Henrys (South) - Glasgow

DGW

Recommended Posts

I've been taking my VRS into Henrys South following the reviews on here since they seem to have the reputation. They haven't been able to fix one of my rattles yet, but they are a friendly bunch!

Imagine my shock this morning to be told by them that they're closing!!! :thumbdwn:

Everything's being transferred to the North branch. On commenting that the South branch is the one with the good reputation, they said they'd been told that by a few people... (So why shut it? Fair enough it's in a far from ideal location, but if the customers are still willing to go there...)

Apparently the technicans from the South branch are moving into the North one. Whether the social process turns out to be one of assimulation or acculturation will all come out in the wash, I guess.

Anyway, so that's that. Henrys South no long taking service bookings. Shut from 11 July.

Yes, got a letter in this morning's post. Apparently the on-street parking in the south has caused problems as well as lack of space in general. Will miss them!

Hmm. Well, although some of the south staff are now firmly in place in the north branch (and they still recognse the car), it seems the positive attitude's been lost in the move.

Somehow I don't believe that a service bulletin has been issued saying that the need to kick the accelerator pedal to get the car to idle correctly is an acceptable "feature" of the car, like they are now trying to convince me...

Henry's have reopened a Skoda service centre (parts and service only) on the Soothside - it's on the site of their Honda dealership on Titwood Road (handy for Crossmyloof Station). I might give it a try as the car is due a service in a month's time - a lot handier for me instead of fighting my way through Glasgow Cross and up High Street to their Skoda dealership in Townhead.

Brian you always seemed to get on OK at Henrys, what was wrong with them at this location?

George, was going to send you a PM, but I see your messenger is still disabled.

AVOID - not that anyone comes on here anyway... :D

Some of us poor so and so's do still come on here, we're looking to change from Parks as weren't happy with a couple of things the gopher said, Titwood might have been a stretch for us but it looks like we're better to give it a miss? Oh well, looks like a trip to Border Skoda down at Heathhall, Dumfries. (If they're ok)

More people come into this sub-forum than I thought :D !

Henry's in Townhead were pretty good to be fair - my mistake was deciding to give their southside branch a try...

Just had the dealership undertake the haldex oil change today.

They checked and cleaned the filter. There was a fair amount of "gunk" apparent on the video when they showed me the work. 2.5 year old car with 20k on it.

They charged £99 for the work and Morris was friendly and eager to please.

He couldn't understand why Parks wouldn't inspect and clean the filter when I asked them to price the job and neither could i!

It's funny how their North'ern' counterparts have continually denied there is a filter whenever I've asked them to either clean or replace it.

Who knew the North/South Divide could be as little as 4.4 miles.

PS  Until reading this post I never realised Henry's South had a Skoda Service Centre, to me it was always a Honda Dealership.  They now have a Suzuki franchise just a little further along, which they weirdly seemed to have acquired when AC bought up the Phoenix Group....

Interestingly, they even have a laminated A4 sheet with a picture of a dirty unit and some text about why it's important to check and clean it.

The service manager came over to point it out when I was sitting in the waiting area.

The service reception is right at the back of the Honda dealership, incidentally.

I've used Henry's for servicieng a couple of times but that was many moons ago. Since then they've addressed a wierd issue post accident repair which after liasing with Skoda, resolved the matter and the car was returned 24hr later.  When looking for my current car I felt their sales were as honest as sales can be ( although we couldn't agree on a price ) but then sold my previous car to them without issue at the agreed price.

Used them recently for a service. I'd mark them 10/10. The car was returned to me on time, I was given loads of info about the service itself. I was given the usual recommendations but in no way were they pushing extra work. The recommendations weren't just a price for the job, the sheet included part nos etc which has actually become very useful - saves a lot of research and asking people who don't really know what they're talking about.  Also included in the handover pack was a printed electronic service history sheet so if I were to sell the car, everything is there in black and white so no different from keeping a log book in the glovebox.

It's everything I'd want from a service.

And by the way, taking out a service plan when it was on offer means the service was as cheap if not cheaper than any indi specialist quoted.
