I collected my new Octavia Estate vRS CR from Rainsworth today. This was an internet/telephone purchase from a distance. Rainsworth matched the Drive the Deal price and gave a reasonable px figure (which given the 10 week delivery time on the vRS has turned into a good px figure), beating every other dealer (6) I contacted. l dealt mainly with Kev, who was professional and helpful all the way through, with no pressure to buy either the car or any add-ons. Handover wasn't the longest I have ever had (no frills) but if I wanted more I could have asked.

Showroom itself is modern, good coffee and good parking. I would recommend for a purchase, definitely worth a call/e-mail and a journey.

Totally agree, I dealt with Kev when I bought my vRS in December 08 and he was very professional and helpful, with a great attitude and no pressure at all. Definitely refreshing.

Further update. Posted 30 April 2010 - 17:59

Not a happy bunny they sent my log book to the wrong person now I have to wait for him to return to this dealer then for them to send to me nearly a month and no log book grrrrrrrrrr!!!!!

Further update. Posted 4 May 2010 - 07:27

The vehicle I purchased off them was actually Johns own company car I havent spoke to him yet but will be if my log book does not arrive by this week.I was told the other day they had sent my log book to another customer with the same surname as me which seemed a bit strange for two people with Thatcher as their surname but will see what happens this week.

Ordered a Scout last Saturday. Initial contact through Richard Hollis via email very good. Talked to Steve Cantrell on the day who was great to deal with. He even managed to keep our 4 year old under control !

Very happy with the deal and probably the easiest and most stress free car purchase I've ever had.

Sales then 10/10 so far. I'll post as things develop.

I purchased my Fabia vRS from Rainsworth, going back on Saturday to collect it. The sales team were fine and did not hassle me at all, in fact I commented to my wife how laid back they were.

Asked them to change the cambelt as part of the deal, part of me has been worrying that they might not do it. After reading this thread about the workshop standards has made me a little more concerned lol.

Unfortunately "John" is still there and still very rude. I bought an Octy Scout in Jan and the actual purchase was fine. I thought they were a bit too laid back (not pushy at all) but that could just be my opinion.

Problem is, I noticed it pulling slightly on the way home after picking it up. I have a busy job so it took me a few days to call them to report it, but then John just said "It's more than 24 hours, you've obviously crashed it in the snow so it's not our problem." I can sort of see his point, but he was very rude in putting it across. Was I unreasonable in expecting them to give me the benefit of the doubt having just given them £15k for the car? They didn't want to know at all.

I intend to keep this car for a while, so John has cost his employer a lot of servicing work...

picked up my new octavia 1.9tdi 4x4 yesterday. I enjoyed the whole process of buying from rainworth, I dealt with Steve, who made the whole experiance simple and trouble free. I was originally quoted 12-16 weeks lead time, it took 13 so bang on time. I would deffinately consider buying from them again, ( although not for a few years hopefully! )

Update on our Scout purchase. Collected the car today. Overall delighted with Rainworth. 10/10. Steve is a top bloke and fantastic to deal with. Ask for him when you arrive and you will not go far wrong.

The other staff are also very welcoming and friendly.

What more can I say ? Excellent

After buying my 04 Fabia from them in May I have had an issue with the car that I needed to speak to the Sales Manager about. Called them around midday yesterday and they said he would call me back asap. 1.5hrs later I chased them, again I was promised a call back. 1.5hrs later I'd still heard nowt and was getting a bit pee'd, this time I got through to him and he didnt know anything about it so obviously no messages had been left. He said he would call me back and he did, but unfortunately I had left for work, was promised a call back this morning.

12:00 today had heard nothing so rang them, dicussed the car with him and he said he would call me back to see if I can pop in there on Tues. It's now nearly 2.5hrs later and still waiting.

Now i appreciate these people are busy, but when I have a problem with a car I bought from them, I would expect them to really go out of their way to sort it asap. Keeping me hanging about just winds me up and doesnt fill me with confidence. I just hope they come good and resolve the issues with the car.

I said to my wife it would be interesting to see how long I had to wait for a call if I rang asking for a quote on a top spec Superb with all the trimmings?!

Quick update on my car...Spoke to the sales manager as I have a rear wheel issue, the local gargae thinks my axle may be bent due to the feathering effect on the tyre. There has been previous accident damage in this area so it possible. The sales manager was quick to point out that I may have gone over a pothole and caused the damage (which I have not), but they wanted me to take the car down yesterday (170miles).

When I got there I also pointed out that the rear valance had some clips missing which causes it to drop, the upper part of the bumper is not correctly alligned, and one of the screws holding the numberplate has sheared off and has been oversprayed with silver paint to try and disguise it. I was expecting them to try and fob me off as it's going to seriously eat into their profit from the sale of the car. I asked how long it would take for them to check the car over as I was eager to get back home seeing as it takes 3hrs.

After sitting down for a coffee, a guy called David who is the servicing manager came over to talk to me, he offered me a salesman's car to travel home in, reassuring me that they will make sure my car is 100% and will either drive it back to me or arrange for it to be transported to my house!!

At the time I was totally gobsmacked, I really could not ask for more and did not expect that at all. I told him that it gave me total confidence that they were going to get things sorted.

Top marks to Rainworth, I cannot fault them, hopefully the car will be spot on.

A very interesting topic to follow guys. My dad ordered his Yeti with Steve and we were so impressed with him and Dean that I decided to order my Fabia from them a few weeks later (not planned - mainly to make the most of the VAT deal).

Neither Steve nor Dean were in so I dealt with another salesman and for the life of me I can't remember his name!! He was of a similar age to Steve I would think with his desk towards the back of the showroom - any ideas??

