LED bulb replacements

Hi Guys,

As some have mentioned, the exterior mirror/puddle lights are pretty poor.

Has anyone actually replaced them? If so how easy to change without breaking the mirror glass?

Ive seen lots of different sized LED 501's, which LED's are actually white, not blue/purple, but also fit the housing?

Also, are the puddle lights monitored by the cars bulb blown system? What bulbs has anyone used?

Thanks,

Dan

superskoda do a kit that replaces the housing too.

Johnnytype2 - Have you replaced the puddle light bulbs? Got a link for the kit? Cheers

I havent as ive got too much stuff already and the missus is getting suspicious of all these packages arriving, at least its christmas and i can pretend they are for her!

supoerskodas YT channel, the kit is from their website and it replaces the inferior lens as well. aolt of work involved just to change one bulb though

I was following this thread but to be honest its getting a bit confusing. I have a 14 vRS and im not sure what i need to replace? Are my current hi beam and dip Xenons? I want to go full LED inside and out, im trying to put a list together but im struggling. I was looking for quality for the mains and dips and alibaba express for the rest i guess. Im happy with the DRLs and what can be replaced on the rear? I havent done any VCDS mods yet but want to turn on two reverse lights and fogs if possible.

wasn't there a site selling a full kit for vRS? not ledperf another one on here i've searched but cant find it anymore....

Both of these arrived this weekend so have fitted them and very pleased - installation was no problem and much brighter as well as being better looking :-)

Got these as a free gift, are they suitable for anywhere on the car?

do not think so as it is a different base, I am looking into a change at the moment but have not fully selected the bulb yet, will report back when I have done them, reverse ones done and look good.

Ok I will share my xp.

(if you get 3 products from MKCauto-the 3 products above for example- you get 20% off of the whole order. Also no need to code for these bulbs above. Also the light output is really crisp and nice)

For front sidelights-W5W: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/T10-501-W5W-CanBus-NUMBER-PLATE-WHITE-LED-15-WATT-REFLECTOR-CREE-bulbs-NISSAN-2/310978969461
(no need to code, they match perfectly)

For Reverse lights use these: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/2x-1156-BA15S-30W-CREE-LED-With-Lens-360-Degree-Shine-Driving-Lamp-Bulb-Auto-Car/32395328134.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.27424c4dnG33Bi
(no need to code, and they produce pure nice white light, maybe about 5k)

Front Fogs: you need H11 fitting for vRS, 4 of them. I got mine from Argocity on Ebay, but the recent batch is not good because if has yellow tint so I dont recomment them anymore for H11 fogs, however the price is good as you can get 4 bulbs for 20£....but like I said now as of 6.3.19 they have yellow tint and I dont like that. I actually got 3 white and 1 yellow-ish bulb from them and now I need to source 1 more the same white bulb to match the rest 3. They said they dont have the "old" - pure white - batch anymore....OMG.

I also tried these but they had some yellow tint in them too(around the edges of the light) so not good to me: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2PC-H8-H11-Cree-LED-6000K-100W-20SMD-Super-Bright-Fog-Headlight-White-Light-Bulb/333104775719

Licence plate lights OEM: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/OEM-Skoda-LED-License-Plate-Light-SET-X2-pcs/263799052682
(needs coding - however I have spare(used) resistors for sale if needed)

Used these recently perfect white light for fog lights & they match headlights perfectly. (Pic attached) Need coding but the coding can be found on the Octavia tweaks tried & tested page.

Hi all.  I keep coming back to this as I like the idea of having better lights that put less load on the system blah blah blah.  However, having read all over that replacing oem fit filament bulbs with led replacements is only allowed for offroad applications.  How have these been when it comes to MOT or being stopped?  Also do the led fogs fade in and out like the halogens or are they on/off?

I think MOT just tests if the light works not the actual bulb types. They also dont check fogs at all.

Not sure 100% about the second question but I read in another post the fade option is not available for LED fogs, but again this may depend on the type and the actual bulb and its cut off voltage.

eDIT://

Regarding the bulb colour from argocity, see that - 2 different batches of the same bulb. I just need 1 more white bulb :D

Well if you compare these with mine they look similar to right one(yellowish) on my picture above.

Are these pure white or do they have some yellow tint in them ?
