An update...

The car went back to the bodyshop to have the bumper painted and FINALLY the colour coded grill was done and fitted with a nice new badge

Reason it was painted - This awful laquer peel from some shoddy painting at some point in its life. One corner of the car was affected as the painter had already flatted back and relacquered a wing.

A quick sneak pic of the finished article - Love the look of the front end. It's very dirty - Need to clean it now :)

It will be having some tyres next as the fronts are getting pretty low. Will go for Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3s

The colour coded grille looks amazing, should have left the factory looking like that though!

Nothing too major in the way of updates. It's such a nice car, super reliable, great load lugger/family car and best of all, I really love driving it. It's approaching service time and I think I will take it to Skoda again - Sparshatts of Botley have been very good so far. They are no more expensive than the specialist in the local area.

A quick note regarding replacement tyres. I DID get a pair fitted as per my previous post, but plumped for the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 rather than the new 3. I read a new horror stories/reviews about the handling of the 3's and the guy at the tyre place warned me also (Kind of him as I believe the 3 was more expensive). I'm a big Goodyear fan and I will continue to use the Eagle F1, but will wait to see a few more reviews I think before switching!

I'm now happily married and with the wedding out the way hope to crack on and look at a remap very soon!

Time for another update on how the Octavia is doing. I've owned it for over a year now (as of early November) and covered about 14k so far. I must say it's completely cemented itself as my favourite car that I have owned - I've been really pleased with it.

It went off to have a variable service, fuel filter and a brake fluid change back in September ( I changed the air and cabin filter myself as it was a five minute job). I tried my preferred dealership (Sparshatts of Botley) but they were coming in far too expensive unfortunately, so it ended up at Winchester Skoda. The service itself was carried out perfectly however I noticed an issue once I had been given the car back that the valeters had jet blasted some lacquer from the back bumper!!

I was really annoyed that the car had been washed anyway as it was given to them clean. There were water marks on the leather seats presumably from where they had blasted the door shuts, the alloys had been cleaned badly, the red calipers had been turned a milky pink colour by some sort of chemical.

Winchester Skoda were excellent in the way they handled it to be fair. Arranging for the car to come in to be painted free of charge. Moral of the story - tell the dealer if you don't want your car washed!

I painted these in a fresh coat of silver paint to keep it looking smart - Done whilst I was taking the wheels off to clean up the calipers again!

A picture from the other day after a wash!

Finally - EXCITING NEWS is that I am booked into Shark Performance for a stage 1 remap just before Christmas!

Thinking of a remap later on this year, how has the car changed if you don't mind me asking

They couldn't do it at Christmas as they broke their machine apparently. I'm booked in for a couple of Saturdays time. Will be sure to report back!

A little update after my trip to Shark a few weeks ago. Long road trip up there and back from Southampton to Mansfield. It was a seriously cold morning!

eThen a loooong wait as my car needed "ECU surgery". All mapped and off I went back home. Decent results and overall yes it is worth doing. It is deffo faster and even more eager to wheelspin now (It was troublesome enough before in the wet!) - Being totally honest it didn't change as much as I imagined it would. Maybe a bit of "forum hype" and the fact that it needs a week or so to learn its new parameters. Chatted to the guy with the A45 AMG on the rollers - How/why you need to make one of those faster I will never know!

Done a lot of mileage since and I'm pretty pleased with it now. Want some dry and warmer weather now!

A couple of grumbles with the car since the map - It used to have a launch control thing, which is gone now? Also the reverse sensors don't dip the volume on the radio when I am reversing (The option is gone on my Bolero too!). Does anyone know if this is due to the map deleting some settings or if it can be enabled again somehow?

Gave it a clean up - Took me bloody ages to get all the salt and grime off and took a quick pic of it looking spangly. It looked like this for about 10 minutes...

For those worried about horror stories of colour coding grills mine is fine with only 2 small chips in looooooads of miles! No worse than the bonnet or bumper would suffer.

Updated Wishlist:

Suspension - B12 or B4 Sport with Eibach springs. (ARB will also be on the list if I do this)

Tracking - Needs doing I think, holding off until I decide whether to upgrade suspension or not before doing anything.

Audi S Line gear knob

Rear Door sill protectors from super skoda

Boot Nets

My Bolero forgot that I had Bluetooth installed straight after the Emission Fix ( a remap of sorts) and went back to muting the radio when pressing Phone instead of bringing up the speed dial screen.

Powered the Bolero off then turned the ignition off and back on, then turned the Bolero back on and it was back to seeing the bluetooth module.

Not sure if your issue is the same Phil but worth a try.
