    yeti mpg

I cruised along at 60mph and enjoyed the M25 traffic jam yesterday on the way back from work at a client, mainly A roads Motorway and country roads - saw an indicated 72.3mpg on the Maxidot following the downhill coast to home for the last 1/2 a mile...
  2. Thank you for that - very impressive and certainly works for protection if you like to remove the middle seat / keep it folded down
  3. I have had an MGZS 180 previously with a couple of mods and that got called Burble because of the lovely V6 overrun - it could well have been named by my daughter. I am tempted to call the Yeti Roary (as a bit of a skit on Roary the Racing Car... given that it's a Greenline) because of the Reg: RO12 AYE, or maybe Scotty... but I don't feel a burning urge to name it and when I talk to my other half I do tend to say 'The Yeti' - my daughter who named the MG hasn't seen the Yeti as yet so maybe it will get a name this weekend when I visit them...
  4. Hi Big Rich - I must admit it's hard to see where this fits in the pictures and what protection it offers in terms of the rear centre seat being dropped - have you got any photographs from the internal to show this? If you could give some commentary on how it fits in / where it protects etc that would be really useful... thanks in advance...
  5. I moved from the Octy vRS via some short term company cars (Leon 1.9tdi, Prius 1.5 T Spirit and a Mondeo Edge 1.8tdi) and I have to say that the best I got from the Octy was 66mpg (on the trip computer) but I was in fully on Granny mode with some slipstreaming of wagons and lots of motorway. So far - almost 1 week and only 300 miles at 63mpg (trip) - I really like the Greenline - especially in Elegance trim (love the heated seats) and I am more relaxed driving this due to the better visibility, comfortable seating and airy cabin so because of this I can see that it's going to be more economical as I work within the limitations of the engine. Besides if I want some fun then I can take my other half's 120d and turn the traction control off in the wet . In conclusion I very much doubt that you will be disappointed!
  6. Cheers for that Lee I have always been in the habit of allowing the engine to warm up before revving excessively - I have only been to 3,000 rpm once so far when I needed to overtake earlier... taking it very easy so far and will for a bit (hence the good economy). The car is definitely being enjoyed and I keep smiling thinking that I am back in a Skoda and it's such a great one - even simple things like pulling in to the drive are much easier than in the cumbersome Mondeo I had and the Prius I had before that from work while the Yeti was on order... I am even getting to thinking that I prefer it to the Octavia vRS I had... must be getting old
  7. I like that one Lee - it's true when you are trying to be good with a very low tank it's amazingly stressful. I had a mixed drive before - some hills, rural roads, little bit of town and saw around 60mpg on the maxidot... it will be interesting to see the difference between on board and the pump when I eventually fill up again. Must admit I am liking the challenge of driving as frugally as possible (without holding up the traffic) and at least this way it's good for my pocket as well because if it's business miles then the 16ppm covers it - better than the Mondeo where I gave up trying to be economical and sat at a touch more than the current speed limit to get the journey over with... Only 246 miles so far at a maxidot average of 64.2mpg BTW - how long to I need to go easy on the engine for? I will search now and see what comes up but if anyone has anything scientific / empirical then that would be appreciated...

  9. Member name: stripey Engine: 1.6 TDI Greenline Model: Elegance Colour: Regency Green with Gobi Interior Location: Aylesbury, Bucks, England Got the car yesterday and I am sat in my study looking out at it - love the colour and when I can get photo's on I will...
  10. I have to say that I am impressed to begin with - I picked the car up at 08:30 yesterday in Reading with 8 miles on the clock and then drove to Bristol at a steady 60 (80 ish miles) and then drove back later at a steady 70 (115 miles) cruise control where possible. The Maxidot mpg (yes I know real world is much lower) displayed 65.7mpg when I arrived home... mainly motorway with some country roads at my end and traffic as well... not too shabby! The engine is a bit slow to respond when overtaking the slower cars on the motorway but very smooth compared to the 1.8 diesel Mondeo I had until yesterday. I am sure it will loosen up. My first ever new car and it's nice to have it... I was going to attach a photo but for some reason I am already over my global upload quota?
  11. Well - this is the colour I will be picking up at 08:30 tomorrow morning... looking forward to it - not that many about by the looks of it and I have always liked green - matches my eyes :p
  12. My Yeti is at the (Kia and Alfa Romeo) Dealer and I will pick it up on Tuesday at 08:30 - then drive it on a nice steady motorway journey from Reading to Bristol and then back home later - nearly 200 miles on the first day; should be fun...
  13. Well - I did chase and because it's a lease car it has to have some preparation - it should be at the dealer by the 9th and ready for me at the end of next week... the wait is nearly over!
  14. Ah - so it looks as though I am going to be beaten to the first Regency Green on the forum... maybe I can be the first Regency with Gobi?...
  15. I too am supposed to be getting mine on the 9th but everything has gone quiet at the Lease Company... it was supposed to be a confirmed date - maybe I ought to chase and check :wonder:
