  1. I've just switched from AA to Green Flag - I've usually managed to negotiate decent discounts with the AA at renewal as I've not had a callout with them since I joined in 2009, but they didn't play ball this year and GF were significantly cheaper. Did some web-based research for the usual horror stories but there doesn't seem to be much difference between any of the big three. I think a lot of the devil is in the detail of what they cover, etc. - for my purposes I wanted something cheap and basic.
  2. I'd have thought this could be quite advantageous, as it would allow you to build-up/retain your no-claims discount at their expense which you wouldn't be able to do with company car insurance (some insurance companies will take a letter from a fleet manager into account but it's by no means universal in the industry).
  3. 7cm is a favourable case - hitting the right angle on a reader for it to be picked up. Realistically 2-4 cm is a more likely range, and even that would be patchy in terms of reliability - it's going to look very suspicious harvesting card details that way in public. There are more reliable ways to get a higher yield of cards, and more useful information to boot (for the information you get off scanning a contactless card you might as well just use a PAN generator).
  4. Think the export-csv just needs to be thus: Export-Csv -Path "\\fileserver\Codir\Internal IT\Restricted\Output files\$env:computername output.csv" –NoTypeInformation (works for me, anyway )
  5. You should be able to get a receipt for contactless payments, but you might need to ask for it. Like I say without knowing the layout of the tills it's hard to comment - the terminal she brushed past would have needed to be expecting a card payment at that time, in which case there would have been someone stood very close to it ready to make a payment. From that I'd speculate that either the readers were badly positioned, or she's got very little respect for other people's personal space...
  6. Amazon wouldn't be allowed to store the CVV code, which would mean things like One-Click, etc. wouldn't be as convenient. They will be paying a higher transaction rate to their acquirer for not performing this check on payments and the higher risk of fraud that presents, but the flip side of this is that if you are defrauded by someone via Amazon then there will be little/no dispute in getting refunded. I don't see how that'd work - the device will only connect to one card at a time, and if the payment's successful you won't be able to pay it again. The stories I've heard of this relate to "user error", in that the shop assistant hasn't realised the transaction has gone through contactless and so has initiated a second payment using chip'n'pin. You need to have your card within about 7cm of the device for there to be a chance of it being detected - without seeing the layout of the tills it's hard to say whether the card devices are positioned sensibly, or whether the woman in question was doing something wrong. The liabilities are purposefully low due to the limits on the amounts you can pay, and the number of times you can pay them without needing to verify with chip'n'pin - so your bank should reimburse you without argument.
  7. No - my point is that addictive personalities will always find something to be addicted to, and given enough exposure to that it'll kill them. Someone who uses controlled substances won't inevitably end up a functionless addict - any more than someone who recreationally consumes alcohol is destined to become an alcoholic.
  8. Although if a significant proportion of those recreational users don't degenerate into "smackheads" then it's not really arrogance, is it? Well, no more than someone who enjoys a glass of wine is arrogant in thinking they're not going to become an alcoholic. Addictive personalities can become addicted to pretty much anything...it doesn't have to be a controlled substance.
  9. There are plenty of high-functioning recreational drug users out there. And you probably wouldn't even be able to tell...
  10. Never had any problems with mine...the skinny tyres worked really well in the snow. It was in the dry where it was "interesting".
  11. Had an X-reg CDI - was bulletproof, despite general neglect (first owner covered 13k in 5 years without servicing it). Interior was very well put together, and the engine never gave me any problems and on a run could easily return 80mpg. You get used to the gear change, I'd argue that it helps teach you to anticipate better as you can't leave it 'til the last minute to think about changing gear. There are some excellent specialists out there anyway so you don't have to pay for Mercedes labour rates. And for insurance it's worth checking out MSM Insurance (one of their specialities is insurance for smarts).
  12. MS Infopath is designed for what you're trying to do...
  13. I'm still a bit unclear as to what lesson you were trying to teach him...not to overtake?
  14. In fairness, I can see why me referring to it as "the DNS option" may've left some details unclear.
  15. In your scenario you're correct, if you were just relying on DNS resolution it wouldn't work...you'd need all requests to be checked against the DNSBL and then permitted/denied, there are various plugins and proxies that'll do this sort of thing.
