Gear box problem skoda octavia

My husbands skoda octavia has a problem with the gearbox, the gearstick seems very stiff, a mechanic mentioned it could be a problem with linkages rather then fly wheel, just wondering how much this sort of repair costs

Hi, we need a bit more info really to answer this for you, such as year, engine size and whether it is a mk1,2 or 3 octavia. Once you have this info, you would be better off posting in the octavia section on here - https://www.briskoda.net/forums/forum/169-skoda-octavia-owners/ , in the appropriate model year section, as it will get much more attention in there than here.

Ok help we seem to have totally messed up the gears we tried to do the adjustment and 1st gear is now reverse and 2nd won't engage at all !!!!
