watched this an was interested to find that in Aus they arnt as easily convinced to have the update compared to us in the UK.

I nearly bought an A5 until I found it had been updated.

its interesting though that motorists in Aus seem to have been warned of the negative effects of the update, maybe through the media, whereas about 40-50% of UK motorists have blindly had it done after getting the letter.

ive even seen some people on forums recently asking if they should get it done. the A5 I nearly bought had had it done, and I could tell something wasn't quite right. it might even be why they traded it in.

I also noticed they didn't seem to sell it in the end and it and other cars on the lot that had sat there disappeared one week, presumably sold at auction.

I do think as a nation we are getting more and more hands off with our vehicles compared to when I was a kid and remember my Dad changing a clutch on one of our cars. I think its a combination of lack of knowledge about how they work, busier lives, and "the dealer knows best" mentality.

I have a VCDS cable so I'm usually one step ahead of what a service tech thinks is wrong. means I don't have to goto a main stealer ;) .

I doubt that many of the first 40% of vehicles that the VW UK CEO Paul Willis said were done were privately owned,

they were Lease Vehicles & Fleet and in Trade, so many were VW Group / Finance owned and used returns to Dealerships.

Hence VW Group never complained to VW Group.

Buyers of those first 40% vehicles seem to be having issues in greater numbers.

If so many were done back in early 2017 and Paul Willis testified it was 20,000 a week then surely they are well through the 1.2 milion vehicles now, or are they?

470,000 fixed by Feb 2017 he said which he said was under ha;f those affected with the 'not illegal in the EU Defeat device being present..

7 months on, even if 7 times 4 that is 28 weeks, & would be another 560,000 vehicles done at the 20,000 a week.

seems very unlikely.

Time VW gave the numbers again and how the  supposed 1% complaints are coming on, or have increased.
