Damo's Superb : Project Ginormica (aka Susan)

Damo

Recommended Posts

Had another look, and the arch gap does look just as high as in the pics...

Not too bad but definitely high

Hmmmmm.... Coilovers or air? :D

Only kidding, just have to cope with it

Pity Nick P's air kit has sold

She doesn't miss a trick mate.

Just got back from DM Keith where I got car from.

Had the 2 new rear tyres put on they had said they'd replace as part of the deal.

We agreed they would be done for collection, but were forgot about, so had to go today.

Knew they wouldn't be Uniroyal Rainsport's same as the fronts, but Tomahawk? seriously?

Wish I had said to put premium rubber on and I will pay the difference... hindsights a wonderful thing :(

More akin to bikes aren't they?

Sorry, they are Mohawk not Tomahawk

M105 225/40/18's

Budget brand owned by Hancook

Not got very good reviews from what I can see, and they don't last more than 10k

About £60 a corner.

Should have given them another £40 and got them to fit Vred Sessantas :(

Just gave Susan her first wash since picking her up last week.

Bit of a difference to washing the Citigo thats for sure :D

Not as bad as I thought though, thank god.

Gave the tyres a dressing of Megs Endurance as well.

The car seems to have had plenty of wax in the past, and the paint feels nice and smooth, but you can see plenty of swirls from the previous owners washing technique.

Really need a machine polish to get rid of them.

Anyway, this was the result of my efforts

Replaced a few of the interior bulbs with led's as well, but need to order some more to finish off.

One week in now already, and Im loving it!  best car Ive ever had by far :)

Thanks for reading

Thats some nice pipework!!! I've got Autoglym metal polish is it the same? I didn't realise you could treat the inside. :) Looks great Damo.

It's still a mission to polish though compared to a Fabia/ Citigo.

Not polished it yet mate, need to get it machined as its the only way to get those swirls to disappear!

I buy Autosol, 10 tubes at a time as it is cheaper as I do tend to get through them with all my chrome on my motor bike. It does wear through the chrome over time but it does take years. I have had my bike for 12 years hence why I know.

Are those Tailpipes a standard fit on your motor, or have you acquired them from somewhere..?

AFAIK they are standard

Ive certainly not changed them anyway

Front & Rear Badges

Sorry If I appear thick on this Damo, but are you saying that these badges will just peel off, once they've had a bit of heat etc?

Yes mate

Just warm them with the hairdryer, then just use something to peel them, preferably that is plastic (so as not to mark your paint)

Some people also use dental floss or cotton to saw down behind the badge.

When they are off, it might leave a bit of sticky residue so will need finger scraping the thick off and then a bit of cleaning fluid for the remnants.

Really easy I promise
