  1. So, my EML came on a while ago and thanks to some help from Canders for the VCDS scan, it's thrown up the above fault code. I'm aware of the handy aluminium blocks which fix the issue, however my engine has the plastic manifold meaning getting at the intake manifold is a pain in the backside. I've seen a video from Diesel Geeks from a guy in Germany who has successfully fitted one without removing the manifold on an A4. It looks a fiddle to say the least but wondered if anyone else had done it? Ideally don't want to have to shell out for a garage to look at it as no doubt I'll get stung for a new intake which will still potentially have the problem in the future. Either that or I'll find somewhere that will be able to fit the bracket without having to remove the manifold.
  2. Thanks for the replies - should be able to get the bits I need fairly easily then. Good shout on the DAB on wheels lead too Reason I'm chopping my old unit in is because the CD/DVD drive has broken and although I have a new drive to fit, I'm intending on keeping the car a while and really wanted DAB so I figured the Columbus is the best unit for integration with maxidot etc. and keeps it as "factory" as I can!
  3. I've just got my Columbus DAB and will be fitting to my FL Octavia II. I'm replacing my non-DAB and know I'm going to need a new aerial - was looking at something like this one: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEU-OriginaL-Antenne-NEW-1K0035501J-VW-OCTAVIA-Radio-Dab-Telefon-Navi-Webasto-/281867030635?hash=item41a095906b:g:FBMAAOxycmBS3Yyb I already have the GPS under the dashboard but figured I may as well run the lead to the roof aerial if I've got to do the DAB lead. What lead would I need to get for this? For the DAB lead I've seen you chinaRF recommended on ebay so I assume they can make up the GPS lead if needed? I was looking at this lead for the DAB: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/300931814696?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Any advice appreciated. Just waiting for my VCDS lead to arrive so I can code it all in properly.
  4. Just installed my camera today with all the bits and bobs. Took some working out but got there in the end and impressed with it so far. Just got to do a test run and check the footage! Thinking of putting in a rear one - anyone done this? If so how did you wire it up? Don't really want to run cables all the way from the fuse box but with the piggy back connectors it is very easy so might be tempted to extend the wiring and do it!
  5. Do you still have the CD drive for sale (seeing as mine appears to be fecked!)
  6. Will give it a try, the fact that it doesn't even go intot the slot makes me think it's def the drive. Will let you know about buying yours!
  7. Went to load new firmware/maps on my Columbus H/unit today and I can't seem to get it to physically accept the DVDs. I've never needed to use the CD drive since I bought the car until now so don't know if it's ever worked. When I put the DVD into the slot it I can here it trying to do something and I get a message on screen saying "Loading CD/DVD please wait" and then it just sits there doing nothing. When I take the disc out of the slot it says "Ejecting CD/DVD please wait" so it's obviously detecting the disc but doesn't do anything else. I've tried a reset and another disc but still nothing and I'm beginning to think the drive is faulty. Is there anyway I can replace it without having to buy a whole new unit?
  8. Brand new genuine Skoda part. No badges. £40 Collection from Portsmouth area preferred but can get quote for postage.
  9. Tempted by this to upgrade my current non-LED version. Will need to see what they go for first to see if I can afford the upgrade......
  10. Bought a couple of things from Eddie-NL and didn't realise this topic existed. First off was a MDI kit - which arrived as described. Secondly was a Maxidot set of clocks along with fitting. Eddie was working late but still made the journey down to mine, fully fitted coded and sorted in less than an hour. Top notch and great bloke. Thanks!
  11. Nice one - thanks I will keep looking. Ideally would like some vrs ones just to keep it all "factory fit".
  12. Ahhhh - I'm still after a set of FL Vrs maxidot clocks. Trawling through eBay but no joy - where else is best to look?
  13. Indeed, but having sat down in the cold light of day I had some pretty poor advice from various garages which ended up costing me a lot of cash. I'm hoping the CR engine is better than the PD one. I managed to sort a 2 year full warranty as well so piece of mind really. Nothing out there compared with the skoda in terms of bang for buck and practicality and value. I had a budget I had to stick to and couldn't find anything else which compared. Once I test drove it, it just felt good. Fingers crossed and all that!
