about so here we go.

Hired a rug doctor from Morrisons at the weekend, £24 for 24 hours that was including a bottle of their anti-foam solution.

I was quite surprised at how well it cleaned up the seats considering it was only using warm water, the anti foam solution was only used to stop it from foaming rather than actually cleaning it.

This is what came out;

2012-03-23160741.jpg

Anyway with that done I went onto changing my rear beam bushes for Powerflex bushes and swapping to Ibiza FR bumpstops.

2012-03-24094400.jpg

2012-03-25121125.jpg

Removing the bushes proved to be a bit of a pain, so did fitting the new ones so I make up a tool to help fitting them.

2012-03-25124009.jpg

2012-03-25130457.jpg

Putting everything back together again i.e. shocks, springs, liners and RARB was pretty simple, I took the opportunity to clean and regrease the RARB bushes since it was off.

So far I've noticed that there is no more creaking noise from the rear and it feels much stiffer and more planted when cornering.

I also changed the fuel filter and replaced the glovebox light with an LED.

Once I've paid this years road tax and gone through the mot it'll hopefully be remap time now that I've uprated the brakes and suspension its time for some more power!

Got round to doing a few odd jobs on Monday since the weather was nice, got the windows cleaned and polished using Autoglym Car Glass Polish and also the wheels sealed using Poorboys Wheel Sealant then some tyre foam to finish it off. Also cleaned up the exhaust tip with some metal polish. For the pieces of plastic trim, mudflaps and splitter I used peanut butter, using a small ammount on a microfibre, carefully applied and then wiped off gives very good results, definately worth it for less than a £1! Oh and I'd use smooth rather than the stuff with chunks!

Finally the car has been remapped by Angel Tuning, extremely happy with map, great service and very well priced at £195. I would highly recommend them to anyone interested. According to Paul who did the remapping he thinks its about 180bhp and 290-295 lbs.ft, obviously these are just guesses until I can get it on a RR which I found out there is a privately owned one 5 minutes from my house, so going there in a few weeks time. The car pulls well from 18,000 rpm through to 44,000 rpm and it still has plenty of grunt in 5th gear. Overall extremely happy but also quite glad I improved the handling and braking first!

Getting on well man cheers you? yeah car is going, been looking at supercharged civic type r's cus my mate got one its insane. Yeah i had a long talk about it with a few mates and couldnt justify spending the extra money when i can go out and buy a car which is built for the bhp and is cheaper on insurance so was a no brainy really. you gonna stage 2 yours man?

Yeah I'm good thanks. Supercharged Type R would be awesome! I'm having the same thoughts as you really, do I spend a few £k's more on this or save them and go for something bigger and more powerfull. My biggest problem at the moment is insurance so realistically I'll be sticking with the Fabia for another year at least I think. I'm undecided on stage 2 but it would keep things interesting, the thought of a 200 bhp+ diesel is quite tempting but a mk2 S3 is even more tempting!

Not much to report, just done a few things here and there.

After some reading I decided to try the Cage Mod -

Car is much smoother on idle and sounds healthier but that's about it.

Got some free LED strips so decided to add some footwell lighting.

I done this about 3 weeks ago still haven't driven with them in actual darkness so no idea what they will be like.

Also changed the TIP as it sounded like mine was burst or something, on heavy acceleration you could hear a loud sort of rushing air sound so bought 2 silicone couplers from Samco for £20ish, had the pipe in the garage and sourced some jubilee clips.

I also added lighting in the boot but it needs a bit of tweaking.

Anyway like I said not much to show for the last few months, need to get detailing soon though, the bodywork is looking pretty rough!

When you have the shock out the car, take the top nut off the rod, slide the bump stop on then bolt it back together. The bump stop should sit in the shock mount, remember to keep the dust cover from the old ones.

Hi mate

The bump stops are on the rod but don't sit in the mount. It's a very tight fit.

I need to take the shocks out again I think to have another try

I found them a tight fit but they should go in with a little persuasion

Just a heads up as my old vRS is currently for sale, only things missing are the Whiteline RARB, Wind Deflectors and Roof Bars.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2004-SKODA-FABIA-1-9-TDI-DP-VRS-immaculate-car-FULL-HISTORY-grey-alloys-/221190157777?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item337ff5f5d1

Appologies if I'm not allowed to post it here, mods feel free to move or delete if necessary.

Any questions about the car give me a shout, should note I'm not the actual seller, it was traded in against my new car.

Thanks,

Mike

That's a shame mate. I loved what you've done to it. I think I saw you last summer after a day out to moray firth. What new car have you got?

Thanks man, it just got to the point where it was buy a new car or go for stage 2, hopefully somebody buys it and takes it to that level.

I bought a BMW E92 335i, 306bhp and 295lbs.ft from stock just made it a no brainer really.
