Hi,

Was driving home this evening and my dash dinged with a message saying 'Emissions Workshop'. It was only there a few seconds before disappearing and there were no other messages or lights at the time or afterwards. My car is a 2008 1.9TDI 4x4 (no DPF, pre-facelift).

What's the likely cause? I've seen everyhting from a £2 fuel sensor to a £350 job.

How many miles on the car?

I had this for 2 reasons over the years, might help 

1. The sensor wire near the oil filter housing I believe for coolant temp got trapped in the housing when oil filter changed. Repair to wire solved it. 

2. Last month EGR vacuum pipe split near EGR causing same issue. Repair cut short and reroute to avoid running under the engine cover. 

It's on 207k. Cheers, I'll check both those.

I recommend getting it scanned for codes ideally with VCDS. There is a map on the forum, hopefully a few helpful members on here. 

Turned out to be an EGR valve and a hole in a pipe. Cheers all!

So you needed to replace the EGR as well as the pipe ?
