I have just joined the ranks for Skoda drivers with a bright yellow Fabia vRS. Initial comments are that it is a fantastic and very underrated car.

Previously I had been down the highly customised Impreza route with around

Welcome to Briskoda, and stand by for all the advice you need - and more! :D

Welcome to the family, mate

I've never had a scooby so can't comment, but the greatest thing with the furby imho is the fact it's relatively quick standard, even quicker once rechipped but is still a "family capable" car. Oh, and it certainly doesn't drink oil like there's no tomorrow - I'm getting around 600 miles to a tank full now ;)

There are quite a few ex-scoob owners here who fancied similar performance at the fraction of the cost and keeping oem reliability. They'll no doubt make themselves known before too long :D

Regarding chipping it, take a look in the performance thread. Jabba is the favoured one on briskoda, but they all have their pluses and minuses.

Jabba are also now doing serial reprogramming, so they no longer have to physically tamper with the ECU to chip it.

Several people here have already had their fabia's chipped, and from several tuners. Graeme (fab16v) has been Jabba'd, Ross Clarke has been amd'ed (he works there ;) )

Just do a search in the performance section and you'll finds loads of useful info...

One last thing, all the octy drivers here fond of high performance know of this hill. Once you get to the top of it, no matter what you try and do, you just keep sliding down. You'll soon be a victim of the slippery slope :D Nice effort saying you'll only chip it, but I'd be very impressed if you just stay there ;)

Anyway, enough of my ramblings, enjoy the site

Welcome Kingant !

Some of it might even be useful :D

Welcome

Having had the scoob remapped twice, anti-knock sensors fitted, headers ported, straight through up and down pipes, decatted exhaust, adjustable racing suspension, 6 pot APS brakes, new lower profile wheels, replaced headlight units, driving lights, daft rear spoiler I added the price tag up just before I came to sell it and wept! Never again......

Just a sensible chip job and lights!

welcome kingant, good to have you on board! :D

Hi and Welcome!

Bulbs are easy enough to change but don't ask Jason (Devonutopia). ;)

You just remove the plastic cover......but remember to put the covers back on properly.

Check out powerbulbs.com for bulbs.

Remapping.....at the moment IIRC, there are only 2 companies caering for diesels (apart from the tuning boxws)....Jabba and AmD.

Check out the Companies section.

We get a 10% group remap discount with Jabba....these are arranged whenever there's a need. Single purchase qualify for a 5% discount.

As yet I don't think we get a discount with AmD.....I'm sure Ross will correct me if we do.

Both companies a getting around 180bhp from the 130PD.

Welcome to the forum

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Are the high power Ralleye bulbs ok or do they put out too much heat for the light unit?

Couple of quick questions of my own for you:

1. WTF are low profile wheels? :D

2. Have you ever posted on Scoobynet? I'm just trying to get together a list of those who have turned from the darkside.

Re the lights, I've run the Rallye bulbs for about 35k miles. Didn't melt the lenses or the wiring in the Octy. I gave some H7 100 or 130s to Jason who has been using them for a while with no ill effects. I know a couple of others are using them in the main beams with their xenons, don't think anything has melted yet, the airflow seems to provide enough cooling for the lenses and its unlikely you will be sitting still with full beam on anyway. Try either Osram Silver star or Phillips Vision plus (not blue vision) in the dipped and the rallyes in main. Order from www.powerbulbs.com and get free w5w sidelights for free (and yes, they are much brighter than standard). Jason (devonutopia)did some pictures of this combination

Powerbulbs order completed

I haven't visited ScoobyNet but am I correct in thinking that if I did, I would read about lots of disillusioned ex-vRS owners who now own Scoobys? Just asking....

PS And does the Scooby come in a better choice of colours than red, silver, black or yellow?

Yes. There are a few blue Imprezas ;)

My 8 year old son is still pretty disgusted with me for selling the Scoob but I have met a very nice bunch of people since turning to the dark side. I'll know it's time to move on when I start seeing people with bonnet scoops stuck on their Fabia's!

Blue , blue or blue.

Welcome to Briskoda Kingant.

Good choice of car BTW.

I hope you didn't have one of those so called estate Scoobs they are nearly as bad as the Octavia ones.

This was it (it's hopefully attached). Bet no-one will be able to work out the make, type and model of the car to the left!

1106.attach

May be a Porker 911 per chance?

Looks like it could be a 911

911, guessing at a turbo

Ok, 911 was the easy bit but it's not a turbo!
