My new Fab VRS

Featured Replies

Hello all,

Picked up my 53 plate vrs (black magic) last Sat (15.05.04). Now i know why there are so many enthusiasts. Can't stop driving it. Well impressed with everything as were with the few friends & family i've let drive it. Did have to suffer the the expected Skoda jokes at first. Feels rapid along twisty B roads with loads of grunt. I think it feels faster than it is though (feels faster than my sisters clio 182!). Was a bit peed off when being pushed along our local dual carriageway from 70 upto about 110 at which point i had to pull over and let the mini cooper past !!!!! (not even a cooper S). I'm trying to put it down to inexperience of the fabias powerband, still mega impressed though. :D

Suprised you've had a few jibes about your car. Can honestly say I havn't had a single adverse comment apart from mrs cj who refers to 'it' as my 'toy'! Flamin numpty.

Think your car needs a dose of jabbering or equivelant by the sounds of it. P'raps the mini had been 'played with'

Anyway it seems this is your first post,so welcome Cab! :thumbup:c.j

All of the jibes before they seen it. I don't think it was quite what they were expecting. All of those jibes have turned ino admiration now.

Oh, and thanks for the welcome

Come to think about it, yeah I got a few "your gettin' a skoda!!!!" comments, but like you they all shut their beaks when they saw it! :P C.J.

Because I hang around with the Subaru and Evo lot, I get quite a few jibes (well I used to). All good natured. & so was born the "slow black Skoda" :D

...and I hate to think what they say now

And welcome cab  and congrats on the purchase

Welcome to Briskoda! :)

The engines in these cars get much much better after a few thousand miles on them, by which time a mini cooper will be easy to beat as most standard engines produce circa 145bhp when run in. :D

You cant have been trying very hard if a non S Cooper beat you. I've beaten quite a few of those now, they are alright until about 60 and then I just sail past :D

Welcome and hello fellow vRS owner!! :D

Clio 182 maybe fast but the Fabia is alot better built plus when you chip it the you'll be all over the clio, trust me I used to own the 172 and the 182 isn't much faster TBH.

Welcome BTW.

Same here ;)

Also Tiff Needell drove both and the Fabia was quicker round a track, even though the Mini handled better

Thanks for all yor replies. With regards to chavboys comments about the build quality, i couldn't aggree more.

Must try harder next time, Must try harder next time, Must try harder next time, Must try harder next time, Must try harder next time, and i know it's going to be fun. :smrbow:

Welcome to briskoda Cab, sorry to hear about some adverse comments you've been getting, my neighbour screewed up his face saying "how can you compare a skoda to a polo gti, easily i said. Happy motoring anyway, good choice of car.

Indeed it is easy, just think about what you can do with the

Welcome to Briskoda and the Fabia vRS clan :)

Welcome to the club.... Now watch out for silver fabia's with L plates and then just dont even try it!!

Hi and welcome :)

I just traded in a Mini Cooper for my Fab vRS and mate its nowhere near as fast as my Fabia, the Mini feels fast at speed, but the Fabia IS FAST, oh and my cooper would have took ages to get to 110 *ahem* not that I ever tried ;)

All of the jibes before they seen it. I don't think it was quite what they were expecting. All of those jibes have turned ino admiration now.

Oh' date=' and thanks for the welcome [/quote']

I've had more people give positive comments on my Fabia than I ever had on my previous Golf's and Polo's. Anyway you tell a teenager or low twenties adult a Skoda joke these days and they haven't a clue what you're on about! after all VAG have done a fantastic transformation over the years so much so that people are opting for Skoda over VW, bet they never thought that'd happen!

Good purchase, wait till the tuning bug sets in, quite a few people on here suffer from it, I've had a mild dose but now it's back bigtime, now how much was that remap again? :)

Thanks again for the replies, what a friendly bunch you are. :D

Must admit, i can't get anywhere near the 50+mpg at the moment (more like 35). Suppose my tear arsing everywhere will subside after a while (it's bloody good fun though !!!) and the mpg will start creeping up. :D:D:D What is a realistic mpg figure with keen driving?

Mid 40's would be normal.

I dont get all the people that buy a 'sporty' car like the Fabia vRS then drive around the country driving like grannies trying to get the elusive 60mpg.

Stick ya bleeding foot down and give it some!

Dont worry about that mate, its very very very rare I get anywhere near 50 MPG. On the way home from work the other day, I got 29 MPG

If I have a good drive out in it, and give the car a good thrashing, then 35-40 MPG is probably typical for me. Compare that the a petrol car of similar performance, and I dare say you would be looking at a fair bit less especially if you were to use the performance. My oveerall average figure according to the trip computer since I got the car over 3500 miles ago is 36.5 MPG.

I have got 53 MPG before whilst cruising, but wheres the fun in watching the MPG guage? Give it some welly :D

As Ross says, why buy a sporty car then drive it like a granny... it really narks me when I get stuck behind some fast car driving really slow because they are so tight they want maximum MPG.

72mpg is possible!! ;-)

I achieved this (after driving like a granny!) on a 45 mile journey and no one stayed behind me for long!

(I've tried to attach a pic but this is the first time I've tried to post a pic so it may not have worked...)

1532.attach

Wow! That's an amazing figure!!! As a small hijack thread, you wouldn't happen to work in Hursley would you? ;)
