  1. Had same problem with my 2008 Octavia 1.8 TSI within 500 miles. It went in to my local dealer where they changed the gasket and reassembled. Car has now done 48k miles and no problems since.
  2. Thanks for forwarding James, I will grant permission for you to take a photo or two when it arrives as it may be one of the first Lava / Petrol Blue Yeti to arrive in UK ! It blends nicely with the the black exterior trim and roof rails in my opinion. See you in September hopefully.
  3. I bought a pair recently to use when driving abroad as I have attached beam deflectors. There are meant to be two dark plastic L shaped clips which fit onto the bottom of each cover. Then the cover is fitted in place by angling the shaped top lip so that it slides under the wing, immediately above the headlight, then pivot it and slip the bottom L shaped clips under the bottom of the headlight. It is a tight fit so cant see how yours has fallen off. You dont need to open the bonnet to fit or remove.
  4. I have a Mk II1.8 TSI having come from a Mk I1.9TDI ( 110bhp). So far no regrets.Pleasant surprise about the insurance being same group with close to 50% more BHP !. The petrol engine is much more refined and the acceleration is more progressive. Sounds better too !. Cant comment on the MkII PD engine but think the 105bhp models are only 5 speed box if thats important to you. I intend to keep the car for 100k miles plus and the fact it is a timing chain rather than timing belt was a factor as I am hoping for slightly lower servicing costs over its life.
  5. I have done 1000 mls in my Octy estate with the 1.8TSI engine. My last car was an Octy 1.9 110 TDI. SWMBO has a Fabia VRS with remap to 170bhp. I'm very impressed with the pick up and the refinement. Power is delivered smoothly in gear. main problem is getting acclimatised to filling up more often as I cant get over 40mpg whereas both other cars mentioned could average 50mpg. Still at least the fuel is cheaper ! Happy Motoring
  6. Won product of the year in this weeks Auto Express. I would like to know if anyone has experience of it and in particular where is it mounted and wired in. KJB
  7. ETA early April. Corrida Red Octy 1.8 TSI estate ( Ambiente 'cos of 0% deal ) with Pegasus alloys/sports suspension/front fogs/variable boot floor. My front drive will look like a Skoda dealers with SWMBO's Fabia VRS & my Mk1 Octy TDI which l plan to sell privately.
  8. Hi, I've ordered a Octavia 1.8TSI estate in Ambiente trim with sports suspension & Pegasus alloys . Does this count as a "modification" ?. Interested to hear how much this option affects premiums. Any recommendations for companies who wont load the premium for factory fitted options. ? thanks KJB
  9. I'm going to be selling me car soon & want to include a car relevant plate as I bought the plate and car from new. Dont know who to contact and dont want to be pestered or scammed. Any suggestions ? Cheers KJB
  10. Hi, I'm interested in the 0% offer on Octavia Ambiente at the mo & will be ringing round dealers for the best price ( no px). As well as a local ( Essex/Kent) dealers I want to compare those against the most "flexible" dealer & as DTD cars are dealer supplied was hoping those of you who bought through DTD could tell me which dealers supplied their cars. Thanks in advance. PM's welcome.

  12. Bought my Fabia VRS from a Briskoda member. Felt happier knowing he had commented on the car in his posts favourably and I felt I knew more about the car because of that. Lots of members care about their cars so that a positive. Only problem I see is that not many "bread and butter" versions for sale as the enthusiast's choice seems to be Fabia/Octavia VRS and that narrows the market considerably.
  13. Please add me to the list for a pair (briskoda.net). Thanks.KJB
  14. I live in Chelmsford & get my Octavia Tdi & fabia VRS serviced at Prestons in Writtle. Have been using them for 4 yrs with no probs at all. Cant comment on purchasing from them though. Richard is the manager. He is friendly but then I'm in there twice a year !
