Skoda Fabia MK2 Vrs EPC Light

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I have had the EPC light come on a number of times over the last 6months.

I have spoken to the Dealer regarding the problem, they have changed the spark plugs and coil packs. Still doing it so they changed them again!.

That seemed to work for a while, but now it's happened again.

On the motorway, accelerated in 4/5 to overtake and the EPC light came on.

Pulled over and switched off, now it's ok.

Any my ideas on what else it could be?

Have you had to pay the Plugs & Coils?

So possibly,

Water Pump / Super charger magnetic clutch replacement time.

But do not have them wanting 2 years diagnostic time to diagnose @ £85 an hour.

Maybe James now at SEAT will be along with some advice.

I will bump the parts thread for you with the prices.

OK, then they need to do more checking, maybe on their work.

Was there an issue before the water pump change, Engine light / EPC light, and was it a coolant loss you noticed?

The corrosion at the connector has been an issue with some, as was at the ECU.

The thing is it probably is when the RPM is going below 3,500 and that means Turbo and demand for the Supercharger so just the same as the usual thing that happened when 1 spark plug is on the way out or a coil.

Hence why they were changing them.

I take it there are not enough misfires in the cycle to log misfires and the car is not going into limp mode and shutting down 2 cylinders and the turbo.

Going to be down to the professionals to find what the issue is.

Hopefully not valves.

I take it they are going to have to check the timing chain for stretch.

Pearce_JJ has had that done recently according to a recent post.

This is the Misfire, software CTHE posts, looking for the timing chain one.

OT,

but while talking about your car.

?

Did it need or get the latest DSG Service Campaign action '34H5' which some CTHE cars have been having and others with DQ200 dsg 2013-2015.?

Software Update for the DSG

  • 4 weeks later...

Just to add to this, the EPC light was still coming on.

So so I booked it in for Skoda to have a look.

Left it with them on Monday morning, they called back Monday evening to say that on the diag machine it brought up a Cam position sensor fault. (Could also be other faults, but that was the only one they mentioned)

They looked at the car yesterday, and I was told they are checking the timing of the car.

Hopefully i I shall get a call back today to see if the timing is OK.
