why did you pay over five hundred quid before contacting the garage you purchased the car????

This industry is sufering enough with bull poo garages ripping folk off but when I come accross a [removed] it just goes to show that there are unscrupulous individuals like you that makes the motor trade more complex than it needs to be..

Do us all a favour and take up a hobby like fishing or croquet.......

Okay; thread re-opened with little bit of pruning carried out and a reminder to stay on the topic of the obviously alleged 'not fit for purpose' car which had dangerous worn brake discs and pads.

Also, a reminder that personal abuse of any form will never be tolerated on Briskoda.

The ‘fun’ I suppose is that you do not ‘self ban’ yourself from Briskoda and therefore you continue to enjoy the forums??

Used Car - Skoda Yeti 2012 CR170 tdi 4x4 purchased from Derek Slack - Feb 2017 , waited till car was inspected valeted etc before pick up and no issue with the sales process everything fine. Couple of days in noticed it wasnt holding the road as well as my last Yeti so took it to my local tyre people who informed me that there was around 2-3mm of tread left , so reluctantly i bought 4 tyres for £240 but rather be safe... Fastforward a week and coming home on the A19 i had occasion to brake hard when someone pulled out on me and found there to be very little in the way of stopping power at speed - narrowly avoided an accident, took the car back to my tyre guy who is also a brake specialist who took a look at the discs and said they were laughable and one of the worst conditions of brakes he had ever seen on a car...

these are the discs which i still have as evidence

Derek Slack Motors idea of inspected used cars

So i had them changed their and then at another £260, and once done i kept the discs and pads and returned to Derek Slack , the service mgr their took a look and want particularly interested and in fact claimed they may have passed an MOT so that was ok. I explained they had sold me an unworthy car and I was giving them the chance to put this right , to which their reply was they were not going to pay for work done by another garage. The work would never have needed to be done had the car been inspected properly which it was not. The car left their premises in an un-roadworthy state and frankly i am appalled at their lack of service and downright denial of any wrong doing since.

So Derek Slack thank you for keeping me waiting a week whilst you washed ( not very well ) and valeted ( not very well ) my car , didnt properly inspect it , and let me put myself and my family in danger, obviously i wont be recommending or using you again and its now gone way past the point of just wanting compensation and now requires a full written apology from the director and the service manager.

BTW cannot knock the car now its had some basic maintenance done to it , excellent motor and love the Skoda Yeti

The pitting and corrosion is the reverse side of the disc so NOT easyly seen, plus the majority of modern vehicles have fairly large and wide wheels/tyres fitted so it makes it difficult to hear any brake noise out on the road, even worse if the radio is on are the family are in the chatting and talking. I've seen worst condition discs then that in my 24 years on the shopfloor in the motortrade and the have been silent when the brake's were applied.

Bit confused here because I've been going to Slack's for years and I have never ever had any issues. I do like the way now when you get a service you get a video walk around.

As for your repairs - I have to agree with the others. I've had an experience before where a certain chain of autocare centres failed to identify a fault, yet took it Slacks and they identified it straight away.

As for your car wash and valet - not sure what you are expecting but there are some fab hand car wash places in the area.

What do the front of the discs look like. It's unusual for them to wear so badly on one side only.

Derek Slack Motors hmmmm. I contacted them via their online 'contact us' tool, no response.  I phoned several times, sales people were always 'in a sales meeting'; I never got the promised call back(s).  I popped into the dealership; admittedly it was a Saturday but the dealership had no other customers.  I was ignored buy a couple of sales people who were just walking around the showroom and forecourt.

I took my business elsewhere.  The biggest 'issue' is that they are my local dealer for servicing and warranty work though I could just make day of it and go elsewhere.  When a dealership can't even be bothered to deprive you of some cash it doesn't bode well for how they'll perform once they have been paid.

Oh but they have the cheek to add my details to their mailing list, so that I can be spammed about their promotions.  Nice work.

I agree with penguin.

Went in to PX my vehicle and their value was poor. (bought elsewhere)  Had problems so booked in, they forgot about me in reception until I asked if they remembered that I was waiting. Charged me for consumables without prior consent (not in for a service) and still not fixed problems! Now the vehicle has original problems and some new things going wrong, told it will take a while for parts. No follow up call (weeks later), except for the marketing emails.

As penguin said this is the dealer near me, unfortunately.

I bought my Citigo here a few years ago.  Sales process was fine, had to chase them up for a few bits missing from the PID (lead etc) but overall it was a good experience, it was my first car.

Car came with a service agreement, never had an issue with that either, I appreciated the little video they send you.     They did give me a pretty naff courtesy car, but that was expected.

Oh and I just picked up a Fabia from a different dealer, I am fairly sure that I got better tyres from Derek Slack, though maybe that was factory fitted?
