What's this about then, call for a snap general election ?

Lots of rumours including a snap election.

The British 10 Year has just dropped below one percent, the FTSE and pound dropping lots too.

If she wins that renders the post brexit negotiations Parliamentary vote pointless. Could that be considered a form of Gerrymandering ?

Kiss goodbye to your Employment T & C's, healthcare, pensions and a meaningful life, unless you're in the lucky 10%.

. . . and start learning Turkish.

Let us see if it goes back over 1.45 where it was pre-Brexit when it was not feeding inflation to 3% with many only getting a 1% or zero % pay rise is a 3% pay cut in real terms.

Just shows how loosey-goosey our constitution and electoral arrangements are.

Logically, once that letter requesting Brexit was handed-in, the local UK constitutional and electoral processes ,on something as important as this on should have been frozen until the vote had taken place on outcome of EU negotiations.

As its currently being carried out, the Tories can acquire a crushing Parliamentary majority to apply to any dissenting voices at the time of the Brexit negotiations outcome vote and this majority could based on a general election mandate which would feature every issue other than Brexit writ large in their prospectus.

If that isn't corrupting democratic process, what is ?

Teresa May #Empire v2.0 because even with the biggest change in proportional rep. apathy. turnout. BS, I foresee no change in the wind.

They should have used The Imperial March.

WTF is going on with our politics since Brexit Referendum.

Now we get another Tory PM who really secretly knows that Brexit was BS exercise by Cameron and the after dinner £ M man Osborne.

What a complete and utter political balls up, costing the Tax Payers ( mostly JAMS) UK multi millions and our world credibility.

She really wanted a yes vote and now it is all unravelling how much this was miss represented to the lay British voters and the "real " costs and damage to UK.

Perhaps the LIB Dem were right now all the unknowns of THE TRUE impact are on the table and not conveniently hidden by a few old school Tories (no to Europe-old school plus UKIP) who distorted the benefit to UK , a 2nd referendum should have been run prior the article 50 knee jerk reaction being raised by PM May.( look at me I'm a 2nd MRS.T.)

Not surprised she's doing it. The tories are practically guaranteed a landslide.

As said Corbyn is a dead man walking. But as one lefty colleague pointed out, at least there is a chance now of forming a real opposition.

Don't think Nic is too pleased, it might interfere with her plans but the SNP are good at strategy they probably have a plan already.

It'll be interesting how Scotland vote.

Apathy according to the news is greatest in the north and Scotland - the latter bored to death of going to the polls over the last few years.

So will the SNP lose seats?

The SNP did so well last time it's hard to see them matching those results again, the only way when you have reached the top, is down.

Laurie61,

Well only until the 8th/9th June and we will see what we see.

It was obvious to many she would have to call a snap General Election, just those like some here said that would not happen.

As to the SNP and Westminster MPS, they have 2 from the last lots elected still out of the party pending either the Court desicion and not Guilty or the Procurator Fiscal & maybe the courts decision.

The Ex Leader of the SNP should maybe give it a miss this time and shimmy off on some After Dinner Speaking.

No idea why they bother trying to get to Westminster just to disrupt the running of England and the UK's Brexit.

The likes of Vince Cable should just take a hint that they were punted and bog off, plenty of other life long snouters as well

that were voted out so recently.

I assume George Osborne can now just collect the wonga and not stand for re-election.

The expectation is that they will lose quite a few council seats in those elections that come up first.

In a general election I'd expect less of a swing. Wee Nic was getting a bit of bad press over her neverendum but some of that will be directed at the PM now.

My idea of the year.

During the UK General Election ask voters with a Postcode 'In Scotland' on a separate Ballot Paper.

1.

A. Do you want Scotland to be independent of the Rest of the UK?

B. Do you want Scotland to remain Part of the UK?

2.

A. If Scotland was to be Independent of the Rest of the UK do you want it to be a member of the EU?

B. If Scotland was to be Independent of the Rest of the UK do you want Scotland not to be in the EU?
