Can anyone tell the the procedure for resetting the Airbag light on my 2001 Octy vRS - using vag-com.

I have replaced both airbags and the module

I have checked the airbag module part number and it is not the one that vag-com advise against scanning.

Its the same set up as the twin bag MkIV Golf if thats any help.

I know what you mean - I've just spent a fortune on replacement parts - I don't want to knacker them.

I've also got a Draper tool that says it can be used to reset airbag lights and the service indicators - I may try using that as a safer bet. Looks very basic and comes with instructions!!!

Hi Steve

I have just reset the light on my Golf and the module was one of those that they recommend that you do not scan.

You will need to go into the Airbag controller and clear the DTC's.

If you cannot clear them, I think you will need to check the software coding is correct for the new controller.

If you do not have the software coding, you may be able to obtain information from VAG-COM on the YAHOO.COM newsgroup or from someone with the same model of car.

I seem to recollect that if you fit a new controller the software coding needs to be checked (The DTC's should tell you if this is incorrect).

Hope this is of help

do the following

15-airbag

02-intergate fault

look through faults

05-erase faults

recheck faults to see if erased by going back to -02 intergate fault

ade

Thanks for this advice Ade - it was spot on , airbag light now out :)

It took all of 30 seconds to do. How does a main dealer justify