After ordering I found out about their servicing plan/package and went back to ask them about it - after they carefully explained it, I decided not to bother. Flippin' heck!!! Not what I expected!

So, like most people have found them very friendly and helpful and NOT pushy regarding sales, but I will be keeping a close eye on them (and this forum) when it comes to first service time.

Now I'm just waiting to get my new baby. Ho hum!

Got my car delivered back to me today, really pleased with it. Cant fault Rainworth at all. So glad to get rid of the 08 plate Fabia with the small diesel engine and the boat like suspension. Had a quick blast in mine for a test drive, it put an instant smile on my face :D

My experience with Rainworth has been abit disappointing..... Brought a 04 vRS from them for £5500 (overbook i know but its immaculate and only done 60k). I asked it to be serviced before buying which they did without question (but read down...).

First couple of days of owning, the brakes started squealing, and 2 trips to them later (waiting a least 4 hours each time) they finnaly agreed to replace the front discs and pads which Im happy as larry about and have no issue with them yet.

Before buying the car, I found that one of the tyres had a puncture which they used a puncture repair kit on again without question, and after a week or two of owning, the puncture repair started leaking (was told it wasnt fitted properly). By now I was abit fed up of driving backwards and forwads up and down the county plus taking the time off work, so decided to have all round tyres done since there was not much tread left on the others.

Next thing I read (on this lovely forum emoticon-0140-rofl.gif) is that the cambelt needs replacing at 60k or 4 years. Looked through the service book and seen its still running on the original old 6 year & 60k belt!!!. Was abit disappointed that they didn't do this during its service or even tell me but decided to have it done with the waterpump at an independent skoda specialist (***********************************).

When picking up the car from them (ie the independent Skoda specialist), ******** mentioned that the sump bung is leaking oil, so they tried to fix it but it wont budge, meaning the numpty who did the oil change during its service cross theaded the bung!!! How something SO SIMPLE AS AN OIL CHANGE be messed up this bad.

Im a level headed guy and hate to be a moaner, though this takes the biscuit so im going to go back with my angry face on. So glad i didnt ask them to change the cambelt or god knows what could happen emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

Note: this all happened in the space of about a month. Still waiting on reg doc to come through as well... emoticon-0108-speechless.gif

Update: Took it back to them, and they agreed to put a new sump on. Hopefully sound for now

Picked up my Superb today. Had dealt with Kev since ordering but as he was off, dealt with Steve today. Both have been excellent and I wouldn't hesitate recommending this dealer.

All the staff I met today were friendly and courteous and to top it all, I got a great deal too.

I am having an on going towbar issue with a system supplied and fitted by Rainworth. Full details are here Towbar thread

Basically they supplied a towbar and wired it in using skotchlok connectors instead of the proper loom. While this works for the lights it does do the more fancy things such as disable the reversing sensors, bulb check the trailer or change the vehicle stability control. It is also against Skoda policy to wire this way.

It gets complicated because I bought the car privately 2nd hand. The first owner did not know the way the electrics should have worked so never complained.

They are now saying that the towbar is out of warranty, they have wired it correctly and as far as they are concerned they have no case to answer.

The problem has been raised with Skoda UK who are investigating.

Took my car in for an inspection service at Rainworth Mansfield a few months ago. Wasn't exactly sure what work the car needed doing on its service having not owned it long, but the Service Manager was much more helpful and knowledgeable than the two other main dealers I spoke to.

All the staff were polite, showroom modern and clean, everything was well explained to me and from what I can tell, the workmanship was fine. The coffee is free and decent too! Negotiated a small discount for the service (they matched Chesterfield Gordon Lamb's price for me, Lamb's is closer to me but my mate works in one of their other franchises and I've heard so many horror stories I don't trust them!).

However, despite all the above praise, they did let me down with the loan car. I had booked one and they had my phone number, but didn't call; when I dropped the car off in the morning I was advised that one of the loan cars hadn't been returned last night and there was no car available for me. This was annoying considering I'd had to drive quite some distance to get to Rainworth and if I'm paying main stealer prices, I expect a loan car!

They offered to rebook the service or give me a lift (not feasible because of distance I suspect), but I asked them if they could get it done ASAP and I'd work off my laptop in their waiting area (electricity, free tea/coffee/hot-choc and wifi). They did get it in the garage pretty much straight away and they kept to the promised duration (think it was around 90 minutes, maybe a bit more). With hindsight I should of asked them to lend me a demo car.

Would of been 5 stars was it not for the loan car let down, but I think it has to be 3.5 because of that. However, I think I will be using them again.

Have to say used them today for 1st service and extremely happy, service dept (two Davids) couldnt do enough to help, service completed in time i needed, loan car supplied clean and with fuel, all work done and extremely happy with the service.

Come to Skoda brand from BMW, used Sytner BMW Nottingham before but have no hesitation in using Rainworth for all future work, having used both Rainworth and Clock Garage (spondon) in first week of Skoda ownership.

They have won my future business.

Excellent service from these guys. See this thread: http://www.briskoda....-break-into-it/

Managed to lock both sets of keys in my 3 week old Yeti. Skoda "assistance" were unable to gain access to the car and I was left with no choice but to instruct them to beak into the car (smashed rear drivers side window).

I was then left with a car with a broken rear window and nowhere secure to store it at 6pm on a Sunday evening. I spoke to one of the sales staff and he kindly agreed to open up the workshop, several hours after they had closed, in order to store my car securely - thanks Kev. The glass was ordered the following day and fitted shortly thereafter.

A slight discrepancy with the bill was dealt with promptly on collection of my car.

I've had several cars from here now (2 Octavia's, 2 Roomster's and 2 Yeti's) and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone.
