Lofty's Black Magic Fabia vRS MK1 - "Project Naomi"

Why oh why do we do it? Not content with one Fabia vRS project on the go I have acquired a rather different one to occupy some spare time.

Introducing the Black Magic one now sat on my drive.

Purchased off the second owner (son of the first owner) it's a Jabbasport modified Stage 3 vRS, with lots of funky parts on it. Nearly all of which will be going in due course as there are different plans afoot for her now.

It's back on the original 55 plate now, so what exactly have we got?

2005 55 Fabia with BLT engine, Has Factory Xenons, Cruise Control, ESP and side airbags as factory options, as well as the metallic paint obv.

Current modifications are extensive and the receipts from Jabba are eye watering.

Highlights are in the main...

Stage 3 Jabba conversion package

Water Cooled GT25 vnt Turbo

Pro-Alloy custom large front mount intercooler & hard pipe kit

Miltek decat pipe

Blue Flame Exhaust

Eibach Suspension

Jabba RARB

Brembo GT Junior 4 Pot brakes with Tarox F2000 discs and DS2500 Pads

Devils own Methanol injection

Some massive custom stereo install (bit wasted on me as I like Radio 2.....)

Tinted Windows with Armour fend film

Team Dynamics Pro-Race 3's with 215 tyres

Peloquin LSD and Sachs heavy duty clutch kit with SMF (surprisingly quiet!!)

Power output was claimed to be enormously high.... take that with a pinch of salt, but it's still a quick little car.

So - what's the plans for Naomi?

Total change of set up, it'll be finding it's way back to standard 130 power and KKK turbo in time, plan is to end up with a usable but tidy daily for Mrs Lofty to use, so i'll be documenting the changes as we go. Some of the pics wont be pretty but it'll turn out good in the end.

Look at you lot!!! It'll be a few weeks before I really get stuck into it. Wheels are staying, so is the gearbox and meth. Brakes are heading to a mate, so the turbo, intercooler and whole jabba set up will be removed and sold as a single unit. I've hopefully got enough spare bits around me to put it back to standard. I've even priced up a genuine exhaust from TPS today...

Audio gear will be gently removed and got rid off as the oe symphony head unit I have does just a good job for me, wind deflectors and tints will come off and rear wiper reinstated

Ideally I'd like a visual facsimile of my yellow one, just with factory power..

Had limited time this week but was passing the car on the drive last night and peeled the questionable headlight tinting film off the drivers side....

One guess why the headlight output was poor??

Gonna have a few hours on it tonight peeling more layers of the modifying onion away

Yummy rear light tinting film removal..

Now I can actually see the rear lights I can work out what's what. The rear fog light tell tale light was on the dash permanently, this was because a single filament bulb had been forced into the sidelight holder on the off side, and a nasty led bulb in the near side. Also loose in the bottom of the N/s cluster is a bulb rolling about... replaced all the bulbs and everything is good. Removed the cluster to fish out the extra bulb????

So the window tints were next, made the car look dated and cheap, so they gotta go..

Cue lots of pulling and cursing, the car had two layers on, armourfend with tints over the top.

Autosmart Tardis made light work of the glue residue pretty much liquified it..

Next job is interior removal for a intense deep clean. WARNING those pictures will be unpleasant in the extreme!!

This is the stereo system that needs to come out and be sold on.

Alpine head unit - model DVA-9965R with remote control and removable face (Google the spec - was £995.00 new)

Focal Amps x 3 and Focal sub in custom boot build

False boot floor so you can still actually use the boot

Front door cards including focal speakers

A-Pillar builds with two speakers both sides

Custom build under the glovebox with two additional Focal speakers in

Monster cables all the way through from Main Battery etc

Additional rotary control in switch blank above stereo, allows you to modulate how much bass you get from the back

It will all be coming out complete, including both complete front door cards, cables, clips, crossovers etc etc.

I'll be putting the standard Skoda symphony head unit in!

The previous owner had it all pro installed and claimed the bill was just short of £4000. Judging by the rest of the invoices that ive got with the car I'm not dis-believing him.

What's it worth? I'm thinking £450 all in?

In preparation for removing the big audio build I have had to remove the interior. Aaah the interior... a wholesome place where many things have been spilt, discharged and generally smeared all over the notoriously light vRS trim...

Cue the pics..

DFD70DEF-E33C-4EE2-AB25-0939C6A33EDA_zps

I reckon theres enough human slime on that seat to clone someone... Vile!

Looking a bit better..

A cheeky 50/50

And left to dry in todays warm sun (don't worry there was a couple of drying towels on the roof of the daffodil)

2323099C-ACC2-41AA-8422-EE4D40839309_zps

Needless to say, every other seat was equally as disgusting, so many hours of scrubbing and wet vac extracting later it's all done, now all residing in my living room, drying nicely..

The stereo cabling is in the process of being removed, the head unit is out, carpets are up and the seemingly miles of heavy duty cables are being gently removed, not just ripped out.

Once the carpet is back down and the side trims replaced I can do a deep clean on the rest of the interior then get it all back together with the Symphony CD player and Elegance spec slide out drawer underneath, much better..

The front of the car is suspended in mid air now, brakes are next to come off, my 312mm calipers and near new gen VW discs are ready to go on next.
