Why is the numberplate on the bottom bumper?

It's not on all the above photos, the ones with the numberplate on the bumper are the SEAT rear end I think.

Production starts in about 6 weeks so we should have some official photos soon!

I think you need to wait for the real thing. I can't imagine any cars look good when they are still heavily disguised in pre-launch testing. But then I have got used to Briskoda being the home of negativity....

I'm starting to think it's just me who quite likes the look of this :giggle: I don't want something outrageous looking, good understated styling - what interests me most is what the interior trim is going to be like, as that's what I'd be spending the majority of time looking at!

The Rapid is a smaller car than the Octavia (called Laura in India) and has been launched here. Skoda Rapid India site is here - http://www.skoda-auto.co.in/ind/model/rapid/look/Pages/look.aspx . Also a detailed review can be found here - http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/official-new-car-reviews/111033-skoda-rapid-test-drive-review.html

It is based on its sibling the VW Vento which is in fact a booted version of the Polo.

thanks for the info dkaile.

the indian rapid only comes with tiny 14 inch or 15" wheels on a car not much smaller than the octavia. http://www.skoda-aut...pid_Leaflet.pdf

and only comes in the 1.6 petrol or diesel and 5 colours to choose from. i hope the uk version will have more choice

edit: no vrs model though (yet)

It's a completely different car despite the same name, the European Rapid should have the following engines:

1.2 HTP 75BHP

1.2 TSI 85BHP

1.2 TSI 105BHP

1.4TSI 125BHP

1.6 TDI 90BHP

1.6 TDI 105BHP

so the eu version is based on a different car?

i'm guessing it's based on ibiza/polo platform or cut down octavia/golf platform rather than a completely new design?

Alledgedly it's like the Roomster, Fabia/Polo at the front, Octavia/Golf at the rear.

Believe my wife would like an Up/Citygo when she eventually decides to change her Fabia TSI; she prefers small cars. However I would like her to consider one of these, if as suggested it's no bigger than the Octy I and the majority of the Mission L styling has been retained. Plus I have fond and nostalgic memories of the name Rapid (our first Skoda being a 136).
