I have an 08 Octavia VRS (Diesel) and have had intermittent problems with the engine management light coming on - with the P0299 fault code. If you turn engine off and on again it disappears and may not come back for days or weeks, but then it starts to bog, lose power and then the light comes on again.   I took it to my local garage and they cleared the code and said try driving and see if it comes back again. Sure enough over time it did and this lead to the DPF light coming on (as I believe
