Easy Linux install for Windows users
anonymouse replied to swedishskoda's topic in The Technology Shed
Might be of interest - no need to partition etc Easily Install Ubuntu Linux with Windows Using the Wubi Installer http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/9142/easily-install-ubuntu-linux-with-windows-using-the-wubi-installer/ "No matter which route you take to install Ubuntu with Wubi, everything is installed to C:\Ubuntu directory. .................... After the first reboot, you can choose between Windows 7 or Ubuntu at the Windows Boot Manager screen. The uninstall process is extremely simple as well and consists of two screens. Verify you want to uninstall Ubuntu… ............................... That’s it! It’s uninstalled and you have your hard drive space back. When you reboot your system, there’s no leftover funky GRUB or other bootloader to worry about. Your PC will boot directly into Windows. " -
Ah, but is it better than XP ? :p

http://www.faststone.org/ Faststone Image Viewer is very good. Others seem to like Picasa.

Oops - missed that one. Yes, from Googleing is a HP / Compaq specific folder. Not much other information about it other than seems to be backup of certain registry hives. Do not delete to be on safe side.

MSOCache are 'backup' files created by MS Office installation to speed up repair, reinstallation, uninstallation - so, yes, you can get rid. i386 folders exist even in Windows 7 but are buried inside winsxs folder - so you should be safe to delete these 'external ones' (I suspect this folder on yours is a backup of the i386 folder from the original XP installation). So, yes, delete the bold ones and the MSOCache.

So, that's 30k clockwise and 21k anti-clockwise around the barracks. Good job I told you to alternate after your 1st 9k else you'd have gone through even more tyres. :p -

I'd certainly recommend it + I did mention it to you before Freeware - just register at home site for 1yr, then re-register after again for next year etc.
