My 2008 MK2 sport TD

Thought i would start a write up as i have done a few things and there are a few more things to come.

After selling my MK1 vrs i started regretting it a few weeks later so was on the hunt for another one. Couldnt find one to suit my criteria for my budget and eneded up finding a mk2 sport 40 miles away.

Test drive went very well, 69,000 miles, one owner from new with full service history and a recent belt and pump change.

Would be rude not to say no.

on the drive home from the garage the steering wheel was shaking under braking so replaced the front discs and pads straight away. When i stripped the rear drums down the steady posts crumbled into peices so for the price of it, new shoes, cylinders, spring kit and drums were fitted. One drum arrived silver and the other arrived painted black so gave both drums and calipers a lick of black paint.

Then picked up a full service kit and carried that out.

Whilst i had my car on the pit i decided to cover underneath in stone chip as i find it lasts longer than underseal.

After a few weeks i decided to give the egr and throttle body a clean out, they were both badly gunged up and required a few tins of cleaner to get them back to a decent state.

To stop this from happening again i did a fair bit of reading on catch tanks and for the price they cost i thought why not.

I was then on gumtree and found a set of 17" spiders which i refurbed over the course of a week and sprayed anthracite.

Also installed a dab radio and dash cam.

and here is how she sits now......

Also, have a read here:

I had "Better" bulbs in my car but nothing can beat HIDs and there is one really good set for sale for MK2 Fabia.

The difference between Bulbs and HIDs is like day and night.

I have 5000k ones but the ones for sale are OEM look (4700k). You will love it.

My parts that are arriving may be to do with lowering.

I have been looking at hid kits for a while but thought since its summer and the days are getting longer i would wait untill the nights start creeping in.

But if a set are going cheap i may indulge myself

I've stumbled upon a 4300k set in the garage after Slotty and his B-I-L relieved me of some parts last week!!

PM me if you're interested

operation 'suspension overhaul' is on for tomorrow.

4 shocks, 4 top mounts, 4 springs and 2 drop links have arrived. I have one of my aviation refuellers going for a test tomorrow morning so will have an empty workshop for 3ish hours.

Would be incredibly rude for me not to change all the parts in works time.

hopefully have some pictures up tomorrow night.

Funds at the minute cant justify £500+ on a set of decent coilovers.

a RARB is on the list and will take some pics tomorrow of the inside for you.

on the way home had to call into halfords and pick up an M14 spline socket. For some reason in the 9 toolboxes we have in work between the three of us, no one has an M14 spline socket.

lowering springs are fitted with new shocks etc but no pics as of yet due to the rear of the car not really sitting any lower.

The front is sat nice and low for how I want it but the back end is still stuck up. Have emailed the place where I got the springs to ask if I was sent the right springs.

That doesn't sound right but I remember having springs on mine and had the same issue. Front was lower but the back hasn't changed a lot. I then found out that my Shocks are totally done and need replacing and went with Colilovers

May have to look around for a set of rear lowering springs from a different manufacturer.

Must be someone out there who has a set of rears sat in there garage.

I will have the spare parts from my Weitec Hicon Coilover set once replaced. That's Rear Set up inc Springs, Front Set Up inc springs but with one spring snapped which costs £70 delivered from KW... :)

I can do you a good deal on anything you may need if you interested...

Quick update. Long story short i was sent a set of estate lowering springs.

New set of apex 40mm lowering springs are on there way. Anyone with an estate want a set of free springs lol.

latest saga with the springs. Apex are now not available so for £20 more I have a set of H&R on the way. Will be at my house tomorrow and fitted Wednesday.

I double checked with the company I ordered them from and they are for a hatchback..... not an estate!
