140CR diesel Yeti - Remap?

Hi folks.  I've been pondering having a bit of a tinker with our Yeti (A diesel 4x4, 140 CR) to give it a bit more oomph when driving.  Has anyone had theirs remapped, or gone even further and replaced the turbo/intercooler with the aim of getting more power out of the engine?  I'm just wondering what would be a sensible course of action, and the approximate costs involved.  Feel free to drop me a message if you don't want to discuss costs publicly.

Ta!

I have a fitted140 adventure, use a dtuk box, it has smoothed out some engine lumpiness, I accept that egr probs could arise with over fuelling but so far no probs, and not on an earlier 110 car with a race tech(?) box fitted!

Yep, car is a 2012 model, all out of Warranty (as Skoda kindly confirmed when the clutch spring plate disintegrated, and chewed through the slave cylinder, and gearbox wall causing a massive loss of gearbox oil, and requiring many £'s worth of repairs, when the car was less than 4 years old, and had done about 36000 miles!).  I've got no problem with finding a specialist insurer too, and the extra premium would be worth it if it means making the daily commute a bit more interesting :)

Go for it :)

It's a common option with many insurers these days, shouldn't make much difference to your premium.

One favoured tuner on here seems to be Shark.

They are based in Mansfield, but I think have other dealers.

Or you can buy their handheld unit, and apply the map (and revert to stock if you need to) at will, once they've emailed it to you.

That's what I have on my CR170 :)

A remap will be like driving a totally different car and will also be 'less asthmatic' for want of a better term. Have a look here if you want to know about some Yeti 'upgrades'!

As MuddyBoots says, I likewise have the Shark Performance remap on my 170 4x4 and it is excellent. It changes the character of the engine in a subtle way to be more responsive; seems to rev smoother and to a higher point before power dip; sounds a little different; and is really good fun. My insurance with standard insurer only went up £10. Petrol consumption about the same (tank to tank), although the on-board readout seems  to read a little high. This assumes you ignore the temptation to use the extra power up all the hills. No problems so far. Just puts a smile on my face every time I go for a drive. :D

I've had a Racechip plug-in box fitted since 2014 (2.0 4x4 140 diesel) - easy to remove at service time.  Performance is definitely better - the traffic lights grand prix can be quite exciting!  I do the same 80 mile journey regularly and on the dual carriageway sections have cruise set to 75.  Before installing the chip certain gradients always forced a downshift, but now it stays in top without strain.  Overall mpg has improved by just on 2mpg, measured tank-to-tank and averaged over 20,000 miles before fitting and about the same after.  Insurance cost went up by about £12 per annum (it's an economy improvement chip, of course).

The only drawback is that the mpg readout and the remaining range ( if the tank is fairly full) are considerably overstated because the fuel consumption is calculated from throttle opening rather than the fuel injected - and for normal driving I need less throttle.
