1.2 HTP (54) - which brake discs and pads do I need?

It's difficult to search since most posts are about VRS or 1.4 MPI/TDI.

I'm not sure if brake discs and pads from those cars are suitable for my car.

Anyway, what I've found so far:

and

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Castrol-Response-DOT4-Synthetic-CAS-1773-7238-2/dp/B009QYBXAW

Are those two links suitable for my car? Can anyone suggest better? I'm going to take these to a local garage to fit them.

You need to establish whether the car has 239mm or 256mm discs first.  Easiest way to tell is to look at the outward facing surface of the calipers. If they say FS-II you have 239mm, if FS-III you have 256mm. Or you could measure them.

I've found car parts4less prices reasonable. But putting in 54 plate 1.2 gives a few variants.

CAUTION- Front calliper retaining bolt threaded holes are particularly sensitive. I suspect my fronts were changed by a grease monkey YTS in the place mine was first MOT'd at 30 months old and the threads damaged. Bloke who sorted mine out remarked that the he sees a lot of similar type brake setups giving problems with more monkeys doing brakes.

Right, I've checked. The brake calipers are incredibly difficult to read but all I saw was 'FR' and 'BB6'. I might've misread those but it's all I've got to go by since I couldn't even remove the tyre because wheel nuts are locked down tight.

To clarify, the 54 term refers to bhp, not its reg plate. The reg plate is 55.

I guess it's worth buying one of the two sizes on a coin flip chance I've got it right.

Any ideas as to which one is likely? 239 or 256?

Pls check PR codes on the sticker in boot (next to spare wheel)

1LM or 1LB - 239

1LQ or 1LR 256

1LN or 9U1 288

I can't find these codes on the sticker.

Sounds like you'll be right with the 239/FSII;  I just photographed a spare that has that same FR and 8B6 on the other bit from where the FSII is marked.

FSIII calipers are much more clearly marked, see a nice photo in the last post of this thread: https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/193404-more-brake-owes/
