  1. I have just put some Hankook Icebear W300's 225/40/18 92V on the front of my new vRS, £115 fitted and they have a similar tread pattern to the Conti's, so look spot on. The tyre palce will charge me £7.50 to put my summer tyres back on as well. Seems to handle exactly the same. I spoke the tyre centre and they just said put them on the fronts, for the amount of snow we get, they will be fine. If I was living in Norway then I would buy 4, but I dont so 2 it is.
  2. See below. http://www.hankooktire-eu.com/tires/tire-presenter-single-view/view/singleView.html?aoetirepresenter%5Boffset%5D=0&aoetirepresenter%5Btire%5D=20&aoetirepresenter%5Bback%5D=216&cHash=a713a7446eeb28d54e8c05e5da4e4f66
  3. I have just put two Hankook Icebear W300's on the front on my new vRS, they are 225/40/18 92v and the tread pattern looks exactly the same as the Cont sport contact, apart from the increased number of slits in the tread and softer compound , so look great, these have the snow/mountain symbol on the side. £115 per wheel fitted and they will charge me £7.50 per tyre, when I come to put my summer tyres back on. I spoke the guys at the tyre centre and they said they said that it would be fine to just change two tyres on the front with the amount of snow we get in the UK. They seem very good so far, they seem to handle just the same as the summer conti's with no increase in noise. Last year I took the vRS off the drive and couldn't get it back on the level of grip was so bad. So i bought some snow socks, these were great, but you have to take them off when you drive for long stints on tarmac or they wear out. So hopefully these should be OK.
  4. Scott, I think I have the same noise on my 06 vRS, it sounds like a creak from the corner of the dashboard that is particularly annoying and spoils the car. I has been into the dealer for 4 days and after replacing the windscreen they now think its a panel behind the windscreen/bulkhead, so to me it sounds like the same issue. However until they get it in the bodyshop for a week(dash out etc) they are still unsure how to fix the problem. Do you know what the garage in Wakefield did to fix it? If you could let me know that would be great? No issues with the garage though (Horners - Rochdale they have been great)!! Stuart.
  5. Before I get slagged off anymore for not posting a reply. It was the induction pipe that had gone soft due to heat from the manifold and this was collapsing under vacuum. Stuart.
  6. I have just had my surging problem fixed at the dealers after several months of the problem occuring and several visits to the dealers. The engine kept surging below 2000rpm and the driveability from setting off was very poor especially when cold. I swapped my RS with the service manager for a couple of days to let him find the problem. They did two things, they cleaned the throttle body and also found a turbo vacuum pipe that was collapsing, as it was too close to the manifold and had gone a bit soft. They replaced the pipe and now its perfect. No surging and drives smoothly from start off even when cold. Stu. :mw:
  7. Denis, I have already tried this and the problem still remains. However the dealer rang me this morning after they had been speaking to Skoda Technical and they are going to replace the throttle body as they think this could be the cause. Apparently some VW owners have had the same problem. Stu.
  8. Welcome to the club!! my RS does exactly the same thing, surges at around 1500rpm particularly after setting off in first gear. It does not do it as much if let the revs drop right off and then accelerate again. However the dealer cannot find a fault. I am now waiting for the skoda technical dept to take a look at it. It is obviously a sensor somewhere but no fault codes are being detected. It does not do it all the time but it is particularly annoying when it happens. Stu.
  9. Anyone help? When accelerating normally i.e around town, my RS does not accelerate smoothly but surges and is very jerky to drive. This mainly occurs in first and second gears and also occurs sometimes after changing down into second. It is as though the turbo comes in earlier than it should rather than 2000rpm. There is a surge of power around 1400rpm and then something seems to stop it and then the turbo comes in a normal. There is also sometimes a
  10. My RS has had a similar cold start problem and they have significantly improved it by fitting a new set of plugs , of all things. I also checked the temp sensor as I know they changed this and it is a green one. Stu. :mw:
  11. My RS is in today for new coilpacks, ordered by my dealer on the 15.04.03, so quite a quick delivery. I was expecting 3 weeks at least after listening to all the bad publicity. Stu.
  12. No the engine management light does not come on. It is at the dealers tommorrow again anyway, but I will mention the MAF sensor to them as i have read somewhere else that that could be the cause. Thanks. Stuart.
  13. I am new to this forum but I have a couple of problems with my RS:- Problem 1: On start up from cold the engine starts OK, however if drive away while the engine is in its fast idle program (1200rpm), then it either drives but runs a bit rough, or it sometimes it won
