Any good vw mechanics in N.I for future use.

Recommended Posts

Just want to try find a good VW mechanic who knows their way around a tsi engine for future work. ie getting chain tensioner updated on vrs Octavia.

Local to Belfast would be good but im open to a sensible distances if the standard of work is good.

Dubtech in Ballymoney I have been told is good, but no personal first hand experience. They appear to be a REVO dealer too.

WalshMotors in Andytown might be handier, heard of them on RMS (prob a good place to search for more local knowledge)

Biggest problem in NI with finding a good indy is that they have not discovered the internet yet for the most part.

When I had a problem with our octy last Christmas when visiting the inlaws I was recommended to D R automotive in quarry heights newtownards. Seemed a good bunch of guys and knew their way around the 2.0 bmm TDI...

Walsh motors are good. They look after my fabia vrs but I've only been to have it serviced and book stamped. They do seem busy with r32's etc too

3rd for Walsh motors. They are very busy mind. Easy to pay, and decent lads.

Cobra customs in Antrim are very good also. New lot, but good eggs, they no there stuff and don't rip you off. They are doing plasti dip, alloy refurb, servicing etc etc.

As FUBAR has mentioned DUBTEC are a good mechanics, and are recommended by my next suggestion, but being in Ballymoney they are a little out of the way.

He was previously a VW mech and has completed alot of tensioner work.

I have a mechanic in Mallusk that is good too and also part of  Revo, they're actually they NI Distributor for them.

I have another post in this section for Them:  https://www.facebook.com/RevoNI.co.uk?fref=ts

Ask for Steven and mechanical Services.

Alternatively Harry Eastwood out by Hillsborough is an excelent mechanic, he's a master mech for SERE in Lisburn as far as i'm aware.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I have came across Walsh motors in a few posts seem to be good guys. Only

Thing is that puts me off a bit. Is that not where you see all the joyriders on the news. ? Silly reason to maybe not use a

Garage tho but would be on my mind leaving it there.

Sounds good does the revo guy do maintenance work as well as tuning. And also does Harry Eastwood work on his own as well as for sere?

Cheers. Got the car yesterday. Drove from London to stranrear with no problems. Have noticed handbrake is bit stiff and slight dash rattle. But seen fixes for both on here. Well pleased so far.

The dash rattle does my head in! Is it on glove box side? I have not got round to sorting it yet. Give me a heads up if you sort it? :)

Dash rattles can sound like they are coming from a precise location when they are in fact somewhere totally different! In my case from brand new out of the box I traced mine when Skoda failed and it was the air duct that feeds door window demisters with both doors open behind the panel on side of dash, I wedged a bit of paper in and it stopped it so got dealers to remove them and fit lagging. Seem to be 101 different dash rattle sources on here the fun is finding which yours is :D

Enjoy the new motor HTD

so far so good. will take a few weeks to get used to the car and find any niggles that annoy me. pulls like a train. cant wait till warranty is near up and I can get her mapped with possibly exhaust and induction kit. maybe a dump valve as I love the sound of a petrol turbo blowing off. lol

lol mine was mapped at 6 weeks old and 1500 miles on the clock in Auto-Tune. I had 5 year extended unlimited mileage warranty on it too.

Auto-tune in ballymena. There only people I would send my car to get work done. They recently changed auxiliary belt on my 3.0 tdi a4

Is that anything to do with AI autosport? Where abouts in Ballymena is it.

Nothing to do with AI that I know of. Auto-Tune or OBD AutoTune as they used to be called are in Pennybridge Industrial estate behind the big cafe, they moved a while ago from their old unit to one directly behind which is bigger. Ryan and Steve are good guys and was where I had both my vRS's remapped. Not the sort of place to turn their backs on you after they have been paid either.

Surprised nobody mentioned James Logan at Green Island (Skoda specialist). I use them rather than getting ripped off in Belfast. I have found them strangely reluctant to find a fault, but when they do, it is sorted at a reasonable price and their heart seems to be in the right place (James himself seems a nice bloke). The only criticism is that they have missed some important faults that cost me dear once I was out of range of their efforts. But when they have replaced a part, they did it properly, so I do go back and would recommend them, with the previso that you should tell them what is wrong and which bit you want replaced, otherwise you might get the car back with some 'workaround' that quickly turns into false economy (that has happened to me three times).
