Cruise Control

I have recently purchased a Sep 2016 Rapid SEL 1.2TSI which is fitted with cruise control.

In previous Octavias I have owned, cruise control switched off automatically when braking or changing gear.

However this Rapid cruise control switches off when braking but not when changing gear - is this normal?

In short, yes it is normal.

There has been a software change to the CC somewhere along the way.   On my old 1.6tdi cruise was deactivated when changing gear (as well as when braking).   On my 2016 1.2tsi changing gear does not deactivate cruise - as you have found.

Thanks Simon,

I now know that this is not a fault.

However it does seem peculiar that, when CC is activated and one changes down gear to slow the car before entering a bend, the engine revs then increase!

So when you press clutch pedal, engine revs going to red field???

Interesting thought; I suppose it would do if driving fast enough!

I tend to use CC in 4th gear to keep the car at 30mph whilst passing through a local housing estate .

So, when approaching my left turn and changing down at this speed, the revs are nowhere near the red line!!

Oddly enough, no.

I was half expecting that, but trying it out on my (new to me) Rapid the revs just drop when you press the clutch down.
