2014 vrs overheated

My 2014 VRS TDI came up for a major service so decided to have the water pump changed last week (after seeing all the forum posts in here about overheating) All in all I had the following done:

 

New Water pump + Cambelt

DSG oil & Filter change

Full Major service

New front Pads

Diagnostic

Courtesy Car for 2 x days

 

 Came in at roughly £1250,  this was by a local specialist dealer who i cant recommend enough, brilliant service. Car had only done 38,456 miles but I decided to have it done for peace of mind, and since I share the car with my other half I prefer to keep it in best mechanical condition I can, although ive never had an issue with this car overheating, I know a friend who had no end of problems with his golf GTD, and since the cars are quite similar engine wise I thought it best to be done.

This issue came up with my 14- Mklll 1.6 Dti Elegance 44.4k 

1: Sensor replaced ...No change.

2: Electronic Water Pump replaced...No Change

3: Mechanical Water Pump/Seal + Cam Belt Job done

 

It appears there are actually 3(three) water pumps on these, who knew? 

when talking to Skoda UK they say they have no knowledge..

tried to get my local main dealer to do it but their lead time was over three weeks...( they would it Looker at it )

Therfore Skoda UK won't talk about it... good customer relations

Different matter,

but Euro 6 1.4TDI 3 cylinder engines are having water pump failures and the reason given by the VW Group is 'wrong coolant', 

so they get the Coolant changed,  Water pumps replaced, and maybe even water pumps replaced again. 

Odd that those with the changed coolant can have the replacement water pumps fail.

It should be pointed out that generally the pump itself doesn't fail, but the issue is that the sleeve which moves out to reduce water flow (to aid a faster warm up for the 'larger' diesel block) gets stuck instead of returning to its natural position once the water is up to temperature.

 

Specially this happens on VRS CR made around 2014, the part was later revised to prevent the sleeve from getting stuck.

or if it was done at a Skoda garage, you can ask the seller for a printout of the worksheet/service log direct from Skoda
