  1. Ahoj, Been to both Budapest and Lake Balaton - when are you thinking of going and come to think of it where (its a very big lake). Balaton is very nice with many different contracts. It is a great tourist/holiday the shore line is springled with little towns/strand's catering to the Austrian Shilling (sorry Euro). The best way to describe the towns I can remeber is like an inland west coast resort - if you get my drift. Oh yes and very hot...
  2. Nice one... I am astonished that you have found someone to take your order. When ever I have asked my local dealer if he has any information about the Fabia vRS, they just shrug their sholders and mumble that Skoda "dont tell them anything"... Mind you I have never been that impressed by them (although there is one lad in the service area who seems switched on)...
  3. Ahoj, A fabia toolkit is much the same as you've described. Only the bits of metal you described are if you have alloys, normally you get a bent bit of wire to remove the plastic wheel facia thing (what are they called again) er trims maybe... The "extras" which I carry, are... Tow rope Warning triangle First aid kit Tyre preasure gauge Tyre tread depth measure thing Jump leads A tourch A spider for much the same reason as you Ive stopped carrying bulbs because I havent brought any spare ones yet - must get round to that some day And on very, very long journeys I have been known to pack a sleeping bag...
  4. How about an ice cube... - Rub the ice cube on the gum and it should just flake/roll off. A bit like putting it in the freezer but a bit more practical.
  5. With regard to a sticky speedo gear, the last (and first) time did that job. I first turned a blow torch onto it - trying the old expansion/contraction trick. Dont think it worked though, because I ended up lying under the engine, useing a flat head driver and tapping it out with a hammer.
  6. Hey Daytripper... Don't point your rage all at Blair's door. He is continuing what Thatcher started over 20 years or so and given the chance that social disease IDS, would be playing along as well. Never forget - its the establishment which is the enemy not individuals...
  7. LoL - I just read what I said - DOH...
  8. Er - take your pick... RL 4 ton truck MK 4 ton bouser (forgive spelling) Sultan and a couple of hours with a Westland Scout
  9. I've been jumping from one crdit card to another for 18 months now, taking advantage of their 0% interest for six months promotions. About a month before the promotion ends, you get a letter telling you of the interest rate that you will be charged. When you get that - its time to start surfing the net for the next promotion. The secret is - once you have transfered your balance DO NOT make any purchases with that card. Dont worry about the Barclaycard promotion. In answer to an earlier point, yes they are the company most likely to scr#w (all at least try to) and anyway - there are many more companies out there who will let you transfer your balance at 0% no other restriction/catches.
  10. I'm not certain of the reasoning for this poll. As far as I am concerned, reading the comments in the earlier thread it is fairly clear what the general concensus is. Yes to some "tweaking" to ensure the guy's in the back room aren't out of pocket and to support the growth of this forum (for the mutual benefit of all). But as for the establishment of an owners club - Its been said before, but there already is one of those up and running. I wont say how I voted - I think you can guess. With regard to the "Skoda Owners" website. They do have a link to bulletin board "Skoda Rescue" which is for posting "For Sale" items and requests for help. Posted my old Favorit and within a two>three days had four or five enquires and I was rid within 5 days. So there must be some activity there - although it may not be as interactive/immediate as we enjoy here.
  11. Hang on - lets not get ahead of ourselves. Speculation about the estate is all well and good - sorry FlipFlop. BUT... Does anybody know when they are going to launch the hatch ?
  12. YES - That was it... Or something like that anway...
  13. I can remember at the end of the last series of Top Gear, when asked, a member of the audience said that they drived a Skoda RS. Clarksons response was that he had a seriously fast car !!! Was that prase...? Either way - I agree with Steve, Clarkson is a ******.
  14. Sounds like a neat idea. However... Would have to be careful with the name. There already is a "Skoda owners club", their web-site is not as organised/inter-active as this one (in fact it is just plain boring) http://www.skoda-owners-club.co.uk/ I also think they might get a nod and a wink from Skoda as there bumber sticker sports the company logo - I saw one in the back of an Octy the other week.
  15. Although I have thought about it - Fabia's are just to popular... However I did when I had my Favorit - one day whilst on some back road in darkest Romania. Driving my LHD dark blue, UK registered (F) Favorit, I turned the corner and coming the other way... Another LHD dark blue, UK registered (F) Favorit. When they say it is a small world...
