  1. Many thanks Softscoop for the prompt reply. I was able to access the keyhole thanks to your vid link. Thanx again. R.
  2. Can't get in 2009 superb DSG CR 170 Presume battery is flat. Both sets of keys can't open doors or boot. Is there a manual override or do I smash window to access bonnet release to get to battery. Any help really appreciated. Away on hols with a 4 and 6 year old. Cheers Robert.
  3. Just realised that the normal swirly screen doesn't appear at start up when switching the unit on. I don't know if that means anything to anyone. Sent from my iPad3 using Tapatalk
  4. Thanks, I've just tried cleaning/wiping/covering what I think you meant as a sensor, not sure if you mean a sensor on the unit itself or ones above my head next to the mic but neither make a difference. It's so random when it works or doesn't work. One extra thing I've not mentioned is that I had a flat battery after the 7 week lay up and tried jump starting it with a spare fully charged leisure battery which didn't start it and then tried again successfully with the Fabia battery with engine running. There was some horrible clicks and things when trying the jump start. Don't know if that is relevant. Cheers and thanks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Sorry. Screen is UNVIEWABLE again and founts should read doesn't. Cheers R. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Just s little update. Started up the car this morning and everything is fine, the screen was bright and clear. Did a bit of shopping and off in the car again, this time the screen is in viewable again. There founts seem to be any rhyme or reason for this intermittent fault. Anyone know of this fault on a Columbus? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. My 2009 Superb has been laid up for 7 weeks because I've been laid up for 7 weeks ( broken bones!!) and now have a Columbus fault.. I started her up for the first time yesterday and noticed the 'off' screen that just shows the time was very faint, I switched the Columbus on and I could just make out that the screen did show whatever screen detail I switched to and all the features worked. When reverse was engaged the reversing screen with the car picture appeared at full brightness but when progressing normally it faded back as before. I stopped and tried reverse again but this time the screen didn't illuminate correctly. I drove to an underground car park so that I could see the screen better in the reduced light. I played about with all the car light settings and the Columbus settings initially to no avail. However after 15 mins or so (whilst trying different settings unrelated to display settings or anything) the screen brightened up to normal brightness and continued to work fine for the rest of the day. Anyway, today, I'm back to the duff screen. I've just tried playing a DVD but can't see anything, the sound is ok as it is for radio and sat nav. I searched for this here and found one topic relating to a Bolero unit but as it finally worked there was no follow up only a comment that there may be a software update to resolve it so I've posted my unit's details below. Any help appreciated. Cheers Robert. Sent from my iPad3 using Tapatalk
  8. Just had a horrible thought, does anyone know if this problem could in any way connected to the fact my Fab has had a new water pump fitted a couple of hundred miles ago. Sent from my iPad3 using Tapatalk
  9. Thanks OoTW, I've tried turning the knob control to full and switching the max windscreen button on, both increase the bars on the LCD display to full but no luck with any blown air thanks. I was hoping it was a blown fuse or loose wire or some 'reset' function like mrgf's battery trick rather than dealer fix. ???? Sent from my iPad3 using Tapatalk
  10. Thanks mrgf I may try the ol' battery trick tomorrow but will deffo not be doing any chores, the leg in plaster excuses me from any of that sort of thing. Thanks Lee01, not sure if the climatic air con control has fan resisters, any idea how I find out if it could be them? Cheers R. Sent from my iPad3 using Tapatalk
  11. The blower has stopped working on my 2008 Fabia two 3 (Elegance), I've replaced the 5amp fuse number 9 (operating control for heating, control unit for air conditioning ) and the 7.5amp fuse number 22 (heating, air con as above) and the 25 amp fuse number 39 for the blower, none of them had blown anyway. When I turn the ignition and start the car the Climatic Control LCD panel flashes for about 10 secs ( it's never done this b4) then shows as normal, the different functions change correctly as different options are chosen but no air comes out of any vent. I've bust my foot so am not driving at the mo so can't establish if any heat comes out when the thermostat kicks in or whether the coolant temp dial moves. My wife can't/won't drive the Superb so we are stuck when it's cold/damp/icy at the moment. Does anyone have any idea what's causing the problem, I've just paid for cam belt and pump on both motors and my eyes are still watering and so hoping there is an obscure quick fix for it. Any help appreciated. Cheers Robert. Sent from my iPad3 using Tapatalk
  12. Hi Wayne, I had my DSG oil and filter change done last month at RRG main dealer in Bolton for £150 all in, I was quoted the same price last spring but with low mileage and only a little over the recommended time I opted for a good detailing at Chris's and a chat with you!! Although it's not shown on the website I think the DSG oil & filter change is included in the national pricing. Just mention some dealers are quoting £150. My invoice breakdown was: Labour. 0.80. £50.65 6F7 Filter. 1.00. £11.31 6G GETR. OEL. 5.00. £59.80 SPORD SEAL. 1.00. £3.25 Total £125.01 Plus vat and presume OEL means oil. Mines the CR 170 Hope the above helps. Cheers Robert. Sent from my iPad3 using Tapatalk
  13. Thanks Ste, they are a proper main Skoda dealer but are having problems with their gear. I'm glad they didn't attempt mine on the Superb. I picked my Fabia up from them today and they were still having probs with another Columbus update. I will probably get it done in the spring when it's service time. Cheers R. 14. Well, just an update on my map update today. The unit wasn't damaged mainly because they didn't update the maps....... I think they were too scared. I don't mind really. I'd rather wait until they know what they are doing. Just hoping that the cambelt/water pump/DSG oil and filter change work was done properly. Time will tell I suppose. Something will probably go whilst towing my c/van in France next year!! Sent from my iPad3 using Tapatalk
