  1. Hi, The heated mirrors on my MK1 vRS have stopped working. Does anyone know which fuse feeds these please? Many thanks Paul
  2. Thanks guys, sounds straightforward. The vRS is an 03 so it looks like a clip on job. One more question - how does the washer mount then? - from the brief look I had it looked like that was also clipped into the wiper blade. Many thanks Paul
  3. If it was me, I would go for a set of mud and snow tyres on a cheap set of steel rims. I worked in Poland for a few years and I can remember being humiliated by old Skodas (the ones with the engine in the back) making my Golf GTI look like a hippo on iceskates. The only difference was that they fitted winter M&S tyres and we stupid brits tried to keep going on our normal summer tyres. Paul
  4. I've been meaning to change the rear wiper blade on my VRS for a while and decided today to go to Halfords to get a replacement. Unfortunately, by the time I bought it the light was failing and it was difficult to see how you remove it. I was expecting it to be the same as replacing front wiper blades, but it didn't look anything like it. Can someone who has done this before let me know how to do it. Many Thanks Paul
  5. I need some help on a problem with the parking sensors for my 03 Octavia vRS. I asked my dealer at the last service to have a look at the rear parking sensors as they had stopped working. He diagnosed a faulty control box and said he would order one. Well, it has been a few months and it hasn't turned up. I thought that I might have a go at fixing it myself. Is it a straightforward job? Where is the unit located? Does anyone know the part reference for the reversing sensor control unit and where the best place to order it would be. Many thanks Paul
  6. The same thing happened to me a couple of years ago - the first winter in my VRS. I actually got stuck on a flat road with a heavy camber. There was me and a guy in a brand new 5 series BMW completely stuck. Every time we tried to move forward we just slid into the kerb. We gave up when a kid on a moped came past us with both his feet down sliding through the snow. We abandoned the cars and walked home. That evening I remembered a conversation I'd had with someone regarding traction control and about turning it off when in snow. I walked back to my car later that evening, turned the traction control off and the car just pulled away with no drama at all.
