  1. I'd say it probably hasn't worked I'm afraid. Mine looked like that (photo above) after my dealer had tried to fix it once. I asked them to try again, and it obviously worked the second time. I'm not sure exactly what they fixed / replaced as I was fortunate enough to have it done under warranty, but I haven't seen any water on the kick-plate since they properly fixed it. Stu
  2. Brun, For you and others looking for the handy guide - please see the link below. It was linked on the first page of this thread but I think the link has been broken. I've just checked and this seems to be correct now. Hope it helps! Fabia-vrs.com - Re-sealing Fabia Rear Ancillaries Carriers Stuart (not the same Stu that runs the fabia-vrs.com website!)
  3. Yes. A friend of mine bought an estate and it had the same problem. Thankfully, the independant dealer he bought it from was prepared to carry out the repair. Stu
  4. Tom, Is this going to be a trackday car? Or do you plan to use it as an everyday runabout? What kind of performance figures are you expecting? I can't wait to hear stories of other drivers' surprise! Stu
  5. Hmmm... drool...!! Wish I knew more about engines, but that lot just looks sweet! It's going to make a beastly noise! Stu
  6. It won't know what's hit it! Good to see you have a shell now - looking forward to see the project progress. Stu
  7. OK, for anyone patient enough to still be following this thread, behold a few pics of the finished outcome. Apologies for the poor photos. There was a little bit of rain starting to fall so I was a bit hurried and the light wasn't good enough for the simple camera on my PDA. I'll try to take them again when I have time and replace these with better ones. False floor with Amp access hatch open (this lets me fiddle with the amp adjustment): False floor with Amp access hatch closed: False floor hinged up to allow access to spare wheel: Et voila - the finished outcome: It's been a fun project to do. I'm pleased with how it looks, and (probably more importantly) very pleased with the sound. It's so nice to have a sub again, and a Rockford Fosgate at that!! Thanks all for your input and advice. Stu
  8. Oh yeah! I did look at your album a few weeks ago, but I was concentrating on the boot build. I must have completely missed the image of the fuse! What kind of home hifi are you in to? My next project when I have some spare cash lying about (like that happens!) is to build myself a HTPC to handle all my TV / music / future Blu-Ray needs. But then I'll need a new TV too in order to do it properly! Now, where are those money tree seeds...! Stu
  9. That's really neat, Tom. I didn't think to put the fuse under that cover. Hmm, kinda wish I had now! Maybe next time! Stu
  10. The build is just about complete now. It's all fully wired in and working (even the fans!). I still need to trim the carpet properly, and add bolts and straps to hold everything down in the event of an accident, but other than that it's spot on. For anyone still following this thread I'll post a few completed pics when the last bits and pieces are finished off. A couple more pics from just before I put the carpet on and the sub in... Before the floor went in: False floor cut to fit: Stu
  11. Progress photos... I've been soldering this evening, to put the relay together, and the Neutrik connector. It took a bit longer than I'd hoped. The solder didn't really want to take to the spade connectors so each one took a while but it's done now! The relay all wired together: The overall amp 'box' ready to under the new floor: Fans installed: Hope you like the pics! Stu
  12. Thanks for your reply, twonks. The carpet is great - pretty good quality from what I can tell, and it seems to match very well with the OEM carpet in the car. Thanks for your suggestion about the fans, but I think I just might have solved it anyway: I tested the fans powered from the battery cable and they worked fine with no humming through the speakers. I don't know exactly why, but it seems wiring them straight into the head unit cable has sent interference back down the cable to the head unit, which then transmits it as a hum through the speakers. So, I'm now going down the relay route, only using the head unit's cable to switch the relay. The power will come from the battery feed. I'm going to get the necessary parts from Maplin this evening and hopefully get the bulk of it finished over the weekend. Can't wait! Stu
  13. One more pic - I started building the structure... Is it possible to change the name of a thread? Are there any moderators reading this that could do it? Just thinking that it's not 'planning' anymore - it might be better to call it 'ICE Install - in Progress' or something... Stu
  14. Pics as promised... Anyone any ideas about the interference of the fans? Don't need this anymore! It's the practically useless bit of plastic at the back of the Head Unit, and it just gets in the way if you've got too many wires! The only shot of my RCA cables running down the O/S of the car: Power cable and fuse connected to the battery: Everything wired up in the boot: Stu
