Advice for new tyres

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I own a 2011 TSI with 16" wheels.

The time has come to change tyres, whose size specs are 205/45/16.

Do you have any recommendation for a brand or what should I look for?

The car is mainly used for driving around the city and for some trips.

Since I am living in Greece, I would probably go with summer tyres with good traction on wet road.

Thank you for your time.

I've used all sorts in the past, uniroyal rain sport 3 are great but don't last, I find for value and performance I like falken tyres, either zeix or fk510 azenis, last well and are good in dry and wet

Thank you all for the suggestions!
Looked into it a bit more and the options were:

  • Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2
  • Michelin Pilot Sport 3 PS3
  • Dunlop SportMaxx RT
  • Bridgestone Turanza T005
  • Pirelli P Zero Nero GT

I have to take into account:

  • My engine, which is a TSI, i.e. some more speed, but not that much compared to Monte's or VRS.
  • I will be driving usually around the city and not on the highway that much.
  • roads in my country having a lot of potholes and bumps.

For the above, I believe I need tyres that have some kind of reinforcement on their sides.
What do you think?

It is a good idea to get a tyre with 'XL'  on it, Reinforced sidewalls.

Why not just go to your local tyre fitters, see what is on offer and looks good to you.

i just replaced two tyres with Dunlop SportMaxx RT 2  which have quietened down the road noise over the previous set.
