  1. id imagine there would be insurance implications should something happen that could have been prevented by this safety feature, thats why car insurances are cheaper, abs, tc, acc etc etc all remove some driver error. we have a small raised metal plate in the road where i enter work and the emergency braking system often operates, not good at 5am for the car behind me but rather than knock it off (VW commented on insurance implications) ive found a work around, dip the clutch but in order to try helping here, can you not adjust the distance that it activates at and reduce it to as little as possible so it has less effect? I have several pre set settings on my vw but without reading the manual i cant say if you can tweak those even more
  2. a heated front screen would be far more useful, i only get cold hands from scraping the bloody screen
  3. i take most surveys with a pinch of salt, there only as good or bad as the people voting
  4. with renaults you could do this at home, i had a little proggie that would tell you the sequence of buttons you needed using the vin number, you just put ignition on and pressed certain buttons to enter the code but im sure things have moved on a little now
  5. why not just stick your car there before he arrives, that way he has to look for another place to park, if his daughter asks why you do this you can say its too awkward to get your car off your drive when he does it so to save me crashing into his car this is the best solution for all. do it for long enough and I'm sure he'll get the message, no arguments, no stickers on his car, no letting his tyres down etc etc i was always taught not to park across a driveway so I'm assuming its the done thing, no idea about opposite it though. A guy only did it once to my drive and just as i was about to turn onto it too, oh ill only be a minute he says, that's ok mate it only takes me 30 seconds to let your tyres down, needless to say he moved forward a little. Id say access is one of the most irritating things that happen between neighbors and the root cause of all fall outs with them
  6. it only makes sense if you keep doing it, if the cars you get are keepers then just buying is the better option in the long run its rumored that these pcp types are the next ppi, start of the deal 'yes youll have equity in it sir' end of deal 'no sorry theres no money left in it sir' as said, keep doing it then its worth it, one off job isnt, horses for courses
  7. ive already had one replaced on my golf due to this and the wife has a 15 plate clio and all 4 have it, not even 12 months old. these fancy wheels look great but just dont last long at all, ill stick to 1 colour next time
  8. aren't auto wipers and intermittent wipers 2 different things? in my golf there's no frequency selector for the auto wipers, the speed is automatic depending on how heavy the rain is, you just place the stalk into the 'auto' position
  9. ive just done 70 miles prog 1 with +2 and again all is good but i cant notice if theres any real difference, has Andy said what the +1+2 etc actually do to each prog? and also the -1, -2 etc? if i have to do enough miles on each of the 18 settings to find the best its gonna take some time and ill prolly have forgotten what each of the earliest tried ones felt like by the time i get to the last
  10. well if its something like 11% that still makes it nearly 67 mpg, ill take that any day
  11. i think the trip must be a bit out on mine, usually on my 20 mile trip to work i get late 50's sometimes early 60's today i got 75 i know they said it improves it but not sure thats correct, i guess brim to brim will be the proper answer but only 90 miles into it
  12. ive just fitted mine, using prog1 +1 first but i can feel the difference already with mid range being much better
  13. i cant see it being an issue, no different to the car using stop/start
  14. the thing i dont quite get is what each setting really alters so im left with pressing buttons and getting a feel without knowing if im doing any harm, ok if you know what your doing but not if your a complete novice like me so in n00b language sport, sport plus and eco, what are there really changing and then the +3-3 whats that doing so i can feel more comfortable changing things a little also the advice part you offered above, is that when im connecting the tuning box? maybe you can also offer advice what each prog is adjusting and then what the +3-3 is affecting, i dont want the power like an on/off switch just linear, in gear acceleration is what i need not 0-60 so is one prog better at that than the others for example, cheers
  15. 1 : its a lot cheaper than buying a faster car, that was my dilemma owning the 150 tdi after the 180 bhp fabia vrs, a bit of a come down 2 : i'm told once removed theres no trace at all, ill find out next service 3 : added 15% to my policy which is £213, so about £240 ish (this is my renewal price in 4 days time) 4 : too early to tell but would you really rag the car 100% of the time or just use it for overtaking ease like i do? if you have the cash then why not, like ive said its cheaper than buying a faster car and your fitting it to a car you know
