Locked Citigo broken in to

Mrs Stockport

Recommended Posts

Hi,

This morning I discovered that someone had been in my car. The back seat had been folded down and the glove box was open.

On reviewing my CCTV footage, I saw the person try to open the back door on the passenger side. It did not open. He then reached into

his pocket and within 5 seconds he then opened the door and was inside my car.

He spent over a minute rifling through the boot (from the inside of the car)

Nothing was taken, as I don't keep anything of value in my car.

My car is always locked and for a few minutes, I thought maybe I hadn't locked it, but my CCTV confirms it was locked.

Has this happened to anyone else?

How could you tell from the CCTV that it was locked??? Just curious.

How long have you had the car??? As above ^^^ Do you have both (maybe all three???) keys.

Did you see the hazards flash just before he opened the door?

Do you know "him"??? is his face visible???

If he had a key i would have expected them to drive off with it!

Any damage to the lock? Are you sure you have all the keys to the car? Do you trust who you bought it off?

Hi, no damage to the lock. A key wasn't used. I can clearly see him try the handle. I bought it new from a main dealer.

No sure why you think it was locked then. He could have checked to see if the door would unclip the catch but didn't open it at that point.

If it is a remote key, maybe he used some sort of gadget - would this appear as a fault in the records of the car?

Skoda may be interested in the footage

Hi, I can clearly see him try the handle. When it doesn't open, he then reaches into his pocket and some 5 seconds later he opens the door.

I have both keys.

The lights did not flash as he opened it.

I don't know him. He was seen trying 2 of my neighbours vehicles and my daughters car.

Unless all thoise cars were the same make, it is unlikely he had a remote gadget. He was looking for unlocked cars

I always lock it. I've just looked on my local neighbourhood watch site and it's been very common in the area, locked cars being rifled through. People are mentioning that the police

have said about a gadget that can unlock and bypass the alarm system. I had no idea that this type of thing happens. I will contact the dealer to see what they say.

Thanks for responding.

...you do know that there is no factory-fitted alarm?....unless they have "upped" the spec recently!

Did he get in any of these???

And was your car left locked or unlocked after he left it ???? :wondering:.

If you can review the CCTV footage of him trying the car door handle; why not scroll back a bit further to when you left the vehicle and see the indicators flash to confirm you locked it?

Once you establish that you can then easily rule out if the car was unlocked.....simples.
